An RMN World Approaches!

When do you plan on getting this started? I'm definitely open for judging anywhere.

... Assuming the judging for the Super Contest will wrap up soon.

There should be an award for blogs like these.

Wow. So many profile views so fast.

-_-

FYI, I read both yours and Liberty's replies word for word. She never insulted you, you misinterpreted her argument for a personal attack.

Also, Game Design 101: NEVER assume the player knows the rules of your game. Even if Libby made a mistake by missing some NPCs, it's really not her fault as, by the very design of this game, you gave no real incentive for it.

Also, again, do NOT balance a game around optional content. Honestly, if the player is willing to waste time and money buying noodles, what's wrong with letting them? The main problem with the game is that you absolutely disregarded the alternative: The player ignoring the stuff and continuing on with the game. Punishing them that hard for not taking the optional content, especially when it's not adequately communicated that it's important to begin with, is a fast way for players to outright drop a game, from my experience.

We don't see support for your side because your side didn't warrant it, at all.

Wow. So many profile views so fast.

You haven't learned a thing, have you?

None of the problems with this game or with Liberty are out of your control. This entire thing is on you, and instead of recognizing that you have a choice in your actions, you are shifting the blame away from yourself and onto others.

But who fucking cares? We all make bad games at least once or twice. Suck it up and move on instead of stirring up a pathetic sympathy bait.

@sieromem: Yep, the concept with the Fab five is that while they use the same Pokemon, every one of them has a slightly different movepool and a different "role" on their team. Not much has changed since the beta I think.

I think Triple Triad is mostly a matter of whether you have the best cards or not. I'm not sure tweaking the difficulty of the current batch would help much, but I could at least make future card shops a bit more challenging. Also, duely noted on the cash rewards.

Also, I'll definitely tweak the rematches. Thank you!

@Neversilent. I can't seem to open the map through RMXP. Maybe you could send it as a project file?

The Button Input Processing command is really useful because, unlike the "if button is being pressed" condition, it requires an actual new button Input (so no holding a button down) and pauses the event command list until a button has been pressed. This makes it great for creating choice menus without scripts or the actual main menu.

Would it help you if I quickly set up a sample map with an event that demonstrates the function?

Sure!

There is an issue, though: the center and left Pokeballs both appear to hold Flaregon:

EDIT: Erm, wait. As soon as I clicked out of the right Pokeball, it immediately selected Fairimp. Not sure what's going on there, but at least you can choose any of the starters.
Interesting. I think that's a known bug on my end, but the problem is I'm at a loss as to how to address it.

The selection screen is tied to input events, and because RPG Maker doesn't have enough options to check input other than "pressing down a button," it tends to have stuff repeat constantly.

What may be happening is that after you're canceling, you are holding down the same input that's supposed to be checked while you are shifting the cursor to a new position, causing the condition to repeat itself.
May I ask how you have this choice set up in the event commands list? If you are using scripts for this, then I can't help you. But if you used the Conditional Branch option "if button is being pressed", I have a suggestion: Use the Button Input Processing command instead and let Conditional Branches check for the value of the corresponding variable. It's a little more complicated, but also less prone to creating bugs.
(Obviously, if you're already doing it this way, then never mind.)

That's something I'm not too familiar with, but it's worth trying out. Yeah, it seems like "if button is being pressed" is pretty problematic

Thank you SOO MUCH!!! But I'm sorry that you had to do a patch so early in release.

No problem at all! I kind of figured it was bound to happen. :P
Bugs like that are serious and can ruin the experience.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
(It's important because I used giant red text)

I just got a hotfix uploaded that fixes a major bug with the first gym leaders, which causes the game to freeze upon losing and then re-entering the gym. I highly recommend you download the latest version if you aren't up to the first gym yet.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
