LIBERTY'S PROFILE

I enjoy playing and creating games (mostly RPGs) and have a love of story and characterisation above graphics. I've been into RM* since '96 and have used all makers - started on the PSX makers, found and used a patched version of the SNES RM, then moved to RM95. When I found RM2K I finally decided to join some forums and I've been a part of the community ever since.

Pokemon just revealed the SV DLC OST and it consists entirely of stolen fan-music from YouTube. How is this legal? And the musitians can't even fight it in court because they're poor hobbyists fighting a billion dollar corporation.

In fact, Game Freak are legally entitled to do so:

These are rules written by big corporations to claim ownership of art they didn't make. Are these rules legal ?

I think to be fair, they ask for those rights so that they don't get sued for even hosting your shit. Like, imagine if someone just decided to go "You know what? I DON'T want youtube to be able to host my stuff. In fact, I'm revoking their right to do so. I'm suing them for doing so!" That kind of bullshit could quickly devolve into all sorts of crazy, so I can see why they'd want to have the rights to 'use' your stuff if you post it on their site.

It'd be like someone on here going "You know what? I'm suing RMN for having my game on it. Sure, I chose to host the game here but I'm now revoking my rights and I'm suing you for having my game on your site without my permission, even though I put it there to begin with. Fuck you."

I'm pretty sure we also have somewhere in our own terms of service or whatever when you sign up that we have the right to host your shit. Probably. It's in there somewhere. Right? o.o;;;

Nevermind
"When you provide the website with your content, such as a game or article, you are merely giving the website explicit permission to make content available to its users. The website does not claim any rights to any user-submitted content, unless the content is submitted by a staff member and the works were created exclusively for the website. Users retain all rights to any content."

We don't retain rights or anything, but we are allowed to make it available. In that case, idk, maybe they're fuckheads.

spriting is hard why didn't anyone tell me

i dunno about the others, but I didn't want to harsh the fun you were having with it. ;p

I ignore the multiple daily emails about advertising on RMN

Saaaaame.

The bane of being Admin. orz

Where is administration rpgmaker.net? Seriously!

FWIW, I found that guy earlier and just banne him, but new guy also banne.

I bought my kid RM2k3 yesterday. It begins...

and thus was the prophecy fulfilled

i know you can't nominate commercial games for Misaos, but if i could, i'd nominate "Prayer of the Faithless" for the Not Dead Yet Award. I mean, holy crap, 7 years in the making and it turned out brilliant. What an achievement.

When we started Misaos there weren't any commercial games. Or at least, they were extremely few and far between since engines had to be bought via Japan in order to legally own them for commercial use.

Nowdays, well, we did try to have the option for it last year but the code was fucking up completely and wouldn't count commercial entries for whatever reason. Thus why we held an off-site vote last year - to check how it would work out (did well enough). So we'll probably do that this year unless we somehow get it fixed.

It does mean that we'd have to hand-pick commercial games since they can't be nominated, sadly, but I think we can do that easily enough. Thankfully the sorting system works well at least. XD

orz

the real Administration is the friends we made at rpgmaker.net

So something about not wanting me here or something or other?

Lies. All lies!

I may be a thot, but I don't want you to go! If you know, you know...

Let's just say that some asshole realised his cover was blown and got banned (again) after sending a bunch of people messages saying I'm a thot and don't want people on this site.

Love yas and try to ignore the crazies <3

Just got banned from reddit. I'm @$@$@%#@ pissed.

...make a new reddit account. Stay out of wherever you were posting.

Weirdly enough I'm Christian and have never been banned from any social media. Maybe it's how you're communicating that you are Christian and not reading the rules of wherever you're posting, because different reddit subs have different rules. Read them before posting?

Honestly, it sounds like it's how you're communicating with people that is the problem. Like, read what you read here. It's a lot of blaming everyone except yourself - as though everyone is against you. That's not true. People on random sites like reddit don't care who you are or what you are, but how you interact with others. You sound very angry. Have you seen a therapist or someone who can help you deal with your anger? Because as someone from the outside looking in, I feel that might be a good way to start. But that's just my 2 cents.
