[RM2K] RM2k to Level 100....Kind of.

Tbh with you I didn't find too much of a change switching over because I too LOVE the style of Rm2k (I made 2 games with rm2k years ago). When switching, I didn't really like the style of the side view sprites provided with rm2k3 so I just took the map sprites I was using and animated them in battle and it looks pretty decent I think, and they are way easier to work with. After I made my first side-view sprite I was kind of addicted to it lol

The only thing that is a lot of work I just remembered was when I had to make the monster skills animated as well, since when you're in Rm2k all you really need is sound effects and screen flashes + a cool description but rm2k3 is more visual. I recall being a bit overwhelmed at first but in the end I was happy I switched.

Anyway, something to think about, and like you say, it is definitely cool to push the old system like rm2k to new limits.

[RM2K] RM2k to Level 100....Kind of.

I'm a bit late to this topic but wanted to ask, why not convert your game to Rm2k3?

I had initially began a project in Rm2k, and when I finally made the switch it was the best choice I ever made. Like you, I had the problem with level 50 not being quite enough among other things.

Furthermore, you could have Hp and Sp regen right out of the box.

Something to think about.

A.I. Generation and RMN

Suicide booths? Really? Lol. A comment I did not think I'd see here in progressive RMN, that's for sure.

I don't have too much else to say on this topic as I don't use the Ai.. but the discourse is pretty ironic considering the demographics.

Was it really hundreds of hours of work to generate an ai image and slap it in your game tho? more like 10 mins

I don't know how long it takes people to do ai art. I do know that artists can take several hours or days to finish one single art piece. I know from personal experience the costs of paying artists to create what you want, and also the time it takes to get it.

Whatever the case may be, there's no reason to be a jackass about it.

“They took our jerbzzzz, those damn ai are takin ar jerbz!” -rmn

Nah i’m just playin.

Not a user of the AI generating stuff myself but stumbled upon this post and decided to waste valuable game making time reading it.

Gotta agree with the minority here this seems a bit heavy handed especially the whole retroactive treatment of some projects, as some said old users may have moved on or possibly died, and this will set a dangerous precedent or “slippery slope” moving forward but at the end of the day its your site, your rules.

What really bothered me though is some of the ignorant replies from some users to others who now have to go back and redo possibly hundreds of hours of work, or worse, shell out hundreds or thousands of dollars (i didn’t realise everyone on rmn was so well off), in order to upload/reupload their project.

Like damn guys, have a bit of empathy here at least, you got what you wanted, a ban on ai generated art. Haven’t some of you ever lost hours of work in your projects? Because that’s what’s happening to some of these people.

[RM2K3] it says "dderr_unsupported" but I have the latest directx

Have they tried turning it off and on again?

[RM2K3] Using Labels & Loops in Battle Events?

So I saw a list that said Labels and Loops will work in a battle event if pasted from elsewhere, but noticed the warning when trying it for myself.

Has anyone done this with their own battle events who can confirm it doesn't cause future problems or glitches?

I'm trying to loop things back around more efficiently instead of copying and pasting the same code with each 'what if' scenario. It's making the Battle Event pages gigantic.

At what point do you declare your project "finished"?

There will be time, not to worry, and the trade off is a feeling like no other. The time when they are little, and the stages they go through go by so quickly. Enjoy them.

Game making will always be here waiting for you.

At what point do you declare your project "finished"?

Preemptive congrats on the new addition to the family.

I know this is a month old post but w/e. I'm also seeking an answer to this question. I find myself some days obsessing over the most minute of details and wonder when enough will be enough. Will it ever? lol

I hope you're able to release the shackles of game making successfully when the time comes, and good luck with fatherhood!
