silencing you is easy when you don't go into detail
let loose, man! kill! kill!
I was up late watching a livestream of Wendy Davis's supporters in Texas last night. I was so happy to see so many people standing up for themselves. :) And there was one quote that stood out for me:
"At what point must a female senator raise her hand or her voice to be recognized over the male colleagues in the room?" - Senator Van de Putte
It made me think back to all sorts of dismissive words and actions that we have to put up with all the time
oh, so this is what that's about!
yeah, that whole situation was incredible. not even just the filibuster, but the way people started trying to undermine their own fuckin' political system to try and silence someone speakin' nothing but truth, saying that it was irrelevant or had nothing to do with the vote (which is ridiculous for a filibuster, people have been known to filibuster just reading out of a phone book)
and then they hold a vote and fucking lie about it, which is disgusting
what good are laws if people only use them when they're convenient to their antique prejudices?

it's not even that so much the idea that a person should be able to make decisions about their own body, particularly in situations with these kinds of far-reaching consequences
there isn't really a good analogue for men, but imagine if you registered to be an organ donor and a few weeks later people came up to you and told you they wanted to have your organs right then and there. forcing someone to carry a baby to term even in situations where it's life-threatening to one or both of them or would effectively ruin their lives is a lot like that. (I stole that analogy but it's a pretty good one.)

also the people trying to pass this apparently don't even know the difference between a rape kit and an abortion sooooooo

That's the type of thing that those against the issue aren't willing to admit as a reasonable exception. How about when the baby is a result of rape or incest ... not to mention who's going to take care of the baby once it is born. It's not a black or white issue as they make it to be.

basically vaginas are more heavily regulated than guns in the US
Yeah, ironically, one of them can potentially give life, while the other can take it (although sometimes saving one or more in the process).
