LOCKEZ'S PROFILE

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The Unofficial Squaresoft MUD

Maybe you can't tolerate text-based games, but they don't bother me at all, especially when they're this good. This one is really unique as MUDs go; almost everything is custom. It uses the Final Fantasy Tactics job system, and has areas based very accurately on the worlds from Final Fantasy 5/6/7, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. I don't mean that they made some generic/original town and put rabites near it and named it Potos. I mean that the areas from the original games are metitculously recreated in great detail in a text-based format. And many of the events and storylines, too.

It's a fan game, obviously, but when I started I had never played FF5 or Secret of Mana and could barely remember a damn thing about FF Tactics, and it was still extremely enjoyable and easy enough to understand. It helps a lot that it's more of a re-creation than a sequel to the original games.

There are a few reviews of it on Mudconnector, this is the most recent and most detailed one: http://www.mudconnect.com/mud-bin/prev/review.cgi?rid=29139 While I don't agree with everything in the review (most of the old douchebag players left, for one thing, and I think story missions are way more awesome than dumb little things like the fur shop), I guess the review still gives a good overview by someone who isn't me.

How do I set the scale size in RMXP?

Yeah, that's just zooming out. If you want things to look smaller in the game, you need to actually make them smaller. In other words, make custom tiles where the objects displayed are much smaller.

I got people talking, this is good! I wasn't making the topic with the expectation that 'Yeah Mog, I agree, WE'RE ALL DICKS'. The fact that some of you disagree is fine, but a little self awareness of an opinion never hurts!

Getting people talking about drama is good? Really?

I was pretty sure getting people to ignore drama and talk about rpgs was supposed to be good.

Why are a lot of us dicks?

It's never too late to get hazed and build character.

Unfortunately, do not ever treat the world of internet as real life.

In the world of internet, anything goes. Just take it with a pinch of salt.

It's not even face-to-face most of the time on the internet, anyway, so nobody cares on the internet.

I cannot possibly disagree with this more. It was probably a valid argument ten or fifteen years ago, but these days the internet is the primary way that real life happens. Nothing happens offline that doesn't happen more often online.

The only difference in real life is that people can punch you. If they don't mind going to jail, that is. Sadly a lot of people think that this small chance of personal harm is more important than being funny and witty and an actually-interesting-person, so they tone themselves down when face to face and aren't nearly as enjoyable to talk to as they are online.

Requesting a partner for ambitious project

I like Despite's idea, amnesia is a great idea

Despite do you mind if we use that or do we have to credit you as co-author now

NEED A PARTNER FOR THIS PROJECT

I guess I will just drop this forum and start another one later on when I have more material.

I guess this is Goodbye for now. Sob.

Oh come on, don't be a crybaby douchebag, stick around. I mean, oh no, boo hoo, a human incarnation of a lolcat had some fun at your expense. Doesn't mean you're not allowed to learn how to make video games! Gawd.

Why are a lot of us dicks?

Nothing wrong with being a dick, as long as you're endearing or funny about it.

Sarcasm, for instance, is always acceptable. Sarcasm makes everything better. It's just universally hilarious. And sometimes it even makes people feel like their problems are laugh-worthy instead of cry-worthy.

Seriously Feld, get a sense of humor. Your topics about drama are singlehandedly creating more drama than every other forum post combined. If you don't like this place then go somewhere else, don't douchebag it up and make it un-fun for the rest of us.

Good-looking areas vs. good-playing puzzles

Hmm, it sounds like unless the game is based around extremely puzzle-heavy dungeons like Wild ARMs or Zelda, a lot of people don't appreciate puzzles in RPGs much to begin with. Kind of strange since I really enjoy them, I feel like they're the only thing that makes dungeon-traversing actually interesting, and sometimes the only reason I'm willing to tolerate their absence is because it makes the game look prettier.

Tanking for Health and... well, Health

I still feel like tanks are a boring and stupid class to let characters use in their parties in most games. However I'm interested if anyone knows of a game where the enemies have tanks, and something similar to provoke mechanics are used *against* the player, and how well that worked.

The only method I can think of is to cause provoke spells to change how targetting works, so that either A) all enemies but the tank are temporarily removed from the target list, or B) attacks have a random chance of hitting the enemy tank even though they were targetted at a different enemy. In either case I'm not sure how well it would actually play out. It might work fine but not really add any extra depth to the battle. It might not work at all, especially in a tactical RPG or an action RPG or a western RPG or any other type of game where you don't just choose the enemy from a list.
