RINE'S PROFILE

Game designer hopeful. Have designed several tabletop RPGs, and have long wanted to start into the video game space.

My focus when designing is to create challenging experiences that force the player to make difficult choices, and change the paradigm when someone thinks of an RPG.

Achievements in Museum

I will buy games again, just to have achievements so its easier to tick off the list of everything I've done in the game. Its much easier to put away the game as fully completed if I have a steam achieve or PSN trophy that says you did all the little stuff.

If it has multiplayer only achieves, or really annoying grindy ones, I won't bother.

Character Blog, Set 3: The Bureau Chiefs

Well, like I said, a lot of this is in flux, and will probably get tweaked severely once Bureaus go in. Do note in the game proper, healing/recovering MP is already going to be hard to come by. So far only two characters (including the bureau chief here) have healing spells they can cast on others (there are a few self healing spells thrown around), and until item crafting goes in, there are no healing items.

Characters will only recover HP/MP otherwise if they are left out of a mission for one turn. This is intended to make players juggle the characters they use, and weigh using a damaged great character vs a fully healed weaker one. Essentially, HP/MP for individual characters are resources as well. You have to give them time to rest, or you risk getting them killed. On the Bureau side, characters deployed to Bureau's are ostensibly safer, but if you deploy characters with weaker defense/attack, they won't be able to manage the threats there as easily, and might get damaged while managing it. Finances themselves will be a seperate stat. In essence, the stats of the characters you deploy to the Bureaus will matter as well for various things.

Overall Concept and Features

Well, story-wise not a lot is decided. That's probably the most fluid part, since other than the overall plot (IE, need to collect certain tokens to weaken the final boss, tokens are at the end of a set of major storyline missions lines), not a lot is set in stone. Overall it will have several minor storylines that link to each other, but can be lost if you screw up or don't have the character for it (allowing replays), and some major storylines that you really have to screw up to lose the thread on. I'm hoping more to focus on the individual characters and the choices you make in recruiting them to your cause than the main story itself.
