Game Jams and Events - Your Experience

I did a few games as a result of gamejam events! I think it does help to try out different ideas, try out new things and stuff.

I think also, sometimes working on the same thing for too long burns me out of it and I need to switch to something else. It's not that you HAVE to do gamejams if you don't want to, but if you find the idea interesting, I definitely think there are positives to it and it isn't merely a distraction from what you really want to make. I think sometimes you can even take ideas or techniques from it and apply it!

Guess the RPG from Only 3 Tiles

18 / 30 for me, some i just would not have gotten the titles to, some I just didn't really recall. The ones I didn't get:

- Final Fantasy 6
- Live a live
- Illusion of Gaia
- Golden Sun
- Lunar Legends
- Terranigma

I forget what else

Homage to Final Fantasy (I) - Possible Chain/Stitch-together Game

Yeah! It'd be fun to see the results!

Starting pixel art?

Fighting game style is definitely hard and not one to start with! You don't have to show them online but it helps to replicate and play around with existing sprites so you get an idea of how they work. Also, learning how to use the grids in the art program you use is good too, helps you align stuff better.

I do agree with Darken, going low color / low res helps and also I feel it helps with thinking about how the forms and everything look. NES and Gameboy / GBC sprites/Tiles are good to learn from!

DUMB THEME IDEA:

Steamed hams

Mainly just like, pixel a hamburger but like, if you really wanna go all out and make a scene from there, I'm not stopping you
Restriction: This time, none

Pixel Club

No template that I know of, those are RamZ's so he'd have to provide one!

3/13" Gonna go simple on this one now, a crate tile! I'll set a maximum size of 64x64 for this one but it is encouraged to go smaller as you like! 16x32 crate is okay!

Pixel Club

No real time limit, focus on whichever prompt you feel most happy doing! No need to go back and do all of them either, it's all for fun and pixel practice!

Yay slimeeee
