National Game Development Month

Well, if you want, you can make a thread and we can yell at you until you start making stuff.

National Game Development Month

Well, AABattery, that's fine, but some people could use the extra motivation, and you can set your own goal if 60 hours is too low. This isn't really targeted at the people who are already very productive on their games, so feel free to ignore it if it's not something you'd benefit from!

@chana: Two hours a day isn't really that much if you're determined to make time for it. But if it's honestly too much, you can just set a lower goal for yourself. Several people are doing that.

Regardless, we've got about 20 people participating so far, so I guess some people find it beneficial. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine too.

Sure, you can totally use RPG Maker. Any activity is fine as long as it's at least loosely related to game development and you're actually producing something.

National Game Development Month

Fallen-Griever, the name is based on National Novel-Writing Month because the idea is based on National Novel-Writing Month. And they picked the name before it became an international thing. So, take it up with them.

That said, no one ever specified which country it's national for, so couldn't you apply it to your country of choice?

How'd you decide on a game title?

I named my game Apparatus because I guess it's thematically significant, being about technology's implications for society, but I want a different title because I think Googleability is a big part of a game getting exposure. I just haven't figured out a better name yet.
Maybe add a second word, then? Like Apparatus Implication or Societal Apparatus.

I don't think googlability really matters, as long as the name isn't shared by other games. If people are looking for your game then they will type apparatus game into google when it doesn't show up under apparatus. If people are not looking for your game then they will not find it on google regardless of the name.

There actually is an Android game already called Apparatus, so I'm going to need to rename it anyway. I've been thinking about adding a second word, but I can't think of one I like. I already changed the title once, too, but oh well. Someday I'll figure out one I like!

Oh no, that's fine. As long as the time is spent in some way related to game development and isn't just thinking about the game, it's totally legit. That includes work in the editor, of course!
