TYRANOS'S PROFILE

My name is Richard Allen Torruellas and I love to play games. I also like to do many other things but mostly it's games for me. To me a game has to be fun and some are fun while remaining buggy pieces of crap.

Games inspire a lot of what I do and they make me feel like I get to know the person who made them a little bit more.

Streaming Help + New Job

So it's no lie that RMN has some dope ass games on it. Born Under the Rain, Boutalles, Dragon Quest Legacy, Homework Salesman, Avarice, and more complex games are definitely hitting the downloads page compared to some years ago. However streaming RPG maker games seems to result in a flickering effect that puts strobe lights to shame.

Now I had been LPing these games for YouTube until a year ago when I got picked up by a partner of HG and then merged?/collabed? with another group. So to summarize this,

- Streaming with HG and Outpost (I'll be doing filler between the two days they have the A team streaming so RPG maker games will be getting a ton of time here)
- YouTube Channel DragonEye which is where reviews will go in video format for those who do not like walls of text with screenshots, as written reviews tend to be.
- Second YouTube Channel which is politics based. Not ideologies, politics. You can sit there and talk about how superior cars would be under your ideology to a woman who needs help on the side of the road. I intend to pull out the toolbox and actually fix her car. Get over it. (This landed me my salary-man job)
- My actual job IRL that I got hired to do because of my second channel.
- Finally managing Outposts schedules and trying to line up times for collabs with our new friends from Canada and our old partners from the US, and now we are looking at an actual merge with a French group. This is a royal pain in the ass by the way. Never manage this shit if you are offered the chance to. NEVER. In the words of my favorite admiral, it's a trap!

Anyways with all this on the plate I have little time to figure out why OBS won't capture a non flickering RPG maker game. I tried different versions of RPG maker too, it's all of them. So I figured someone here must know or have an inkling as to why this is considering it seems like something programmed into RPG maker that I don't know about but need to calculate for.

I officially work for Outpost, a subsidiary/partner of HG, friends with BasedGamer and soon to try a collab, and I know nothing yet of the French group or I'd give the name for them as well.

Anyways look forward to our booth at E3 as well as other conventions!

I think one of you got stolen from

Okay I just saw this video on the Jimquisition and I swear I've seen some of the maps before in this game. I'm not talking about seeing similar assets either. I mean quite literally some of the maps in this game look like copy pastes of games I've played on here. Notably the ice caverns part puts me in mind of one of Craze's (I think) games.

I could be wrong but I'm getting a massive sense of Deja Vu looking at any maps in the game. Like I've played on them before.

The Ice Caverns at 3:15 REALLY give me the feeling though. Did this guy jack maps from people's games or is my mind playing tricks on me?

A Girl's Bucket List

4th of July Plans

So I won't be able to record for a few days now since fireworks are constantly going off in the street. I am curious as to what everyone will be up to this 4th. I hear some people vacation instead of lighting fireworks. Anyone doing anything out of the norm?

I'm visiting a friend and we are going to the beach. She misses doing that with her old friends in her hometown.

[RMXP] Input bug

So playing Nsala Liberation is teaching me that RMXP has a sort of bug where occasionally you can break your input for the game and all other XP games. Has anyone figured out a way around this or an easy fix? So far I keep having to restart my computer to fix the problem.

Fullscreen No Longer Works

So I recently got a program called ScreenBright from this site http://lifehacker.com/5985364/change-your-monitors-brightness-without-fiddling-with-its-buttons

This is the ONLY change from perfectly running RPG maker games to black screens with a weird little box that flickers in the top left corner. Assuming this is what caused the issue being the only change and that it somehow fucks with the scripts for RPG maker how exactly does one go about disabling it's effects? I've tried everything I know but sadly I cannot run any RPG maker games.

Again this has affected every version of RPG maker. It's been the only change. I run windows 7. Any ideas?

EDIT: I might need to calibrate my display again because I did update a driver, it happens automatically. However I'd have no idea how that would break RPG maker games playing on fullscreen.

Windward Give Away

Due to how cheap I was able to get Windward on Steam I ended up purchasing a 4 pack. Now I have no one aside from one friend who plays games like this so I'm giving away the other two. Any takers? Send me your Steam ID and I'll send you one.

Thank You

Something that isn't said enough to this community for their hard work.

I know there are some crazy people in the community and that there is a lot of garbage games out there. Some people even abuse Steam's lack of quality control to sell amateur mediocre games. However in general since my old friend Benjamin Reid introduced me to RPG maker in middle school, games have increased in quality.

I don't know how or where inspiration has struck many of the game makers around here but I'll be the first to say thank you to a community for promoting growth over just being a clique. I never thought I would say this but some of the games on this site could easily have been sold and given RPG maker a good reputation. Among those completed games stand many of Anaryu's, Homework Salesman, Boutalles, or even Lunar Wish: Orbs of Fate.

So without sucking up more time, thank you.

Fantasy Football? Pfft! Fantasy Game Dev Team!

Okay so this has probably been done to death but I'm curious as to what everyone's dream team would be. Now imagine the team gets along nicely and is generally supportive and productive regardless of who might actually be in it and real life relations. Who do you think would make the best team to develop an RPG and why? Maybe segment things into sections like "Mapping" "Writing" "Art" if you want to elaborate more.

I personally would love to see the following team do a project: dhm, Brickroad, Nessiah, KoopaKush, Fallen Griever (Sated now I think), Dark Gaia, Aegix Drakan, and finally Anaryu. I feel that this team would make a damn good RPG if they managed to stick to what they do best and coordinate efforts.

To be exact Koopa and Brick would stick to mapping and map design. dhm and Dark Gaia would stick to scripting and minigame design. Fallen Griever and Aegix Drakan can do story and character design. Anaryu and Nessiah just lord over all of them and make them work...with a whip. Just kidding they would do interface design because I like their HUD and Menu design, top notch artwork.

So who is YOUR fantasy game dev team?

Messed up hiring policy

So just a few days ago I sent in two resumes to the same company and I even filled out their questionnaires exactly the same. Save for two things, one resume was Richard Julius Torruellas, while the other was Richard Allen Torruellas. Of course the final difference was one said yes to a form that asked if the applicant suffered from any disabilities all the while before and after explaining that it would not impact hiring policies or be taken into account. The resume that said yes was sent an email stating that the applicant did not meet basic qualifications as stated on the requisition form, while the other that said no to being disabled got a call asking for an interview. Not only am I not standing them up I'm going in and telling them the truth, with a camera in their face. I also plan on telling them the footage is going on YouTube and being sent to the media. This is clearly discrimination as had they read the resumes they would not have stated "Oh you don't meet qualifications.". How does the SAME RESUME meet the specs but the other doesn't? What clearly happened is they read the answers to their own questionnaire first and based on that which is NOT stated as having requirements and in fact is constantly saying "There is no right answer for any of these questions and they have no impact on hiring policy."

Yeah I plan on slamming these people because that's fucked up. What if my disability was having my leg shot off in a war? What if it was a disability that does not impact actual Customer Service Representation despite showing 3 years of solid service in the field on the resume?

So what are your thoughts guys? Did I catch them banging the toaster with their pants down? 5 associates of mine are doing the same experiment and looking at an IM I just got on skype the SAME thing happened for two of them. Only this time they only had an initial for a middle name and changed that alone from D. to L.
