Lost Chronicles
A tale lost to the sands...

Does literally everyone hate me, or am I missing something?

When I told Marrend that he was "living under a rock," I was joking. It was meant to be sarcastic, and was not serious at all. I even pointing this out in an edit I made.

I'm sorry for being rude in the past, I really am. Strack, thank you for your kind words. They really mean a lot to me and I'll take them to heart. As for the unrelated comment of "raging at plugin devs for monetizing their work," that was years ago and my outlook has changed, especially since I have more income now than I did in the past to afford these type of things. And Mirak, thank you for complimenting my custom karen sprite. It definitely helps boost my confidence when I heard a skilled sprite artist tell me that my work is better than his.

But to mirak once again, no, I do not hate the people who contributed to my game. I greatly respect their work and how they contributed. Especially to the people who contributed directly, like bendyizzt who helped me create the escape sequence in Meteo Chronicles. (which I'm greatly thankful for. Thank you BendyIzzt!) I'm one of the most staunch supporters of Aekaschics even after he left for over 5 months, thanks to his uber-cheap patreon at only $1 a month and amazing supportive community, not to mention having some of the highest quality battlers ever and constantly allowing varied fan suggestions.

99% of my game is made by myself, from the story to the mapping to the dialogue to the databasing, even some of the graphics. The only things that aren't me are the plugins, the RTP, and the OST. (which largely consists of rips) All the plugins are bought officially, I own the license to all of them. I didn't pirate a single one. Is not liking yanfly this much of a sin? Am I not allowed to criticize him just because he's made some cool stuff? IMO it doesn't really seem fair and I'm sick of all this white knighting for some random guy none of you even know.

So basically the lesson learned from all this? Have more self confidence and make everything yourself, because relying on other people is a waste of time and money. I want a plugin made so badly? I learn code for free online over 6 months and use it to create the plugin of my dreams instead of relying on other people to make one for me. I want a specific sprite made? Make it myself instead of waiting for one of my polls to go through on Aekashic's patreon or paying #50 for a commission. I'm sorry if I came across as selfish, and I've learned from all of this to never expect anything from anyone else for free, because everyone wants something in return and you just have to deal with it.

If you want something for free, you have to do it yourself. No exceptions. All this really comes down to is laziness and the lack of self confidence. Throughout my life I was always taught that good people always do good things for other people for free out of the kindness of their heart. From cartoons, from the bible, to my parents teachings. But now I've learned that that isn't how the world works. The world is cruel and very few people are willing to work for free, even though everything I've done so far for all of the communities I've been a part of have been free because I lack confidence in my work to be paid. No one is a "good person" as I was taught, and to survive in this world you can't be a "good person" either. You can't just give out things for free and get things from others for free, there has to be a price to everything. The problem is that money is not accessible, especially for younger people. Every single thing costs money, but if you have no money or no easy way to earn money you cannot survive. It is a cruel, twisted world we live in. I've finally realized that now.

As for unity's complaints, I have a response for every one. I do not mean to be rude and condensing to any one of them, I just want to give my side of the story. And for unity's overall question, yes for all but 2 and 6, which don't count since 6 is blatantly false and 2 is a heavy exaggeration.

1: I wanted things for others for free because of my past twisted worldview believing that good people will always provide things for other people solely out of the goodness of their heart. I've now learned that 99% of humanity does not share the same morality I do, and requires a price for every action. Nothing in this world is free. I've finally learned that.

2: I don't think I insult people who try to help me very often. It's usually a misunderstanding on either side. With Marrend in the Karen thread, I was simply joking around and being sarcastic, which Marrend treated as being serious. Other instances are similar, though I don't really remember any of them.

3: I'm not only interested in my own games. I'm just not a fan of RPG Maker games in general. I love making them, but I'm not the biggest fan of playing through them. Most of the games I've played haven't been the best, so I'm pretty resistant when it comes to playing other people's RPG Maker games, especially when there is so many other games I can play instead. I came to this site to share my own creations, not necessarily to engaged in other's.

It's similar with me and reading. I love to write, but I heavily dislike reading. It's kind of a paradox. As for "advertising my games in community projects," the only one I can remember is the recent and currently ongoing underwater quilt in which I included a tongue and cheek nod to some of my games in my section of the event. It was not meant to be malicious or self-serving, just a funny little reference, a reference that basically got no criticism on the actual page. This is the first time I've really heard a complaint about it anywhere.

As for my other "community projects," event games I've submitted, Lost Chronicles, Crypt Challenge Classic, Crypt Challenge DX, and Beyond the End were all original concepts and not meant to self promote any other project. Just because all of my projects are connected doesn't mean that when I submit something to a community project that relates to my games I'm self promoting. Another user also posted a sign as part of their post on the quilt which said "hail satan," which no one really cared about either. I don't know if it was a attempt to troll me but safe to say it doesn't affect me in the slightest.

4: Yes, I made long rants bashing Yanfly. But IMO Yanfly and his company is kind of shady. My criticism of him is not automatically wrong because he's a talented developer of assets which he provides to the community. (for a hefty price) Anyone should be free to criticize anyone they choose without being silenced. Everyone relentlessly defending Yanfly is kind of getting on my nerves. I still have supported the guy in the past, but everyone needs to stop white knighting for Yanfly just because he makes some cool assets. No one is beyond criticism. As for insulting the RMN staff, I don't think I ever did that? I've made jokes that "liberty hates me," but that's just about it.

5: I was banned from the official RPG Maker Forums for pretty justifiable reasons, first for getting into an argument about religion relating to Persona 5 when religion is a banned topic (unless it relates to your game) and a second time for spreading slander about KADOKAWA. (who is still shady don't get me wrong but isn't running a sex trafficking ring. That's just insanity that was fueled by my own delusions, fiction, both my own and others, mashing with the real world in my crazed brain, not reality.)

As for the RMN server, I shit talked Yanfly and then got muted by Liberty for 24 hours after I got pissed that people were promoting piracy and drugs in general and there was an active member of the discord that identified as a Satanist witch. Then, Yanfly himself came in and made multiple comments shit talking me without me even having a chance to respond since I was muted. I went to bed already upset and the next day I went onto discord and I was permabanned with no warning even though the mods said I would be only muted. I even messaged them before I went to bed asking the mods if I was banned, and then they said I was only muted. I tried joining other RM servers but was banned from every one I joined without posting anything because Yanfly was one of the mods there. The only servers I wasn't banned from were servers where Yanfly wasn't a mod. I haven't been banned from any other site, besides a few subreddits but those places are run by cringe powermods anyways who permaban unjustifiably all the time.

6: I am a kind person. I'm not an asshole, I'm just really sarcastic. I want to help other people. I want to be a kind person. I'm sorry it sometimes doesn't come across that way because I'm really bad with choosing my words. I help other people when they are down, I encourage my little sister when she's feeling bad about herself, I compliment her singing, I praise my mom constantly, I have a strong sense of justice that causes me to defend the weak and oppressed. I have empathy, I am a kind person. I'm not a psychopath.

And for the record, I have tried to change and better myself. I've learned a valuable lesson from my ban from rmw, NEVER post something when your so consumed in emotion which causes you to say crazy and irrational things. I posted the status update last night and intended to write a long self-pitying rant where I vented my frustrations, but deleted it and decided to look back on it the next day. I was going to delete this status update too before I get even more hate, but couldn't figure out to in the short time I was given. This whole situation shows for certain that I have learned from my mistakes, as I'm able to post this far more reasonable essay when I'm feeling better and less emotional instead of the insane emotional rant I deleted.

That is my response, and I stand by it, and no, Unity, there are people who still care about me, even on this single thread. Strack for example. My mother loves me, my dad loves me, my brother, my sister, my aunts, uncles, and grandparents, none of them believe me to be a "selfish, entitled asshole" like you claim. I will not let your hate control me. I have taken your words to heart, but I still know what most of what you say is untrue and falsified. Be more like Strak, giving criticism while also being kind and understanding. At least it's clear to me and you actively despise me, so I know to ignore your hurtful words from now on. I'm not sure what happened in your life to turn you into this from the kind, mellow, understanding Unity I know, but I hope you can heal from it and move on.

[RMMV] Need Karen Sprite for Mother's Day Project

Why are you so angry? I did nothing wrong. I made the sprite myself because I wasn't getting a response fast enough. Why is that something to get angry over? I'm not looking for pity. Where did you get that idea? I don't need anyone's pity, I just needed help and all I got was rude and condescending responses from you and only you. And about your questions, I only thought to PM Mirak AFTER I made the thread. And it was 2 days, not 1 I waited for a response. I'm sorta on a time limit here.

On other platforms like reddit or discord, it usually only takes around a day for people to respond to me. I wake up the next morning, and suddenly there's 2-10 responses depending on how much the post blows up. On here there's just you and me and that's it. No activity whatsoever. It would probably take months for me to get a response that isn't from you, if that.

I needed a sprite for my mothers day project so I asked and the only one who responded was you. And from my experience, I could wait weeks on this forum with no responses, which once again is because it's basically dead with almost no active users. Every day I wait is one day past mother's day, and the longer I wait the more likely I'll forget about it and the more likely my mom will be mad.

I'm fine waiting for things as long as I know that they are coming. I waited for Kingdom Hearts III for two years after I got my PS4 solely to play it. I waited 6 months for Akashics to literally say or do anything on his patreon while he took a massive hiatus. I waited weeks for my Zero Gear Chronicles OC comissions to go through. I'm a patient guy, I just need to know that the things actually are coming or I get impatient.

[RMMV] [RMVX ACE] Pros and Cons: RMMV vs. VX Ace

MV is practically superior to VXA in almost every way. Here are just a few things that are better in MV:
+Significantly better resolution
+Javascript support instead of Ruby Script. (far easier to learn too)
+Far more plugins than VXA
+The best RTP in the series (god like OST)
+An amazing, professional quality character generator that actually matches the RTP.
+Full compatibility with MZ projects as well as VX Ace projects (with a few small tweaks)
+Better quality animations including the majority of VXA's animations.
+Much higher storage for database items
+No RTP needed to install (everything is in the files)
+Better UI and QoL features
+Built-in sideview battle
+Managing resources is far easier

There are only a few downsides to MV compared to VXA, and most are pretty minor.
-You can only use one specific file type for each type of asset, unlike VXA and earlier engines which had a much larger variety of file types. All music must be OGG, all graphics must be PNGs, and all video files must be webM.
-Game file sizes for MV (and MZ) are significantly larger than the files for VXA games and earlier since there is no RTP and all assets are stored manually in the game's files.
-Both the engine and the actual games perform very poorly on windows operating systems that are earlier than Windows 10, so much so that they're basically unplayable. Most of the time they won't even load on Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows XP computers. RPG Maker MZ has this same issue to a lesser extent, the games lagging to an extreme degree on anything before Windows 11. (most people still have windows 10 unless they got a new PC in the past year) Meanwhile, VXA software and games works on all modern operating systems, new and old. (starting with Windows Vista)
-Multiple "junk files" are pre-loaded into your game every time you start a new project that you may or may not need. This HEAVILY bloats the file size so you either need to delete the files you don't need every time you make a new game or to alter the NewGame folder in the program itself to change the base files loaded when you load a new project for the first time.
-There is no built-in database, (well, there technically is, but it's kept to the bare minimum) which can be either a boon or a bane. For one, it prevents too many RM games from feeling the same like in VXA since a lot of bad VXA games all use not only the same graphics and music but the same skills, classes, weapons, armor, items, etc as well. MV doesn't have that problem since you start with basically nothing in the database. This comes with the downside of not having any database items to base your own original items on stat-wise, leading to widespread balancing issues across a lot of MV games.

That's basically all the pros and cons of MV. Enjoy!

[RMMV] Need Karen Sprite for Mother's Day Project

IDK. I thought everyone knew. I guess your the type of guy who's always living under a rock, huh? Not aware of any trends whatsoever. You know Minecraft? Among Us? The Chris Rock VS Kayne slap? (which was incredibly recent and all over the news) The Johnny Depp VS Amber Heard court meeting? That one was right out of Ace Attorney and it's still going on as we speak! But my guess you don't know what ace attorney is, or anything of what I just mentioned. Since, you know, you're like Patrick Star and live under a rock. (this was all a joke/scarcasm please don't take it seriously)

Anyways I gave you some sources. Maybe you can read up on what a "Karen" is and come back to me with that? Maybe read up on some other memes? Widen your thought. Or you get someone else to help me? I heard Mirak is good at making sprites. I even mentioned him in my original post but since RMN doesn't have an @ feature it's useless unless I PM him myself. I'm sorry, but I think you're in the minority when it comes to not knowing what a karen is. Even my grandma knows and she can barely even turn on her phone!

It's sad that these forums are so devoid of life. It's just you, me, one other guy I can't remember the name of, and a few newbies with like 0 makerscore who post like 1 or 2 things before leaving forever. Everyone's on discord now, and all other alternatives to here I'm banned from.

[RMMV] Need Karen Sprite for Mother's Day Project

I'm talking about the meme of Karen. I know Karen is a character from Pokemon. I've played gold and silver. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the meme of those middle aged women, stereotypically blonde, overweight, and with the same short haircut who harass retail workers and random people and cause a massive scene. Them these crazy ladies get recorded and put on the internet for everyone to mock. It's a whole phenomenon. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. It's super big. I want a sprite representing this meme of a crazy middle aged lady. Here is a couple reference:

Edit: I basically want the DnD Monster version of the "karen" done as a sprite, full body. That's it. Sorry I wasn't that clear before.

[RMMV] Need Karen Sprite for Mother's Day Project

So I'm making a game to celebrate mothers day, the plot featuring me and my mom teaming up to beat up a transphobic Karen who's harassing me. Problem is is that to my knowledge no "karen boss sprite" exists on the internet that I can steal use. Can anyone please make a karen boss sprite for me so I can finish my mother's day project? @Mirak, can you please do something with this? Thanks!

RMN Underwater Pixel Quilt 2022

@KrimsonKatt, technically you were supposed to wait until Illy finished B1, but we'll see, maybe it'll still match up!

Yeah, I realized that a bit too late. Sorry about that lol. Hopefully mine matches up in the end, or Illy changes hers to match up IDK. Luckily I made my part pretty self contained. The only one that carries onto her's is the sun which can be easily edited over.

RMN Underwater Pixel Quilt 2022

I claim a1!

Edit: Done!

Meteo Chronicles R

That's a glitch involving me forgetting to replace one of the old facesets with the new ones. Normally, a text pop up would appear telling you that you need to collect your stuff before you can leave, but since I removed the original facesets from the game's files it tries to load a faceset that isn't there and the game crashes. To fix this, reload your save and open both the chest and collect the item on the counter. That will allow you to progress and avoid the glitched textbox. I'll fix this right away.
