[Poll] Should Yume Nikki fan games be their own genre?

Typically, a fan game uses the characters, settings, ect. from another game and expands upon it. However Yume Nikki is a bit of a special case. For the most part, Yume Nikki fan games don't use the characters, or the settings. instead they use the formula, and build a completely unrelated game off of it. This sounds more like a genre rather than a fan game. Except for the fact that they're usually games made by fans, but who needs technicalities? We don't call rogue-likes rogue fan games. Should Yume-like be a genre?

Whatever we call them doesn't really have any impact on what they are, so in the end this is a bit of a useless question, but I'm still curious to what people think.

[RMVX ACE] Animated front view enemies

Hey, I'm looking for a script that allows animated enemies in the default VX ACE front view battle system. Preferably, one that allows you to use multiple enemy graphics for the animations rather than sprite sheets. I've looked around a bit and all the scripts I can find are side-ways oriented, and typically use sprite sheets.

If a script as described exists, I'd appreciate a link. Thanks.

[RMVX ACE] Animated faces

Firstly I want to make it clear that this isn't a script request. Instead I'm asking if anyone knows of a pre-existing script that animates face graphics in text boxes.

There's this script by Mr Trivel, and as sexy as it is, unfortunately it only animates faces in the actor menu, not in text boxes.

There's also this script by modern algebra which does allow the animation of faces in text boxes, although frustratingly enough it only allows animation to play while text is being written in the text box. It's good for talking animation, but that's about it.

If anyone knows of a script that allows continuing face animation in text boxes, I'd really appreciate a link. Thanks.

Is humor harder to pull off in games?

I can think of countless games that attempt to have a sense of humor, yet I can only think of two or three games that actually manage to make me laugh. Is my sense of humor just incredibly dry, or are jokes inherently harder to pull off in video games? If the latter, why? I'm genuinely curious about this.

[RMVX ACE] Best anti-lag script?

Not 100% sure if this belongs in "Help Me," but I wanted to get some opinions on what's the best Anti-Lag script. I've been meaning to use one in my game, and there's a lot of options. If anyone has previous experience with them, I'd appreciate any advice on which one generally works the best, is the least glitch prone, compatible with other scripts, ect. Thanks.

[RMVX ACE] Problem with Yanfly's Event Chase Player script

Hey, I'm having a few difficulties with this script. In short, the script allows you to have an event chase the player once they are in a certain proximity, set by notetags in the custom move rout box.

The problem is that once you place the notetags in, the event will always follow the player, even when the event is set to a new event page, and even when the new event page has it's moved rout set to "fixed." This is particularly troubling for me, as when an enemy is defeated in my game, I have it's event switch to another page where it's corpse is laying on the ground, and the player can loot the corpse. It's a bit annoying to try and loot a corpse that's still chasing you.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Show battle animations for skills targeting allies?

Whenever I select an animation for a skill that targets a party member, it plays the sound of the animation, but doesn't actually show the animation. I would like to set it to where it plays the animation in the middle of the screen as if it was targeting an enemy in that position. I've tried to set this up with a common event, but it always plays the animation after the skill is complete, and if there's multiple enemies it won't play the animation in the middle of the screen, as I can only choose to show an animation where an enemy is.

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Looking to trade art for scripting help

As the title suggests, I'm looking to trade a bit of artwork for a bit of scripting help. I'm not a very talented artist, but I'm capable to a certain extent. Here's a few parallax maps I made, to give you a sense of what I'm able to draw.

(I'm not looking to trade these maps themselves, I'm just showing them to give a sense of my art style.)

Again, I'm not really that great at art, but it's really all I can offer.

What I'm looking for as far as scripting help, is someone to make an edited version of this script. It's a crafting script, and it works perfectly for me except that I need it to show the stats and effects of items before you craft them. I'm not sure how much work it would take to edit it for that, so if you're interested in doing a trade we can discuss what sprites or maps or whatever you would like me to make in return that you think is fair. Thanks.

Why am I only allowed to have 10 items?

First off, I realize that I've recently made a help topic, and now I'm making another one, so I apologize for that. However, I've come into a weird occurrence in my game, and I'm not sure why it's happening.

So, in my game, whenever I use the "give item" command, no matter how many items I choose to give the player, it only gives them 10 at most. For example if I want to give the player 20 of one item, it will only give them 10. Not two stacks of 10, but 10 in total. I thought one of the scripts I have installed could be the cause of this, however I removed them one by one to check, and the problem still occurs.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, how would one go about fixing it? My version is VX Ace. Thanks.

[RMVX ACE] Footstep sounds?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows of a simple VX ACE script that will play an SE when the player moves onto a certain region tag, simulating footstep sounds? The only thing close to it that I've found is Galv's region effects, however it has a bunch of of features that I don't need or want.

I've also used this method for making footstep sounds, however it continues to play the sound when a player is running into a wall, so that doesn't work for me. So, if anyone knows of a script similar to what I've described, I would really appreciate a link. Thanks.
