Mapping error - tree missing it's top in the bottom left~ You might want to add a bit more life to the area - even if it's dead weeds and pebbles. The blank ground is bland and boring and doesn't look at all appealing.

You could also check out some of the edits in the resource section to find trees that have been edited to have a more sickly colour. There's also other tiles available there that would help sell the 'dying land' image you're aiming for.

Ah thanks for pointing out that error, and I do plan into looking into more tiles. This is simply a challenge to myself for fun, to see what I could come up with considering Lite's limitations and a practice for better knowledge of the program. Also the world is starting to show that it is dying, so I don't want it to look too sickly yet, but I agree the map needs a bit more stuff.

I just got done playing it! Once I began the game, I could not stop 'till I finished to the end. I went down Mercy's Path on difficulty, as I wanted to go through the story (will try other difficulties later).

I got 96% of the clues, I sadly could not find a way to free the headbanging skeleton. But anyway, I liked the combat system--I had regretted not choosing a higher difficulty level, as it definitely was fun. The music chosen was excellent, really giving a feel for the place. The story was deep and creepy, some of the old journals giving me chills down my spine and churning my stomach! I also hated how I had to murder Amelia in order to get down there. It may had been best not to had murdered her at all, since Alice had sealed herself in which even she could not escape.

Oveerall, wow! Wasn't sure if this could beat "Illusions of Loyalty", but man it did! It was also fun to play a main girl character, as many RPGs don't have that. I definitely look forward to more games in The Shackles of Varn! Consider me a fan ^.^

Illusions of Loyalty

Hey there, I just wanted to tell you how much I loved your game! The choice in music, the battles, the characters---I loved it all! The dialogue was well written, the skills were cool, I also loved how the sprites were animated in some areas (like when you see someone working on fixing a gollum, I enjoy little details like that. Making the Move Route just right was probably hectic). I played in the easiest mode, and plan to play it again in harder modes. My only complaint is how short it was, I feel so much more of this world could be explored. Like more about the terrible experiments involving those eyeball creatures, those logs were creepy! But, as you mentioned it being a Lite CookOff I can understand the shortness (I myself am limited to Lite until I can buy the full version). All in all, I really loved the game though and I hope to see more from you! Once I play in harder modes, I plan to post a review for it on my review blog ^.^
