Hello there. My name is Nick. But you can call me anything Noble, NN. Doesn't really matter. Well I enjoy playing games and I want to get into a career of game programming and design. Hopefully I can get this dream to come true. I enjoy manga and anime, as well as the usual norm. I like playing soccer and tennis, as well as RPing and Tabletop games. Also card games are cool to.

RMN & Global Gam Jam

http://globalgamejam.org/

"The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world's largest game jam event. Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we could come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games – it is very universal. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games… while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. It is all condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. Although the event is heavily focused on programming, there are many other areas where people who don’t code can contribute to a game.

The structure of a jam is usually that everyone gathers on Friday late afternoon, watches a short video keynote with advice from leading game developers, and then a secret theme is announced. All sites worldwide are then challenged to make games based on that same theme, with games to be completed by Sunday afternoon. In January 2012, we had 242 location in 47 countries created over 2000 games in one weekend and became a Guinness World Record! GGJ 2013 is January 25-27 at a location near you… if not you can make one of your own. The jam is known for helping foster new friendship, increase confidence and opportunities within the community. The jam is always an intellectual challenge. People are invited to explore new technology tools, trying on new roles in development and testing their skills to do something that requires them to design, develop create, test and make a new game in the time span of 48 hours.

The GGJ is not a competition."

So Game Jam is an event that is sponsored at my school whether it be it's own little ones or the major huge ones. Honestly we already have 3-Hour Game Challenges, whats a 48-Hour one. I've done this a few times before and it's a great simulator of crunch time or a regular friday night for some of you. I think RMN should try and get in on this and maybe sponsor it on the site. Might be something to think about.

Voice Acting

I wanted to hear the whole opinion on whether or not voice acting can be done in a RPG Maker game, and better yet can it be done good. Now technically voice acting is possible, with only small hardships in syncing up voice to text but my whole problem has been the quality of voice acting can break a game even if the story is well written. Either the voice acting cannot convey the emotion or the fact that background interference takes away from the immersion of the game itself. I remember a game called Shrine of Kamuki which used japanese voices, not sure if they were correct translations or just there to fool me for not knowing the languages but the problem was mostly that the voices seemed to be a different emotion each time played.

Hello, again.

Hello everyone. My name is NoblemanNick or just Nick. I joined this site and was pretty active on it a few years ago starting around 2007-2008 I believe, I could be mistaken. Due to just school and other activities I kind of fell off the face of the earth. I remember being one of the top twenty people to reach 1000 posts at the time. I don't know if Kentona, or the various other members remember me but if you do "long time no see". I always enjoyed RMN and the various games it produced and some of the my best times on forums have been here. I'm also glad to see people breaking in from here into the indie game market. If you want to know a little about me, I'm a Game Programming/Advance Computer Science major trying to make it in the game industry. However my hobbies have always been fooling around trying to make my own indie games and RPG Maker was the first real engine/program I really poured alot of time into learning and even now picking it up again is like I never gave it up. Just got RPG Maker VX Ace, loving what they did to it in regards of the things I found wrong with VX. I hope to reconnect with old friends and meet some new ones and become active again. ~Nick

Persona 3 Portable

Script: Skills that Cost HP

I was searching for this, but I couldn't find it for some reason. Just want a script that allows when a certain skill is used a certain percentage of health is used as a cost instead of MP. Much like the physical skill system in Persona 3 and Persona 4.

Video Game Expo 2009

So, in Philadelphia, PA. (My town), the video game expo is starting tomorrow continuation on to Sunday. I got the three day pass for this ticket and cannot wait for this. Anyone one else from RMN going to this? Also there is an anime festival that also premieres there.

Paranormal Adventure

.:PARANORMAL ADVENTURES:.

WHAT IS PARANORMAL ADVENTURES?
Paranormal Adventures is an old topic I started a long time ago. Basically it was a CYOA on the forums. Dealing with a paranormal.supernatural theme to it. The topic gained popularity but later was lost as most topics do. Sprunging from Paranormal Adventures came topics such as the Letter and Ye Ole' Medieval Adventure. However they followed a different format, there style was more in a text adventure rather than a CYOA. Since October is rolling around, I thought it would a nice idea to revive this topic.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Simple, I write a few things and offer you choices. The first person who posts gets to choose the choice. However this can be overruled by the majority due to popular vote. Also to allow everyone to have a go. A person may not post two choices in a row. I will check everyday for the choices that have been choosing. I will make a response to that choice and offer you another set of choices. And so on and so on.

PLOT
Like last time Paranormal Adventures had a plot to it. Also two characters who you may remember Nameless and Random. Nameless is a journalist who wishes to make documentary on unsolved mysteries. Random is his best friend and cameraman. You play as Nameless. Due to digging around in the confines of the internet. You see a file on a mysterious disappearance not to far from your home. Deciding this may be interesting to check out you head out. The case is rather strange. Five years ago an old amusement park burned to the ground due to mysterious circumstances. The amusement park was ran by a man named Ken Stol. Stol had always been shaken with the locals from the neighboring town. Things were said to escalated during the year of the fire when the mayor's daughter went missing inside the amusement park. Not much is known after that except that the fire destroyed the amusement park as well as the town. Many people died there, it's rumored to be haunted. With the occasional legend stating "those who go in, don't come back".

TIPS
At any time you may take a picture with your photo camera, as well as tell Random to take footage of something if he's with you. This largely affects the story if your able to catch footage. Always think before making a choice and think of the outcomes. Also everything isn't as it seems.

BEGIN

You are with random in a large silver SUV. You had taken the day off from your university to go explore this place. As you drive onward you finally come to stop at a large iron gate. The gate is tied with chains and a sign which reads "Danger, Keep Out". The chains however wear rust from the years and seem easy to break through. The gate seems to open to a path which leads deep into the woods. The country air is humid and the ground is wet from this morning's rain. There is also another path leading upward, where you can spy a gas station. "So this is the place" Random says to you as he steps out of the car, you soon follow. You need to make a decision.

Break the chains and continue through...
or
Head up to the Gas Station...

Not letting me delete my games.

I wanted to delete my games that have been abandoned. But for some reason when I hit delete it doesn't do anything. Also I have been along from the site for a while. So forgive me if this has already been addressed.

Nick's Drawing Portfolio

NICK'S DRAWING PORTFOLIO

Font Change

Is there a way to change the font within RPG Maker 2003. I don't like the font and want to use my own, and if so how?
