Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Oh snap that looks well too hectic, how do you even know what's going on if it's all 'up' 'left' 'left' 'down' 'left' 'right' maybe put the rooms key feature in the name aswell. Or just do what Craze did and plan it out in grid formation.

An Official *English* Version of 2k3 Approaches!

^That's a good point about knowing how to use it, but unless there would be allowances for using mods (even just the david/goliath ones) I would feel slightly peeved, that and I have no money.

An Official *English* Version of 2k3 Approaches!

I wouldn't buy it even if it became legal. After all this time there's not really much point, I'm gonna finish one game with it for old times sake then move on and buy a later and better version (whatever that may be when I get finished).

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

That video had me laughing quite a few times, would like to play it when it gets translated.

Working on something myself at the moment, kind of a spiritual successor to LOTPS in terms of setting (and the basis of the battle system).

Currently uses the same layout and images as LOTPS though for the battles but as it's something I coded from scratch and added stuff to I don't feel it would be right to post screen shots that scream 'stolen'.

It basically uses the cr system from LOTPS in which each attack or skill uses up a different amount of cr, so the more the cr cost the longer you have to wait until you can act again. It also has a momentum style system where the more you attack the more momentum you build up which increases damage, on the other hand when you defend you gain a boost in momentum for your next turn, but after that it resets to 0. So you can defend in a pinch when you need to but to get enough damage to effectively kill your enemies you can't just sit and turtle.

Not much gameplay at the moment though besides a few maps as I haven't got a full plot in my head much. Any words of wisdom about why my battle system would be boring/awesome/completely useless are appreciated.

EDIT: Also, would like to lol at the butthurt guy on the previous page

Motivation sapping dungeons/maps... how do you deal with them?

Towns, god damn I hate mapping towns. Usually saps my motivation as theres not really much fun stuff going on in them, like puzzles or etc, also, mine always feel so 'heres x number of houses in a square' ok good done.

Generally I take a break then try and think of ways to make the area more fun when I come back to it, I also tend to play through other rm games to get a feel for how others map their towns.

Boring stuff when playing. Its gotta be those dungeons that are just extended treks designed to extend the gameplay somewhat. Not an rm example but the libra king tower in Rogue Galaxy was a bitch for this. "What's that? You got to the top? Ok now go back to the start and go the other way". Probably could do with a giant drill going through them.

EDIT: I always get sad when my post looks so much longer and informative in the editor.

Hello you happy shiny people.

Good to see other people still using 2k3, makes me feel less out of the loop, welcome and good luck

What are your System specs?

Os: OSX
Cpu: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Ram: 4GB DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256mb

For when I'm using rm2k3

Os: Windows 7 via VMWare Fusion
Cpu: Single core
Ram: 2GB

Yeah it sucks ass, I managed to corrupt my bootcamp when I deleted it and went to remake it, and I cant fix it with a restore cos my osx install disc is fucked.

:'(

Anyone out there practicing martial arts?

I used to do a lot of karate when I was younger (shotokan) and restarted in wado-ryu the summer before last, had trouble finding a club near me in dubai though (havn't done my driving test yet) but will go back to it when I move to Canada hopefully,
also done a couple of years of Muay Thai (spelling?).

I want to get into the whole thing a lot more to be honest :/

Hello I am anthnintendofan

Welcome,
try and enjoy every part of making a game and you shouldn't have too many troubles, always quit myself as I hated mapping in the past, good luck man.

Yo I'm new kinda?

Feels good to be back xD Been reading up on the articles about mapping and storytelling, hopefully I'll have something good to show you all in the next few weeks.
Edit: Eventing was always my thing my maps were always square boxes that burned the eyes to look at, hopefully no longer.
