[Poll] World Salvation General Rebirth!
Alright then, this is going to be an odd thing, but I have an oddly horrible idea. And, I mean the idea is horrible...just read what it is, as I'm trying to figure out what exactly I should do with this idea:
Yeah...I almost have an engine done for it, but right now I'm looking to see if anyone would even be interested in playing a game with that description...so, would anyone?
Long after the last great general came to the world, the world was invaded by an unknown species known calling themselves the Kurome Sonye Jia. No one knew if they were daemons, ancient spirits, or simply Alien invaders, but what was clear was that none of the convention forces were effective against them, as they quickly conquered almost half of the known world. However, during one of the great battles, some soldiers disturbed the tomb of a great general, and in the process, discovered that some fluid from a Kurome Sonye Jia brought them back to life long enough to kill one of the enemies. Frantically excited at this news, Scientists immediately set about digging up the bodies of old generals, commanders, warlords, and other such people and brought in the body of the dead Kurome Sonye Jia, using all the fluids from the creature they could to bring back the any one of them. Eventually, they succeeded in bringing back a copy of Alexander the Great...but then quickly discovered three facts:
1. They were unable to replicate another general with the available fluids they had
2. Alexander required someone to direct his actions in battle
3. Alexander was now a Girl
After using and directing Her to destroy more Kurome Sonye Jia, it was discovered that rebirthing each of the generals required different types and amounts of fluids from the creatures, and that it was only by pure luck that the one creature had enough for Alexander, with their secondary attempts failing massively. Attempting to bring back the other generals revealed similar results, with each of them requiring large amounts of fluids and each one being the opposite gender of the person they once were. Regardless of those facts, enough of the Commanders were brought back to stem the tides of the Kurome Sonye Jia, and the project was declared a success.
Now, you have been selected to lead a detachment of these commanders, keeping their personalities in line and directing them towards a total victory over the Kurome Sonye Jia, and save the world!

Attempting to code a battle engine
So...This is some code that I tried to code on my own for a sort of side project where...I'm honestly too embarrassed by the idea to describe it here, so I'll just present my problem. The actual formulas aren't in there yet, but I was wondering if someone could tell me these three things:
1. How to have the buttons activate a different formulas depending on which one is pushed.
2. How to display the name, HP (health points), and MU (Munitions) for each of the characters.
3. How to set a picture to each of the characters.
Here is the coding I have done:
1. How to have the buttons activate a different formulas depending on which one is pushed.
2. How to display the name, HP (health points), and MU (Munitions) for each of the characters.
3. How to set a picture to each of the characters.
4. Isn't as important now, but it is how to change the character. I assume I can set it to the buttons later, but I can do it later.
Here is the coding I have done:

Noche (An RPG idea that I am running through and looking for feedback for)
OK, I do not have enough visual concept material to necessitate posting them online yet, though if there is enough demand for it, I will post what I have online. In the meantime, I have struck upon a game I wish to develop, or at the very least, ask the opinion of. Basically, the story I have is this:
Aside from that, I was thinking of having it be more or less standard turn based combat system, with a party of 8 people at the Max. I don't know if it is possible, but I was also thinking of having encounters being done by running into guys on the field instead of at random, like Earthbound or Persona, to give the player the option to avoid combat if they are good enough. It is a little hard to describe here, but i also wanted there to be a more meso-american feeling to it in terms of enemies, characters, and environments. As I think of more, or if there is a general curiosity for it, I will post more details and pictures.
With that being said, please tell me what you think of the idea so far, or if you are interested in helping.
Thank you for reading, and have a nice day.
Once, there lived a handsome prince, who inherited from his father a wonderful kingdom to call his own. But the prince had been raised to be vain and useless, as he spent more time attending to his vices than his learnings. This was widely apparent when he finally took his throne, as he wasted his kingdom's wealth upon himself. When that ran out, he attacked his neighboring kingdoms, only succeeding in wasting away the loyal men he had. Without hesitation, the prince decided instead to steal his wealth from the temple's granaries and treasuries.
Within a month of his transgression, the rains stopped falling, the rivers dried up, and the wells refused to yield. Less than half a year passed, and the only food remaining was that inside others already, save for the prince. When the people begged him for sustenance, he laughed them off, meaning leaving them to survive upon each other. Desperate, the people burned what little they had left to their God's, begging them to force the him to see the errors of his ways. After much thought, the God's obliged, but also decided to add a new element.
From the prince, they took his beauty, leaving him as a horrid beast owned only by his vices, and left alone by all his followers. For the people, they took away death, and brought back those who had died. But the gods were blind to the diferences amongst their subjects, taking away death from the prince and the beauty from his followers as well. One final thing the gods had specified a single condition for both groups to be freed of their curse: if the prince was married to one who loved him before the New Fire Festival, then the curses would be lifted. However, should the prince remain in his arrogant ways alone for the festival, then the curse would remain: the prince and his people would live forever.
The game itself would take place, big shocker, many years later, in the opening days of the New Fire Festival, with the player being the brother (or sister, I think I'll leave that up to the player) of the New Flame, the Girl from which the Holy Fire will spring forth. As another big shocker, the prince's subjects have decided to kidnap her, as they know her beauty will be more than enough to sway the prince to marry her. However, if the New Flame is then the world will spiral into darkness until there is no life left.

Tricon (game idea)
I don't know if this is the right forum for this (and if it isn't, please let me know), but here we go:
Ok, this is an idea I have, and have been tossing around for about 3 months. A major thing that I'm tossing around is the combat system, but I'll get back to that later. For now, here's the high concept (yes, it will sound familiar to another game):
Thirteen years ago, Amethyst Industrials released the first of the Catalysts, special crystals which are capable of storing and displaying the information of their newest product aimed towards encouraging face-to-face interaction and competition between users: Tricons. With a heavy emphasis on magic, users were nicknamed Summoners. Within those intervening years, it quickly became one of the most popular phenomenons, resulting in the formation of an international league and numerous minor leagues. However, efforts to form a cohesive international tournament ended in disaster, when the first official league ended prematurely, with the results being permanently sealed. Now, after several years of silence, the international tournament has returned, with the former Champions from other main leagues being called upon to add legitimacy and challenge, while certain "incentives" and rewards convince them to participate. While most people can't afford the steep entrance fee (you included), a mysterious set of papers and colorless Catalyst seem to have earned you an entry.
So yeah, it's a bit muddled right now, but it gets the general idea across.
The main problem I have, is with the combat system, as I can't choose (i.e., would like a general opinion) between:
a.1v1
-Static, standard combat. think Pokemon or Earthbound
b.teamvteam
-Whole team at once, but still more or less static think Final Fantasy or Brave Frontier
c.Free form
-Only one Tricon, however, you face of in an arena, and have to manually aim all your attacks Think Zelda or Kingdom Hearts
Something I want to do is have the player be able to fight the Champions in the order they choose, with the Champions difficulty (and rewards) scaling with them. The last 4 champions will not have an associated dungeon with them, as they will all be at a grand arena, meaning that you would also loose out on any items, money, and experience that you would have got facing them.
I have some concept art for the Tricons and Champions, both of which, I plan on drawing too much of at first, before refining it down, but I only have 1 sketch dump scanned in:
Thank you for reading this. If you have any question, comments, concerns, want to help, want to bash, etc., please let me know either here or through pm.
Have a nice day.
