Summer Review Jam! (week 9 space'd)

Ehh .. interesting. Interesting indeed. Considering I only have mild interest in one game .. not sure whether I want to join the frenzy. Although I did want to review some more games.
Oh well, there will be enough reviews anyhow.

Leviathan Review

I am a little bit harsh, but I'm glad you take no offense.

Bosses would've been certainly interesting, they would've made some good reward and permadeath less avoidable, too.
I thought that was the intent behind the number of monsters as well. But losing monsters is easily avoidable when you can save anytime

Leviathan

It's not bad per se, but it falls off very quickly during the hour you play. The aesthetics are the best about it, unfortunately.

Roguelike elements included, it is not really a roguelike, nor are there many battle strategies (even if there is a relatively huge a cast of monster-friends). It's more about survival long-term on low resources making it generally slow-paced.
The only possible game-braking issue is that you can still sell some items that give you way too much gold, which defeats the survival purpose.
The endings have little impact as well, so there is little reward for surviving I suppose (but they seem to be still under work anyhow)

It's not that bad overall, but not that good, either. I'm struggling as to whether I can recommend it, but if that sits alright with you, give it a go.

Oh, the dropbox account the game is on has been disabled for 'too much traffic'... :s

Yeah, perhaps changing sources / updating? The download-button-counter is off as well

Leviathan

Welp, that turned out to be a bit disappointing. Review will be up soon

Leviathan

This looks gorgeous! And a roguelike, too? Count me in.

Tirawrmisu

Haha, glad it's useful! I'd like to have reviewed it, but with demos it's a thing for itself. So if you want more naggging and nitpicking, just give me a hollar!
It not being my cup of tea may make it less enjoyable, but far easier to view objectively ;)

And with the music I actually meant to have two tunes, one for your closed shop (the music does fit the preparation I'd say) and one for the open one, to differentiate that a little bit.

So two dragons it is, I would've imagined one barging into the shop one day and demanding a higher quantity of cake, actually, haha.
And on a side note .. the forest to gather ingredients is very cute! I'd dig a game styled like that.

Kudos for the natural pun-throwing! Gordon Roarsay and others have not been overlooked^^
The ideas sound lovely. I admit I didn't really mind that there is no full town - it'd be even fine to just expand that to not-business-related areas as well. Makes it easier to create polished spaces rather than a huge town which tends to get messy easily.
Keep up the good work!

Siesta-Rena (IGMC 2014)

Looks fun. I like the takes on sandman anyway.
I'll give this a go and write a review!

Edit: Aand done. Fun little game.

Czarina Must Die

Well, a little bit disappointing. Won't finish it, but the humour could need some polish - it's too much "in your face"-stuff.

For example, I'd appreciate it if not everything the characters do would be announced. Fourth-wall- and trop-breaking stuff comes off way better when you are not expecting it - it's the whole point of it. You can give the intent afterwards, but not before.
The overly-long character introdcution would've been pretty neat if you told afterwards something along the lines of "now that I'm a fully developed character, never again speak of it", instead of giving the intent away right from the start.

Just my humble opinion, the game itself is pretty solid I'd say, it's just that without enjoying the kind of humour it offers, there is little point to it.

Corporal Buggy Bear Review

Well, I myself did not enjoy the kind of humour in this game. It's a little bit too much of "in-your-face-humour", a little bit on the stupid side, too.

But as it goes, humour is a matter of taste. Just wanted to chime in that not everyone will consider it very witty

Tirawrmisu

It's certainly a solid base. But guess it's not ready to be reviewed anyways?

I don't know what you've planned, but there are a couple of things that could be improved upon. As it's neither fast-paced, nor story driven, nor with a world to explore, a little bit more variety and customization would be awesome. It feels like someone else's shop, not yours.

You earn way too much money later on, especially in comparison to your hygiene rating. Some optional spending options would be neat - even if it's just changing the color of your carpets.
Getting the later shelves does not seem to achieve anything at all, you have the same amount of customers (at least with the first one), and given that you do not have a limit to how much you can store in one, it doesn't give you any real benefit.
A different background music for the open shop would be nice.
We've already covered the time^^ has too little impact on the game.

And lastly .. where do dragons come into play? Aside from the introduction and food names. I love them, but it's a little bit sad that they are more or less obsolete to the actual game when you promote it like that. (you know, was customers and such ..) Of course, there's already a welp in the real thing, eh?

Well, so much from me! But it's not exactly my cup of tea anyways, so take it with a grain of salt ;)
