TUOMO_L'S PROFILE

I have been making games since the year 2000, in this time my games have won numerous awards and many of them have been critically acclaimed. I have performed many different roles in game making; from making sprite art, audio editing, beta testing, coding, designing and being a team leader.

These experiences have led me to develop my skills as a videogame developer and it’s an ideal job for me, one that I had always dreamt of ever since I was little. Recently, I have ventured into releasing commercial games including updating my older projects into more commercial and presentable. My first commercially released game is called Save Your Mother.

Despite making games for long, I try and learn a bit something new every time I start new project and love to experiment on new areas and go away from my comfort zones.

I always get really sad writing scenes where a young character cries.

I get really sad when puppies look all sad.

Oh, yeah. Sad animals is also really sad too if it's like a cute kitten or doggy that's clearly not well.

Thank God for him.

Hmm. Born two weeks after Christmas. That must've made for a few double-up presents.

Happy Birthday/Merry Christmas! :D
I have a february birthday which was always nice. :)

How was your birthday, Tuomo?

It was fun, my mom and her bf came over and we had some pizza and ate ice cream. I got Lucky Luke live action box set as present, I am huge fan of the comics and Terrence Hill was my childhood hero so that was a really nice surprise.

My game is one of the top sold games with RPG Maker tag on Steam.

My best advice is to try. If you never try, you can never succeed. Sometimes it takes a leap of faith to be able to achieve greatness. This video is a great motivational one that I think speaks of this subject

Remember that marketing indie games, especially RPG Maker games nowadays is really hard, many people get pimples from just seeing anything with RPG Maker on it. You most likely won't be able to make massive sales on your first try when you're no name developer. Take each small step and slowly build your customer base while you start to slowly move towards more expensive products and thus maximize income. If you have the money, maybe even invest into making a free game with pay DLC such as "supporters sword" and some cute shirt that says "I am awesome." and price it for 0,99$ for those who want to show their support for you.

Using sales events and give aways is also a great way of getting lots of positive customer recognition. They are also really fun to do.

I really didn't want this to be comparision to others but since you wanted to do it, Adventures of Dragon is literally higher than Ara Fell right now, when putting RPGMaker as tag and selecting games to filter out the DLC and bundles.
You're comparing a game that released 18 months ago against a game that released a week ago. Ara Fell has already made the bulk of its sales and the fact that it remains within 10 places (of a weekly sales chart) of your super successful new release speaks to its strength. If you want a fairer comparison I'm sure Badluck would be willing to release his first week sales.

I mean, Lisa was released in 2014 and is on 3rd spot still. It's not unfair comparision at all. Plus, I'm not the one doing it, Steam is.

Plus, if we're getting technical, Adventures of Dragon has had 0 launch visibility since it's Early Accces. I've not had access to the Steam's visibility rounds, this is completely without any of that. Those will come later when it'll be fully launched.

I'm not that familiar with Steam, but I think there might be some region differences in the sites. I only see Top Sellers in mine, and nothing anywhere called Global Top Sellers.

EDIT: Gah, forgot that I can't hyperlink it. Google the Global Top Sellers, you'll find the global sellers instead of your regional.

What I have a problem with is not bragging; it's dishonesty. But I could let it go if he wasn't trying to form a publishing company.

It's not dishonest. All 3 of my games are in the global top sellers list right now.

I really didn't want this to be comparision to others but since you insist on doing it, Adventures of Dragon is literally higher than Ara Fell right now, when putting RPGMaker as tag and selecting games to filter out the DLC and bundles.

Page 2, just under Stitched.

At top of page 3.

I wasn't ever going to bring this up but you keep claiming I'm dishonest and acting really rude for no reason.

EDIT: All three of my games were earlier. Strangers is no longer after the sales ended. Remember, it's Steam, Global Sellers lists can change literally within days. After new update, it's only 7 pages of Global Top Sellers as opossed to the earlier. Adventures of Dragon has also been only on the rise since it was lower on page two earlier.

I really don't understand why you guys are trying to constantly downplay this milestone for me. Tons of RPG Maker games released not even half make it to Global Top Sellers list on Steam. I had literally all my games on the list for a while.

It's on the middle of the third page. Of five pages. I'm not sure how you could reasonably call that one of the "top" games.

"RPGMaker" is the main tag used, not "RPG Maker". When searching for that, you're on page 5 of 12, which doesn't sound half bad, until you look at what's beneath it. For reference, using that tag, Ara Fell is the 31st top selling game. Strangers of the Power is 111th and Save Your Mother is 119th.

What is your goal here, Toumo?

No goal, just saw it was in the Global Top Sellers list and got all hyped and wanted to share. There's more than 20 pages full of RPG Maker games on Steam and not even half of that makes it to Global Top Seller even last spot. Plus, you have to filter out the games otherwise there's tons of DLC for RPG Makers themselves and the engines.

Also honestly? Adventures is higher than they are already within a week.

EDIT: Also, are you sure your game is one of the top sold games with RPG Maker tag on Steam. Because I just searched Top Sellers with RPGMaker tag, and I don't find any of your games on that list (they're Save your Mother and Stranger of the Power, right?): http://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/RPGMaker/#p=1&tab=TopSellers
Yeah, it's on 3rd page on top sellers in that small list or in 2nd page in "show all"

EDIT: Ah, direct link don't work. But it's on third page of top sellers in the link you gave.
I don't know, man. This is what I see on page 3 on my side, and your game's not there: https://rpgmaker.net/media/content/users/2613/locker/RPGMaker.png

Maybe the top sellers' actually region-locked. If that's true, then it's probably only popular in your region and not worldwide.

No, I'm talking about Global Top Sellers.

If you look at Big Global top sellers, both Save Your Mother and Strangers of the Power are in Global top sellers list.

You can also use RPGMaker tag and both show up.
