Crypt Challenge EX

Okay, that makes more sense. I'll go check it out. So apparently you were talking about the animations then. You could have said that sooner! I don't use MZ animations, I merely transfer them from Meteo Chronicles, which may be why the animations are glitched because they were in a different resolution. I'll get that fixed right away.

Meteo Chronicles (Demo)

I found the glitch, It was an issue with the self states. The issue with the black screen after Koros' capture was fixed in the last update, which also introduced the bug you're facing right now. Already fixed both of them, about the release the new version once I implement the new feature I've planned. (boss refights in an optional dream world) Stay tuned.

Crypt Challenge EX

Okay, got it, but I still don't understand what you mean by effects. So the animations run fine? Or are the "effects" your speaking of the damage numbers and stuff? Do you mean like status effect animations? The weakness boxes? I still don't understand what you mean by that.

Crypt Challenge EX

@TheRPGMakerAddict I'm working on the fixes right now. A few of the problems seem like easy fixes. Just eventing errors and the like. But the "effect" glitch confuses me. What "effects" are you talking about? The animations? The UI? How do they appear? When to they appear? What do they look like? What kind of animations are they? I need those details so I can fix the relevant glitches. Also, this game is a sequel/epilogue to Meteo Chronicles. You won't understand the plot or the majority of the context unless you play that game first. Thanks for the reply. I get on to fixing both this and MC right away.

Edit: The issues you mentioned have all been fixed, maybe except for the "effect" bug that you mentioned, that I still don't really understand what it is. The instant death effect was made for "outsmarting the fire scourge" as a sort of troll moment. After all, the boss is the one that's in control. He could technically use Dark Rexflame at any time to instakill the party, but that line of spells comes at a heavy cost.

In the lore the "Rex" line of spells are tier 6 (the highest tier) spells that can damage or even kill the user upon use, but are extremely powerful. A dark version of Rexflame (the fire variant) would be x4 as strong as the standard Rexflame spell as dark flame is 4x stronger than fire, shadow flare is x4 stronger than nova, etc. Therefore, using that spell would not only likely kill the party instantly, it would also kill him, so that's why he doesn't use it in his fight. The only reason he used that spell was because he was pissed at you for outsmarting him. Sorry I didn't portray this in the game. I'll probably include it in a journal or something in a future version lol.

If you're interested in the further lore of the spell tiers, you can read all about it down below.

Chronicles Spell Tiers Lore

Tier 1: No prefix, standard power, single target. (Fire, Stone, Thunder, Stone, etc.)

Tier 2: "El" as prefix, major tier power, multi target. (Elfire, Elstone, Elthunder, Elfrost, etc.)

Tier 3: "Arc" as prefix, massive tier power, multi target, hits two times. (Examples: Arcfire, Arcstone, Arcthunder, Arcfrost, etc.)

Tier 4: No prefix, but spells in this tier have unique names and effects. For example, Boulogne (tier 4 fire spell) hits all foes only once but lowers their RES (mdf) and inflicts burn, while Blizzard (tier 4 water spell) hits all foes 3 times but has a high chance to miss outside of icy terrain. Possesses severe tier power and can be single target, multi target, multi hit, or any combination of the three. (Examples: Quake, Thoron, Seraphim, Oblivion, Supernova, etc.)

Tier 5: Same as the previous tier, but these spells often times have stronger effects and possess colossal tier power. Some examples include Meteor which hits 4 random foes or Grand Bolt which hits all foes 4 times but with low accuracy outside of rain or thunderstorms. (Valflame, Tidal Wave, Judgement, Black Hole, Biohazard, etc.)

Tier 6: The highest tier of magick which is also the most dangerous, with spells in this tier often causing great harm to the user and/or the environment, and it's mere use can cause massive damage to the natural ether flow of the universe. Thus this tier is known as "forbidden magick," and mages are banned from using it across the board, unless they are criminals who want to destroy the very fabric of the world however.

Some spells in this category include the Ragnarok Triad of Forblaze, Aureola, and Apocalypse, which deal unreal fire, light, or dark damage respectively to all foes 4 times while either lowering their RES (mdf) by two stages and inflicting burn and doom, (Forblaze) their MAG (mat) by two stages and inflicting blind and silence, (Aureola) or inflicting every non-lethal status in the game at a 100% rate, (Apocalypse) though they cost all current AP and 75% of current HP to use, along with a "Ragnarok Token" which is incredibly hard to find or craft. Only artificial beings without a soul and/or beings of pure darkness can use this power without incredible harm coming to their bodies and the use of a rare Ragnarok Token.

This tier also possesses the forbidden spells with the "Rex" prefix which drain the user's HP equal to their level (a.lv x 100) to perform incredibly powerful attacks that are based on the formula ((a.mat + (a.level * 10) * 50) - b.mdf * 25) As you can see from the formula, this spell is incredibly powerful, but unlike the Ragnarok Triad it can only target one foe and costs an absurd amount of HP, only raising per level maxing out at the near-cap of 9900. If you're level is low and your foe's RES high, you'll deal almost no damage, but if the stars align just right and you're around max level you can do insane damage far above the damage cap, which by the way, all tier 6 spells break.

That entire area with the fire scourge was supposed to be a reference to the diner secret dungeon in Breath of Fire 2, and to my memory an instakill event also happened in that game if you tried to outsmart the boss. Though that game doesn't have a traditional game over sequence. Dying just returns you to your last save point with 50% of your current money lost. (though you can store excess money in banks which are located in nearly every town to circumvent this) The only way to get a game over is to get the bad ending, otherwise actually dying for real is impossible. So yeah, you got trolled. Luckily that doesn't occur too often in my games, so for the rest of both this and Meteo Chronicles you should be good.

@blackassassin7 Maybe you missed one of the shards? You can do any of the sub chapters in chapter 5 in any order, so maybe you missed one? Do you have Stacy yet? Because if you don't you need to go do her chapter before you can progress. I'll try looking at it today and try to see if there is any additional problems I need fixing.

@d757darkman Sorry, I missed the stream, if that's what it was. I check this site maybe once a week, so I don't see things as soon as they're posted. If you want to inform me quickly, please DM my discord. My account name is KrimsonKatt#3075. Thanks!

@Frogge Yeah, I get that. I'm not the best at map making anyways. I mostly did this event just for fun. Map making is pretty much my weakest aspect, with my strongest one being coming up with ideas for game mechanics and writing/designing the world, story and characters. Though, I have gotten a lot better since my earlier games. Just this map wasn't my best work because I was hard to adapt things that weren't already in the RTP like the trampoline or the side-stairs.

Also, no, there was no racism intended in my map. Literally no one is racist there except for Robinson, who is losely based on a abusive teacher I had in 6th grade who beat me and was extremely racist to white people because of terrible things that happened to him in the 60s. (he was really old) Literally no one there is racist, and no one is an "asshole." Yes, people talked a lot about politics, but that is due to the game taking place in the real world in 2035 in a timeline where political turmoil and discussion have become an inescapable part of everyone's lives due to the recent government takeover in America. In the full version it's also confirmed that the world that Elzakalas was transferred to was a mere simulation of a possible future in the real world as Barbello doesn't actually have the power to bring fictional beings into reality, so it technically isn't even our world, yet. We still have time to prevent the future shown in the game from coming true.

Mine got last lol. Wow I suck. Mapping has always been my weakness. At least I tried though. And yes, the map is part of a larger narrative. An upgraded version of the map will be included in Gaiden Chronicles, a collection of short RPG stories set across time in my universe, so stay tuned for that I guess.

Meteo Chronicles (Demo)

@Orcurlydon Yeah, that DLC NPC is a relic from a point in development where I was going to make DLC for the game. Instead, I merely plan on revisiting the game at a later date to add in all the planned side content that would have been DLC in a "definitive edition." And yes, the Itch.io version is up to date, though I wasn't for a quite a long time.

@BlackGoldSaw Okay, I'll look into the issues you described. The "being stuck in lava" thing is a relic from an old version of the game which has a unique dungeon gimick where you must collect a certain item dropped by enemies in order to not be instant-killed when entering a new floor. I realized the "puzzle" was far too obscure and random for most people, and the dungeon already have enough gimmicks, so I scrapped it. I must have forgot to change all the transfer events to thier newer versions. Sorry about that! Version 1.3.1 will release very shortly which will fix multiple issues with the game that people have been having. Stay tuned.

Crypt Challenge EX

I fixed it at 5:32 PM GMT. 2 hours before your post would be at 3:49 PM GMT, which is before I fixed the glitch. The new version is v1.1.2, if you were wondering. I'm pretty sure I fixed the problem since I added back the files (which were automatically removed with auto export due to plugin shenanigans) and then zipped the files.

Edit: I just looked at the new version of the game. I seems to work perfectly on my end. Are you sure you got the latest version? I'll go check the downloads right now.
