Theia - The Crimson Eclipse

So, when I boot up the game, it lags something fierce. Is anyone else having this problem?

Edit: Lag isn't -as bad- in combat, but the frame rate is choppy both in and out of combat.

Edit 2: Nevermind. Fixed it.

I have to say that for such a small download size, this game is huge. I've put off other games because I want to play-through this and give it a review...but that's a daunting task in itself.
The download size was originally small because the first release was back in 2004 before high speed internet connections were ubiquitous and decent free hosting existed. I've opted to keep the size down since this host, rpgmaker.net, is a non-profit that needs to keep server bandwidth costs low.

Everlong has the same amount of content I would expect of a complete commercial RPG in terms of hours to complete. Hopefully you enjoy the entire game!

I would absolutely appreciate a review, even if it's short and can't cover everything you'd like to say or address. The more reviews the better, especially since there's currently so few. I don't know if prospective players can get a good feel for what to expect from reading the reviews that currently exist.

It's quite impressive the amount of customization and options you've put into this - it's nice to tailor the look and functionality of my experience with the game. Too, I'm really enjoying the mapping so far - spaces aren't immense but they aren't too confined either.

Please do not insult someone just because they changed their game to haitus and won't talk to you. It's not necessary. Sometimes games just go through cancellations and such. Getting mad about it doesn't help.
And you should not put your opinion if you dont know what you are talking about, this guy left me in "seen" everytime i send him a message regarding the project, be it here or in Skype he just ignores me, i did 50% of all these rips and combat animations so i deserve a reply at least.

Ever consider they're busy and can only read your messages at a quick glance? As is, this particular persons last on-site activity was months ago, so they may be going thru a lull of activity.

As Liberty said - getting mad doesn't help.

Maybe try dropping the entitlement in your attitude and show some consideration that people might be going thru something on their end.

Could you stop spamming the page with demands and just be patient? When there's a demo, there's a demo, if there's a demo. Until then, let things be and stop acting this way.
Lol "be patient" lot of people here have been patient for lots of years for this fan made game, no need to be so harsh

I could've been harsher. Learn to edit your posts as double posting is frowned upon. But what I said still sits - patience.

And also

FFD is currently being made by a one-man team (me) and my real life job takes up a LOT of time during the winter season. On top of that, streaming and stuff also takes up some of my time. So yeah, work on FFD is slowwwww going at the moment, but I'm still working on it! :D

^this. Consideration for the creator and their life, too. They're working on it so as I said...be patient.

Can you not spam pages and double post?

And secondly, that demo is several years old. As with the other page, show some patience.

Penance Review

I'm glad you enjoyed Penance and from what you've said I think the game achieved its purpose. I will take your words into account when making my next game. Thanks for this useful review ^^

P.S. playing the "chaos" mode is like playing a different game. Maybe you should try it out as well. It's not going to change anything, just add a little more to the story.
I'll definitely give that a go when I've some free time then :D I'm just glad that my review was well received. I do look forward to seeing if you expand on the Crystalline mechanic because I very much enjoyed the freedom of stat growth. Reminded me of Legionwood and it's free-form stat growth and I'm always a fan of those.

Now, I didn't address it but the magic in the game - is it supposed to feel underpowered outside of Mana Burst? I found myself not using any of Isabelles magic outside of her OP healing one and Mana Burst.
Yes, I know :(
I found it hard to balance the magic spells in this game. Outside of exposing some weaknesses on specific enemies, most of the other skills are pretty useless (unless you have 999 Magic on Isabelle and use Sharp Mind). I made Mana Blast because the casters were underpowered when comparing to Grey and George (who can do a lot of damage with their weapon attacks).
That's why I added a skill-level-up system in the game I'm working on now (which is *sort of* a prequel to Penance).
I didn't remove the Crystaline mechanic, but I returned the level-up system and added some more stuff so people will be able to grind for levels and items, but ALSO customise the heroes.

Ahh, okay. See, I thought that was the case but since I had no definitive proof, I didn't mention it as part of the review in case it was a limitation based on the software or what have you.

Still! I'm excited to check out your future endeavors :D I'll be keeping an eye on ya.
