Perhaps I'm taking in this feedback from Oracle a bit too personally for my own good, but, geeze, I am feeling WORTHLESS!

...I thought my feedback from Oracle was mostly positive? Maybe I didn't spend enough time telling you about the good points of the game? As a tester, I was primarily focused on finding faults to fix so the game would be better, but I thought that was kind of what I was supposed to do as a tester?

Sorry if I made you feel bad. ;_;

I dunno. It's, like, everything I've done since Okiku, Star Apprentice has been a sub-par attempt, at best.

*Edit:
To be fair, unity, focusing on finding faults and pointing out places where the game can improve is, in fact, exactly what testers do! Also, do not place the blame entirely on yourself! Both you and Red_Nova raised issues that I have to consider!

I guess what I'm saying is, here's yet another situation where I'm really, really confident with my work, then, after the feedback comes in, it gets shot down. It's not the first time it's happened, and probably won't be the last. I just have to learn to deal with this crap better, that's all.

It's not the initial attempt that counts, it's what you make of the game as a whole. A lot of times that may mean reworking things for the game's overall benefit. That doesn't speak poorly of you as a game maker, as I think we've all been there when we find that we need to polish or improve something to make it work. Heck, that's the whole reason Luxaren Allure got a prologue; a lot of people pointed out how the first build was lacking in that regard.

Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

Yeah, you are taking this feedback too personally. Believe me when I say that if I thought you and Oracle were worthless, I wouldn't have spent three hours coming up with feedback, ideas, and alternative ideas. I did a lot of nitpicking because I thought this game could be great with polish.

Interesting you should mention Okiku. Let's talk about that for a second:

What made Okiku special? For me, it was because the game does simple things very well. Clever design decisions were made that gave Okiku a strong personality that was backed up by story and gameplay. She had a lot of abilities that covered a wide range of situations. You really got to feel like Okiku, rather than just playing as her. This meant that battles were simple, but engaging to the player.

I can also say with confidence that Arbiters From Another World is also successful at engaging the player for the reasons mentioned above. I recommending taking some time to look at those two games and see what made them tick. Don't just copy/paste their mechanics. See how they used the gameplay to make you feel like you're playing as these characters, and try to replicate that method for Oracle. I can promise you you'll improve by leaps and bounds.

We want to help you, man. We're not shooting you down at all. Criticism stings, no matter who it comes from. But it just that: Criticism. Not bashing.

I hope to see Oracle again, polished and ready to go. I'll be waiting for a new testers copy when you think it's ready for more feedback.

If the fact that there actually are people who want to test and help you improve your games teaches you anything, then it's that you and your projects definitely are not worthless at all. Many people would love to have the kind of support you get. Have a bit more confidence in your own stability and try a more positive outlook, and you'll start to see the mountain of possibilities in front of you instead of focusing only on the little heap of mistakes next to you - which others even want to help you clean up.
You can do it.

Yeah, I was definitely not coming at this with the right kind of perspective to have! Which half-reminds me. Did I not have posts that I saved for the express purpose of helping me through moments like this?
