Hi I do art mostly but also do games.

Please read my comic, Patchwork and Lace. It's about a Lovecraftian Disney Princess dark mage and her superpowered undead partner hunting monsters and being bad at communication.

What do guinea pigs dream about? Probably not this, but just roll with it.

[Poll] THE MOST IMPORTANT POLL

A FATEFUL CHOICE

hhf is spotlighted twice

I don't think hhf deserves to be spotlighted twice it is really not that great.

There should be an easily found mod list

IDK if this exists already and I just can't find it but there should be a list of who's staff and what they're in charge of, and it should be linked under the community tab. This will 1) make it easier for users to figure out which colorful name to listen to in a particular situation, B) let users know who to contact if there's an issue with X forum thing, and III) let us laugh at people who make posts complaining that their game page hasn't been approved yet, because they couldn't be bothered to look for who to contact.

E: Title should read "staff" instead of "mod," apparently.
Also it should be stickied in like What's Happening and/or everywhere just to make it super easy to find.

Dark mode?

Is there a dark mode?

If there is not, there should be a dark mode, because I know all the nerds here are reading this site in their dark basement lairs.

Save the nerd eyeballs!

Profile changes keep reverting

In the past week I've twice experienced a situation where I changed my quote and/or avatar, made sure the change was saved (and even saw the change in a post) only to see the change has reverted later on.

This is weird and kind of annoying because I need to keep up with the changing fashions in order for people to like me.

Hello RMN please help me try something out!

I am going to give you a puzzle! Please reply with whether you think I have given enough information to solve it, how easy it was for you, and any other comments you might have. Do this especially if you are having trouble with it! ETA: The answer may or may not look gibberishy to you, so if you think you did what you were supposed to, post what you got, please!

If you think you has the solution, please post it under the hide tag!
That's the little eyeball icon with the red slash through it.

Here is the puzzle:

Thank you for your help!

[PAID] "Composer" (read: person who can use music making software) needed

Yo I need a looping Shepard-Risset Glissando. I know this is probably the equivalent of asking someone to open a jar for me, but I can't be bothered to figure it out on my own, so I am willing to toss some big cash money in if need be to make up for whatever time is lost in giving me the thing.

[RMVX ACE] Modding weather

OK I know that there's some way to change rain color... somehow... Can you do the same with snow? How does it work? Is it a simple graphic thing or am I gonna have to pester/bribe a coder?

Make the rules easy to find

In an attempt to be sassy, I wanted to throw a link to the rules in a reply to this topic. But I ran into a problem: I can't really find them in the usual places one would expect the rules to live! Not even searching for "rules" in the custom search helped! I eventually found them in the eensy weensy text at the bottom that nobody ever looks at because 90% of the time it's worthless info.

There's no link to the rules in the Community menu. There's no list of rules in the "New to RMN" article. There's not even a stickied post in the main forum. I can read a post about rules for submitting games from 2014, but I can't easily find the rules for using the forum.

So, I suggest adding a link to the rules in the Community menu and a sticky post in the forum. These are the places most people are likely to think to check. It'll make it easier on newbies, AND give the added bonus that maybe there'll be fewer bannes needed for dumb shit!

[RMVX ACE] Can you keep track of where a character is facing?

I'm figuring out some details for idle animations. When a character is at rest, does the engine have a way of knowing which direction they're facing? (Basically, would I be able to/need to do idles for four directions, or would I just be doing a single one?)
