System switching! (yet another tech update)

author=thedarkdreamer
This game is really good so far. It has a lot of comedy relief and the story isn't too serious, which I kind of like. But I have a question.

Where in the heck did you get all of those facesets. How. Or did you make them yourself. I'm not talking about the 'easy to find' roco facesets.

Otherwise, This game is great!

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it. The facesets that aren't roco are my own shoddy edits made specifically for Everlasting Journey. I manually added frames to all of them and used that green color for the background.

I also tried to "UNZIP" the .pak file but everything I have tried it failed miserably. 7zip didn't work, neither WinZip, WinRar, even Unreal Engine and Online file extractors could not extract anything.

Correct. That's the whole point of it.

I WANT RESOURCE!!

IMO You should just suck it up and get used to making your own resources like a lot of other indie developers out there (Non-RM and RM alike). It'll take longer, but you'll just end up with new skills and more self-worth! Otherwise, you're basically stealing things from other games, which isn't cool... although I can't talk, because there's still some EJ resources that are a mish-mash of other stuff.

MY NAME IS PHILIPEEEEE AND MY ELEMENT IS FIGHT

BORN FROM THE SEA

OpenGL! Shaders! Oh my!

Yeah, it's mostly custom. Kazesui wrote the base DynRPG plugin here: https://rpgmaker.net/engines/rt2k3/utilities/55/

... but I cleaned up a couple nasty bugs, added animated water tiles, background fading, support for vehicles (sort of), and maybe a couple other small things I'm forgetting. Vehicles were a big hassle, because I had to write a separate system for tank controls.

New Save/Load menu (DynRPG)

author=NicoB
Fantastic. Will this plugin be compatible with other projects, or is it really only suited for EJ?

Well, all the plugin does is create a miniature database you can use to store variable data from various saves, and reference them at any time. I also made a "simple" plugin to delete save files when a variable has been set to the save #. The rest unfortunately is event commands, pictures, Cherry's CustomSaveLoad patch and Kazesui's DynRPG text plugin (praise jesus for that). I'm going to try to make some kind of template you can download and import into your project, but the code itself uses like 25 common events and a shitload of variables/switches (100+), so it's gonna be a weekend project just to do come up with something the community can decifer. :)

That's really beautiful! I don't like the transition between the load screen and the map, though. That SHWOOAAAAIGH sound. I think it'd be nice with an actual loading screen, perhaps, or something more subtle, less "AMGONATHROWYAINTODAWORLDNAO" if you know what I mean. You know, I have my own ritual of listening to the load sound and eagerly peeking the "...Now loading." screen while waiting for mah delicious game to begin. Doesn't need to be fake loading times, though. Just... A small delay. =]

Yeah, that's just the effect I threw in when I was coding it. I'm not totally attached to it. A fake loading bar would be fun though!

New Help & Options screen, fast battles (DynRPG)

Yeah, I noticed that too. I converted the music over to mp3, and even though the music tracks are amplified as much as they possibly could be in Audacity, they're still quieter than their midi counterparts would have been. Yet another 2k3 "quirk." :(

I probably will lower the volume of the sound effects at some point, but it would take at least a weekend to go through them all!

Edit: Trying to find a DynRPG solution.
