I'm an artist first and foremost, and long time video game and RPG fan. Been tooling around with RPG maker for some time and I'm finally getting down to business and working on a serious project. I've got everything planned out and now I'm just trying to punch out the work.

Yeah dudes, can't wait to make some epic battles... And multi-stage bosses are a must! I'm fooling around with CBS scripts again right now because I just found my current one to be too buggy :(

Looks awesome. Would be great if you had custom sprites to go with it: the XP sprites don't match.

Tell me about it, o_O I badly wish I knew a pixel artist I could conscript to work on this with me, the sprites I end up using will be heavily edited though. Those ones were there just for me to test some call scripts and what not :P

I like it. It looks like it will be like a stage select type overworld, the middle being the boss level.
If it's more evil, grass doesn't grow on it. That's the rules.

Yeah I try to make my maps a blend between flow and anti-flow, the nice thing about my town maps is I get to have buildings that consist of an entire image and offset the rest of it. It's hard in a graveyard though, I do want to add some small crypts that may offset it a bit though.

I suggest outlining the text, but that's a pretty nice ITEM GEM scroll!

Thanks amigo, I agree the outlined text would look better, I'm sure I can manage something with a message script, because that's actually a windowless text box in front of a picture

Lol Sorry amigo, I'm posting pics as soon as I draw new elements, in this one I've added the second coffin house variant, some bits o' bones and a streetlight that'll probably have a fading in and out "candle light" effect :P

I know, I just saw it and my addled brain jumped straight to "oh my god what if it were a coffin OUTHOUSE" and this was too good an idea to keep to myself

you worked for Bicycle? that's some very impressive credentials.

the background is ugly though. i wish it looked like a table or something, not just a boring, oddly textured red gradient.

And I agree wholeheartedly on the uglyness of the tabletop texture. The script requires a "window set" image and stretches out the background. I badly wish I could make it a single large image of a tabletop or something, but my scripting skills are negligent :(
