How can you create an event from a script for RPG VX or RPG XP?

Holy shit google Quest (dragonquest for google)

What do you want from a ShMUP

I've been injured a few weeks and I've done nothing but play R-Type and Gradius. Now that I'm able to move around again I made my own ShMUP engine in about 3 hours. I've made other ShMUPZ in my life, but I think this is the shockingly best. So I was thinking about making it into a full game.

What do you like about ShMUPZ? Crazy challenge requiring pin point accuracy or cool and fun weapons or anything else?

A new combat strategy (cutting off heads, making limbs useless)

So I'm in the process of making a combat engine for your standard RPG game. It seems like everything else. Agility determines how quick you attack. Lose all HP and death happens. But I was thinking of making something richer like combatants with heads, aim for the head and you have a 50% chance of hitting, but it will do double the damage. Aim for a limb it will do less damage, but weaken the limb so they cannot hurt you as much. Aim for a leg it will slow down a combatant if not prevent them from running. This all would be on top of a standard attack.

This way, combatants can wear specific armor like helmets mean a lot more to your head than it does to your body. BOdy armor doesn't mean much if you're arrow shot through the head.

Would anyone like if RPGs did this? Or is a simple attack enough? I've never played Fallout, but I do know about the VAT targeting system :-)

DC Universe Online is now Free to Play

And its meh. I don't really play MMOs, because they're boring click fests. This is no different. The start quest was very meh and I had an interesting bug at the start of it that wouldn't let me out of the first room but drained my health dead because I took so long.

Customization is fantastic and I saw a Bayonetta flying around after the start quest. The sad thing for the game is 75% of players haven't even reached the first achievement.

Combat could have been less click based and more action oriented given the subject matter. My powers of wall crawling (not that I asked for them) seemed to be pointless as a stealth character when you're forced to click kill your way through enemies to get to the next section. Couldn't I at least stealth kill while clinging to the ceiling?

Melee combat could have been a lot richer. There is a block, an attack, a special attack and a jump button. But I would have liked some diversity, like a jump kick... or a push block right as the enemy attacks to parry, or dodging or hold left and attack for a jab, down and attack for a kick.

What can you do with squares? (TOWN edition)

People often accurately complain about the RPGVX Run Time Package Chipset.
I wonder what we could do with it if we all tried our hardest.

TOWN EDITION

Theme
The theme of this contest is to make an town of sorts out of just he RPGVX RTP chipset.

Description
This contest will run similarly to the original "VX RTP MAPPING CONTEST". Make a map within the rules, submit it, and win! The difference is that this contest will be judged rather than having users vote, and once all the dungeons are finished, the selected ones will be compiled into one big game along with the maps from a contest being run by Ben_random: "What can you do with Squares: Dungeon Edition".

-The town must be created in RPG Maker VX.
-One submission per person.

-Each shop interior must be 17x13 with no more than 3 floors (ground floor, 2nd floor and basement)

To submit, PM me a download link of your dungeon, and I will post the link on this thread for other people to download.
The deadline for submissions is September 2nd, 2011, Central Time Zone. (USA).

There will be a first, second, and third place winner. The first place winner will receive a 50makerscore achievement, and the participants will receive a 25makerscore achievement. (Makerscore amount subject to change)

Posting On This Thread
Want feedback? Feel free to post screenies of your maps for feedback from other users. I will try to eliminate all stealing of maps, but I really think that I can trust this community.
NOTE: Posting a screenie of your town here DOES NOT mean it is submitted.

I made idea generators

I wish I could make a random game generator... but since I can't, in the meantime I'll have to settle for this. >>
- Party generator
- Quest generator
- Regions generator
- Game generator
- Weapons & tiers generator
- Equipments & tiers generator
- Foes generator

Here it is >> http://rpgmaker.net/users/ShortStar/locker/questgen7.swf

There are other generators out there, but I tried to design this one specific for RPG Maker games. If anyone knows how to hack RPG Maker... one day I can make this generate basic games.

Let me know what you think! Thanks.
I'm sure its not perfect.

Anyone need a RPG VX mapper?

I'm bored... Anyone need a RPG VX or Ace mapper? Sure I'm not the best, but I do good work...

Dealing with difficult clients

Edited. You can trash this.

I think I bought 2 counterfiet Final Fantasy GBA games on ebay.

So I won 2 cheap Final Fantasy GBA games on eBay (FF5 and FF6). Then after I won I noticed the seller's profile is in Singapore. Yet in the item description it said he was from the Philippines and misspelled as Filipines. That was the first red flag.

The second red flag was the fact that I didn't win either game. I was part of the 2nd chance program where if the winner doesn't pay, the runner up gets a chance to buy it. That's ok, but both 2nd chance offers came 1 minute after the item expired. The items expired 2 hours apart from one another. Makes me think the seller was just counterfietting copies.

The seller hasn't given me feedback yet on either item.

Now I got the items 2 weeks later. Both items have unassembled boxes along with cardboard inserts and they stink of fresh ink. It looks very professional still.

The instruction booklets are both 6 pages and that seems a little light for Final Fantasy games. The first 2 pages are BIG BOLD WARNINGS about BATTERY LEAKAGE and SIEZURES and INJURY. huh? I've seen warnings like that before, but not big glaring. The instruction booklet pages seem to be the cheapest I've ever seen for a game.

Putting in both games, they feel unusually snug. The cartridges are a slightly different color than a real cartridge and when I look at the chip, there's a slot just big enough to slip a screwdriver in and pry it open. The real cartridges don't have that.

Then when I fire up the games, there are big glaring warnings of: HEALTH AND SAFETY. It makes me feel like the games are going to explode.

As for the games themselves, they feel legit. The FF6 plays, saves and loads. FF5 plays, but doesn't save or load. It says the file is corrupt.

It is interesting to say the least and not the first time this has happened to me. Years ago when the GBA was fresh, I bought a game on Amazon that fit tight in the GBA and ended up to be a ROM complete with a hacked by so and so screen.
