Hi! I'm told this might be the best place to put this, but I posted some free character art assets for non-commercial projects recently.

Enjoy! And if you use them in something, let me know.

Maki-mArt (Commission Thread)

Thank you both <3 <3 <3

Right now I am looking for either 1-2 larger projects to work on or 2-4 smaller ones depending on the work involved. I'll be closing commissions when I have those filled and will reopen once they are completed.

Maki-mArt (Commission Thread)

Hello, people! It is me, the Legendary Canadian Goose who sometimes drops games out of nowhere and then vanishes for 2 or 5 or 12 years. Back again ---- to draw for you in exchange for coin from your treasure troves.

I've never made a commission thread on this website before, but here I am. Freshly released from the shackles of retail and ready to go. Don't know who I am; that's cool, neither do I. Here's something quick I heard someone else say: Maki has been a member of the RPGmaker community since dinosaurs started using 2k3 to make fangames of their favourite manga. Since then, she's drawn a lot and made some stuff including: Castle Chase, Halloween Flop/Bash, and April was a Fool.

Now, onto the art!

Here is the basicinformation for illustrations. All prices are listed in USD.

For more details head over to Twitter.

I have plenty of experience working with various versions of RPGmaker and doing art for Renpy games. Here are some more specifics for art aimed towards those things.

FACESETS

All facesets come with 3 basic expressions: Neutral, Smile, and Frown. Extra expressions can be purchased. Files will be drawn at around 500x500 and you will receive both the fullsized images and if you are using RPGmaker, I will format the graphics into the image sheets you require.

Fullsized Style - $35 per Pose
Chibi Style - $20 per Pose
Additional Expressions: $5 each

BUSTS

All busts come with 3 basic expressions: Neutral, Smile, and Frown. Extra expressions can be purchased. Files will be drawn at around double the in game size (unless your resolution is something shocking) and you will receive both the fullsized images and ones resized to fit the dimensions you need.

Fullsized Style - $60 per Pose
Chibi Style - $35 per Pose
Additional Expressions: $5 each

Freelance Art Commissions

I'm coming here with a bit of advice as someone who has done plenty of commissions over the years, both for projects on this site and elsewhere. You're welcome to ignore me, but I think it's important.

It's a bit too early for you to be offering commissions when you're still relying heavily on reference to create your art. Almost every piece here is a redrawing of an artwork, something that isn't bad as practice, but doesn't fly as a product to be sold to others. You need to allow yourself more time for personal growth to develop your own look and feel to your art, so someone hiring you can feel confident that they will be getting consistent and unique artwork for their project.

It's fine if you like the art style of things like Castlevania (Ayami Kojima's work is beautiful and certainly a source of inspiration!), but redrawing existing art into new characters is not merely inspiration - it's copying.

It's clear from what you have here that you have a great foundation, but you're not ready for commissions. Learn to branch out of the comfort zone it seems you've fallen into and create your own pieces and then hopefully you'll return!

[GREEN] - GAYmak the Rainbow

Name: Felix
Age: 26

Description: A elven druid with a prosthetic arm made from enchanted wood. He carries himself with awful posture and tends to mumble when he talks. When he stands still, he often blends in with the trees around him. His long, dark green hair hasn't been cut his entire life. Very prone to muttering negative comments, especially about himself. Interactions with other humanoids utterly confuse him, especially those of a romantic nature.

Background: Felix's parents lived deep in the forests, away from all other civilization. As such, Felix was not raised with very good people skills. At all. After a fire claimed the lives of his parents and his right arm, Felix had to start interacting with nearby villages to trade for his own survival. His miserable, moody, and standoffish personality didn't earn him many friends; most of the villagers treat him as some sort of enigmatic local legend. His thoughts on this are mixed.

Allowed for use: Yes, but please let me know!

[RED] - GAYmak the Rainbow

Name: Ahlyn
Age: 32

Description:
A blood mage with short, fair hair and a passion to use her skills to help others. Wears overly flashy clothes and moves with a confidence and flair that's generally frowned upon by other mages. Is quite a bit extra and every bit a hand talker. Outgoing and an open flirt towards all genders.

Background:
Ahlyn comes from a secluded village that dedicated itself to its bloodmagic craft. She was meant to succeed her father as village chief, however between her father refusing to accept her gender and her desire to see bloodmagic used to help those outside of the village, her younger brother succeeded her instead and she was sent into exile. A fate that suit her quite fine. Freed from the expectations of her village, Ahlyn now travels the area using her magic as she pleases and living as the person she knows she is.

Allowed for use: Yes! But if you use her, please let me know :)

I AM too busy, but designing characters is like a healing process between busy things. It'll be nice destress after cutting prints and pins~

GAYmak the Rainbow event

Hello!!

Are we allowed to do characters for each day but then not the game at the end? I'm working Artist Alley at a convention that weekend, but I really want to participate in the character side of it.

If it helps, I'd be fine with people using my characters in their games as well.

Anyway, I skimmed the thread before asking, and I don't think I saw an answer for this.

[Poll] Does RPG Maker net have low engagement rate?

I'm not sweeping it under the rock, I'm trying to explain why things are the way they are.

You are. If a customer comes to you and says "hey this product you sold me is bad because-" your initial reaction shouldn't be "it's bad that way because reasons."

All you've done is admit to the customer that their input lacks any value to you, because you've shown a lack of interest in fixing the problem they brought to your attention. You've also done yourself the disservice of admitting that you knew it had those flaws when you sold it to them.

That's a great way to break trust between yourself and your potential customers.

What you should do with that feedback is first thank them for their time and purchase and input. Go away the comments they gave, sit on them for awhile and sort out what is useful information and what is not. (Because not every comment a customer makes its useful.) Then apply what you took away from the experience either to the current game or the next.

That immediate gut reaction to defend the things your customer found wrong with your product doesn't reflect well on you as a developer.

i am looking for yuri (lesbian) games please make some sugestions

Perhaps U.U.P. Gemstar? I don't recall if that protagonist ever had a fixed gender, though. That may even have been part of the point. Then again, that's also an unfinished game, so, WELP!

Yes, that was our intent in writing that. The protagonist can be any gender you want them to be. It's also our intent to y'know, finish that. So you can date all the space cuties. D<

It's not on this website that I know of, but Romance Detective was a very short little Visual Novel that might interest you. :) It only takes one sitting to play all the endings. I feel like there's something else on the tip of my tongue that isn't coming to my brain. But I might also be thinking of a webcomic. n.n'
