@Colt: Woah, thats quite the coreography you have going there.
Very impressive. Is it all done with Events in maker or is it a "real" cinematic done withs external software thats played ingame?

@Topic:
I am finally getting to the point where I am somewhat confident i my indoor maps. Still had to overhaul the libary like 3 times because I still thought that there was too much empty space. Maps are Paralax and most of the furniture and items has been edited in one way or another.

Cancelled LS VXAce version

So, any update on this one, or has it gone into the dreaded 'hiatus'?

Worse, it got into HiatusxHiatus due to personal issues.
Now I am in the middle of overworking the whole skill & battle system as well as the conquest system, which means most of my old progress will be lost, but I hope its worth it.

Thanks and yes, though I feel a bit stuck in a cycle of Hiatuses due to real life issues and System Recreation due to me no longer being content with the old version.
So I have no idea when ill be ready for a demo, could be end of this year, could be way later.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Different foods grant different stat upgrades, as a rule of thumb, the more ingredients it takes to make the food, the more stats it boosts.
The % aren't final yet, I am fully prepared to adjust the numbers based on player feedback if it should turn out that the system seems useless or overpowered.
I am planing on balancing normal enemies for a party with little to no food buffs and optional enemies for a fully buffed party.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Working on a food buff system, here is what I am thinking of doing right now:

- Eating grants you points, you can get up to 7 points for each stat.
- Food can only be consumed outside of battles, there is a special menu showing current points.
- The first 5 points grant a 10% stat increase per point (10% for 1, 50% for 5), the last 2 points are just a buffer.
- After every battle, you loose 1 point in each stat.
- Each character has a different taste, normal food grants 3 points, food they dislike 1, food they like 5 points, food they love 7 points.

The whole system is meant as a possible easymode for normal battles and will be semi required for some optional bonus areas. (I don't have a traditional level system, so there is no way to grind for levels. There are also no random battles and fewer, harder normal battles, when compared to classical RPGs)

Any thoughts, questions, objections, or suggestions?

man who chooses a snail as their national animal
Are you kidding?
They got like 10000 teeth and carry a mobile fortress.
They are like land-shark-tanks.
Way cooler than ants.

@Dreaded: Nice style, though the chains seem a bit strange, I don't think a ruler of that state needs to chain his pleasure slaves. If you have to chain them, maybe mix the thing up a bit, right now it looks like the chains are hanging from the ceiling.

@yuna21: Is the grid style deliberate? if not, you might want to change some of the ground textures so the grid is a bit less obvious. Otherwise nevermind, its not a big issue anyway.

@Topic: Decided to go ahead and give my world and land maps a makeover too (and go with a stylised land map instead of a tileset):

Accepting Criticism

The problem with criticism is to get the timing right.

If you are not experienced and need to improve, expose yourself to critisism.
The important thing is to get it early on and to get lots of it.

Sure, you can work for 3 years, release a game and learn from your mistakes, to make your next project better, but thats a very inefficient way to go.

You should get it early on, so you can still redo or give a makeover to your first dozen maps/events/scripts, based on what you have learned from the feedback.

You should get lots of it, so you can get a somewhat more objective viewpoint.
Sometimes you only get 1-2 replies on a single site/forum which can be entirely biased in one direction, telling you its great, when there is still a lot to improve, or picking on some little detail, when its something 95% of the population wouldn't even notice.

I'd say there is the same potential problem as there would be if you used stairs there: The angle.

Right now in side-view its like 90°:
      |
|
......|

It should be like 45°:

/|
/ |
../ |
(thats not 45 I know, but I think you get the point)

Fix would be to make the way longer by 1 or 2 tiles.
(to be precise it should be like: height_of_cliff * squareroot(2))
