April 2015 Podcast: RM2k3 Officially in English!

I can make a video of 2k3 rendered for the oculus rift if anyone is curious! :P

It's not terribly exciting. There's an app that turns your desktop into basically an IMAX screen floating in space that you can look around in, and you can play 2k3 games with it. It's a bit silly, but it works!

Windows 8 and RM2K3

I have very little experience with Windows 8 so far (7 4 lyfe), and last weekend I tried running my game on my friend's Win 8 laptop. It looked and played fine as far as I could tell, but the laptop keyboard didn't work at all. So you basically couldn't do anything. Anyone have this problem?

RMN Fall Podcast (Part 2)

I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast! I completely agree with StarSkipping on the topic of kickstarters in the RM community. While I think kickstarters in general are an amazing new trend in the gaming community, it's just not justified for a single person making an RM game, and the reward tier point pretty much says it all.

Making money doing something you love is a great thing, but we legally can't/shouldn't sell our games due to things like resources, whether or not we payed for RPG maker to begin with, or if in 2k3's case we're using illegal exe patches like dynrpg. The only feasible option would probably be to throw up a simple donation box. Sure you wouldn't rake in as much money as a kickstarter, but this way you're not actually selling your game. You're saying "hey if you liked my game and the work I've put into it, throw me a few bucks!"

RMN Monthly Podcast: May/June (Part 1)

Wooo podcasts! Great job with this! I'm definitely excited for the 2nd part.

How To Make An Enemy Repel Item

Great tutorial!

The only issue I see is when you have dungeons that don't have the encounter rate of 25 steps. I tend to adjust encounter rates depending on each map (larger maps have larger encounter rates, maps with puzzles have larger encounter rates, etc) so you'll have to take that into consideration with the rest of your code by writing some kind of conditional depending on the map you're on.

Makes me wish you could control the encounter rate by variable to make the code easier!

SMBX Tutorial: SMB1 Castle / boss battles / music changes / screen locks / firebars

I have watched all of your tutorials so far, but have yet to actually open up the SMBX editor. One day perhaps...

They are great though! Very noob friendly and easy to understand.
