Midi's Versus MP3s

Which would you prefer in an RPG Maker game and why? Midi music files, which are decent quality music but use little space and has faster downloads, or MP3 music files, which are much higher quality music but use more space and has longer downloads.

I'm very particular about my music. If it's a good midi, that's fine, but truthfully, I'd much rather listen to the actual MP3 song than to a usually poorer quality rendition. If that means longer download times and more space, so be it. I'll play it, delete it when I'm done, and download it again later if I decide I want another go. And if the game has MP3s I enjoy, I'll add them to my itunes so I can listen to them on the go. :)

Main Story

In the world of Linguardia, the nations of Rikalia and Dorent are the reigning powers. Although both leaders have been at peace for centuries, a dark cloud is on the horizon. King Richard, leader of the Rikalian kingdom, has recently lost his wife and daughter to a pack of demons. Now, his mind twisted from grief, Richard is on a quest for domination. His plan: to harness the power of the six legendary crystals, which, according to scriptures, will bestow the wielder with unimaginable powers if brought together. With Richard on a path of destruction to collect the crystals, war seems inevitable.

Players take control of Epoch Lander, Captain of Richard's Dragon Knights, an elite force within the Rikalian Empire. However, when Epoch begins questioning the morals behind Richard's actions, he is arrested for treason and sentenced to death. With his head full of unanswered questions, Epoch must decide whether to accept his fate or fight for what he believes to be the greater good: even if it means fighting alone.

Major Characters

Epoch Lander

Captain of the Dragon Knights and the protagonist of Forever's End. Although the morality behind Epoch's actions during his past four years as Captain are questionable, Epoch is good at heart. When Rikalia labels him a traitor, Epoch vows to stop Richard and his plans for the good of the kingdom.

Elise Alkenridge

Elise is a member of the Alkenridges, one of numerous families that has been ordered to safeguard the crystals. Elise, however, is different from her colleagues; she has the ability to commune with the crystals, something that has only been done by the original Guardian of the Crystals. Although Elise has always wanted to be just a normal girl, she is bound by duty to protect the crystals.

Slade Esperolo

A demon hunter with a dark past. Not much is known about Slade, except that he is helping Richard for personal reasons.

Marcellus

A shady character who appeared before the king days after the death of the king's family. No one knows who is he or where he came from. Now, he acts as the king's advisor and bodyguard. But is Marcellus really looking out for the king's health, or is he driven by another motive?

King Richard Elridge

Once thought to be a humble king, Richard's mind has become twisted after losing his wife and daughter to a pack of demons. Now, Richard seems obsessed with obtaining six legendary crystals, which he promises will provide Rikalia with an infinite amount of energy and resources. But how far will the king go in order to achieve his goal?

Lee Durandan

After witnessing the destruction of his village and the murder of his father, Lee must protect a sacred artifact while being pursued by the Rikalian military. Son of renowned war hero, Zanziba, of Rillia Village, Lee is armed with the unique power to absorb an enemy's ability.

Hey there

Hey, my name is NicoB. I've always been interested in RPG Maker. A long time ago, I bought the original RPG Maker for the Playstation 1 and was immediately hooked. Because of the lack of "convenience" (using the D-pad to type messages...ugh), it took me about three years to complete my first game. Then, fairly recently, I came across RPG Maker 2000 and 2003, and now I am hooked again. I have thoroughly enjoyed the games that people have made with this system (top favorites: "Demon Legacy," "Balmung Cycle," "The Way," and "A Blurred Line").

I am someone who has always been interested in creating stories. As a child I would always begin writing a story, then abandon it for some new idea (I seriously wasted a ton of paper doing this). My current project is called "Forever's End" and although I'm not exactly programmer savvy, I hope to make a game that people enjoy.

Anyway, it is good to meet you all!
