I love musicals, even Marx Brothers, if that counts.
However, Disney ones always seem to suck at singing in the second half.
The recent Jungle Book couldn't make it's mind up. Though the original was barely better.
Into the Woods is great - my favorite scene is when the baker's wife and the prince are in the woods and they, like, cheat for no reason other than they're in the woods. That was really compelling to me for no reason at all. XD

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

Anyone who says the Marx Bros. don't count is going to have to take on two of us.

wot wot? No fite? I wanna fite.
I mean Marx Bros had like one musical number per movie. I don't really think it actually counts. Often it just feels like their variety show background kicking in.

I quite like the new TV show musical thingies that have been cropping up. I mean I really enjoyed Galavant and also Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has had some amazing stuff in it.

What the crap? How many Marx Bros. movies have you seen? They have multiple ones, like any other Depression Era musical. Most have at least five, if not closer to ten.
I have to admit I've basically only seen the MGM movies and Duck Soup but I don't really remember the musical numbers being a big part of those. (except for that one in the middle of every one that always comes out of nowhere)

I haven't watched a Marx Brothers movie since I was in my teens (you know, there's so much available in modern mass media, you just forget to go back to the things you grew up with.), but I seem to recall there being plenty of music in A Night at Casablanca, and Room Service.

Well yeah, they're not the stuff we have in modern musicals, because the modern musical wasn't totally codified at the time. Discounting them from the medium altogether would be like saying Final Fantasy isn't a RPG because there aren't any dialog choices.
Well I'm one of those obnoxious people who say Final Fantasy isn't an rpg because, among other things, it doesn't have dialogue choices :)

Final Fantasy 7 was a dating sim with a battle system and novel wrapped around it.
