You should see all the comments I skim through youtube of LPs of the game. There are even a few that say that the story was good.

They have to be trolling, because it just baffles me why anyone who has played that game enjoyed it to it's fullest.
Because Sonic fans are known to be extremely brain damaged in the best of cases.

You're magical to me.

Is that the game where Sonic kisses a human princess or something? Or am I thinking of a different game?
^ Yep, that's '06!

I think youtuber ClementJ642 put it best, though I can't remember if he was talking about '06 or Shadow the Hedgehog:
FTA: "But Clement, some people like that game."
Clement: "Those people need to turn twelve!"

I mean, if you're reading comments on youtube LP's, obviously a lot of them will be twelve-ish or younger.

I honestly think that's the only reason someone could genuinely defend that game: Its what they played as a kid, so... nostalgia?
Other than that, I suppose there could be some hipster points in liking it since no one else will.

Though, if we're talking about the "so bad its good" factor, I mean, how doesn't it succeed?
@Pizza That's a little much, but I guess you could put it that way.

@Ratty I think Turkey hit the nail on the head! The people who like the game are too young to know it's bad. It certainly isn't good~

I'm a Sonic fan and I do not have brain damage. I think Turkey hit the nail on the head.

Heck, when I played Sonic R when I was a Sonic-obsessed kid I had no idea how bad/mediocre that game really was.
Don't mind me, I'm just Sonic's number 1 hater.

Always and forever <3
Man I just realized how old Sonic '06 is. We need a new Sonic '06. Sonic '16. It's gotta be bigger though: Four hedgehogs, crossing time and dimensions, fighting Mega God Deluxe, and be on the only platform suitable for it: The XBone with Kinect controls.
I also would like to say "hit the nail on the head".

Make fun of Sonic R all you want, it still has better physics and control than Sonic Generations.
Yeah, I said it, COME AT ME BRO.

Complete with unlockable commentary by Kung Fu Jesus I would actually buy this if that happened

10/10 would buy.

I don't remember having to slowly turn a character into the right direction when playing that game.
That LP is what got me to buy Sonic '06. I had to experience the horrible brokenness for myself. It did not disappoint
The fractal of failure that Sonic '06 is is more engaging to me than most games of last gen. The ridiculous overarching plot, the horrible mix of Sonic-styled and realistic-styled characters, the god awful physics and controls, broken camera, all mixed with the feel that they were serious and tried until the game retcons itself out of existence. it was the perfect convergence of an awful game for me.

e: It's me, I'm the Sonic '06 fan. The above is my reasoning.

Because Generations is 90% auto-steering. In the few sections where you do have to manually turn more than 10 degrees (or do anything other than hold X), it honestly feels a lot like Sonic R to me, but with worse jumping controls.
PS: I think Generations is a decent game.

Also, every character and stage is DLC. When you first buy the game its just a title screen and intro FMV. Its also unplayable without a constant internet connection.

There was a time when Sonic was great. It was called Genesis, and it created Sonic the Hedgehog and saw that it was good, and then Sonic noticed he didn't have sidekick like all of the other anthropomorphized animal heroes and so Sega created Tails and saw that it was good. And Sonic and Tails made Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and it was good. Then Sega created Knuckles and it was good but not as good as Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and after that, the whole series just kind of went to crap from there. Never did get better.

You know, I think the only way they're ever going to make another good one is if they get a developer that has only played Sonic 1 and 2 on the Genesis and has never even heard of the later ones.

@pianotm: I say they are definitely getting back on their feet, at least recently. Despite the game mostly playing itself, Sonic Colors on the Wii was very enjoyable for me, and I like how the wisp mechanics affected the gameplay. The Sonic 4 series were also okay, though not really up to par with the genesis games if not solely for its improperly emulated physics.

I do with SEGA would stop shifting around Sonic's identity as a franchise, though. While Sonic Boom does look good, I fail to understand why the devs needed to change the look of Sonic's world. I also feel discouraged to try our Lost World due to how apparently the gameplay style was completely changed into something that doesn't play like a Sonic game should.
I've played the majority of Sonic games, and I wouldn't call any of the great. The old 3D games were seemingly programmed by highschool interns; the new 3D games either have no flow, are loaded with silly gimmicks, or are overly automated; and the 2D games' level design shows all the care, thought, and meticulous planning of an inkblot test.

I love Sonic games, because really, what else am I going to play to get my spin-dashing fix? However, a lot of times I feel like Sonic Team is just some dumping ground for new recruits who then go on to make SEGA's better games that no one ever talks about.
I think the way they stylize is kind of insignificant. But others disagree with me so Sega can't get it right due to there being no right. Poor Sonic...
