I'm more or less not on RMN anymore and haven't been for over a year (contrary to belief, it's not over the AI rules - that's just the straw that broke the camel's back). Find me on Discord and/or my games on Itch: https://uprc.itch.io/

[RMMV] Looking for battle animation artist.
I didn't think that I would need to do this, but I'm putting this request out there.
I've been handling all of my game's graphics (minus portraits and monsters) completely on my own so far, and while I've had no issues doing sprites and tiles (I've actually been enjoying it!), battle animations are proving to be a little trickier. Designing nice looking spell and weapon effects is definitely not my area of expertise and I'm issuing a call for anyone who would like to help to lend a hand if willing! Let me clear about what this request entails as well, just to clear up possible confusion which has occurred in the past.
What I do not want: Someone who is willing to edit rips or offer franken creations (assets made from cutting and pasting parts from various pieces together). I am also not looking for recolours. Penumbra Crystallis features entirely original graphics, no rips. I appreciate any desire to help, I really do, but these are not things that I need nor will they make it into the game.
What I do want: Someone who is able to create, from scratch, assets that are reminiscent of early SNES RPGs. Think Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy IV, Paladins Quest, etc. Another example of the quality I'd aim for is Shining Force on the Genesis. Again, only talking about battle animations. No monsters, character sprites, etc. Just the bare animation graphics.
If this is something that you're interested in, hit me up by replying here, sending me a message, or contacting me over Discord. Ideally I'd be looking for a hobbyist who just wants to help out of the goodness of their heart and desire to support a fellow RPG Maker user, but I'm also 100% open to battle animation graphics being commissioned for reasonable prices.
Also, the game in question that I am working on is Penumbra Crystallis. You can check the game page accessible through my profile or check the dev blog for a thorough idea of what the game is all about and how it looks: https://penumbracrystallis.blogspot.com/

[MV] Show min/max HP and MP in battle and hide gauges?
[RMMV] Looking for someone to create some retro (SNES-esque) character portraits and monster sprites.
Hey folks.
So, my project (Penumbra Crystallis) is using 100% original/custom graphics. I'm doing all character sprites and tiles at the moment, but I lack the skill to create character portraits and monster sprites. Basically, I'm just looking for someone who is willing to help me out with either of those - whether for free or commissioned, I'm up for both.
Penumbra Crystallis is an original remake of my old Final Fantasy fan game, Blackmoon Prophecy, and I'm trying to keep the DNA of the game the same. Sure everything will be original, but I want it still "feel" the same, so it is my intention to have things feel very Final Fantasy inspired, and this includes character portraits and monsters. Ideally, I'd be looking for something near the quality of Final Fantasy IV and other early SNES RPGs.
If this is something you're interested in, I'll drop the link to the game page below so that you can see what the game visually looks like so far. If interested, the best way to contact me is via Discord at UPRC#4228. If you don't have Discord, sending mail over RMN is fine too, I'm just not likely to answer it as promptly (but will check regularly if anyone shows interest in helping me out).
Also note that since this is in MV, I'm resizing everything by 300%. You don't have to worry about this on your part and I'll give desired dimensions of portraits and such to anyone who wishes to help.

RMN's Favourite Video Game Tracks of All Time
I feel like we spend so much time, as gamers, talking about games that were the most enjoyable to play. I'm currently in the midst of listening to my favourite video game tunes on YouTube, and I felt like coming here to shine a spotlight on video game music. When you think of your favourite old-school video games, what is one of the first things you always think of? That's right, it's the music.
When you imagine Tetris, you hear Korobeiniki in your head.
When you think of Final Fantasy 6, you hear Terra's theme.
When you think of Mario, you think of the original game's overworld theme and its many incarnations.
I want to know, what themes from video games resonates with you guys the most? For fun, I'm even going to keep track! Pick, off the top of your head, your ten most memorable tracks from video games. I'll score them the same way we score games in the "favourite RPG Maker games" (1st is 10, 2nd is 9, 3rd is 8, etc. until you reach 10th with is 1).
So, have at it! I'm genuinely curious to know what you guys feel are your most favourite/memorable video game tunes of all time. I'll post mine in a separate reply just to avoid clutter.
So, in recap:
1. Pick your top ten favourite video game tunes of all time.
2. I'll score them and add them to the list.

Last Addition: Yellow Magic
[RMVX ACE] Looking for artist interested in making, well, a few dozen PC/NPC portraits.
Back when I used to work on Shattered Wings, I used Fire Emblem portraits which were always intended to be placeholders. Now that I've gone back to the game and am staring at these Fire Emblem faces, I really want to see them vanish from the game so that my characters have more unique and original personality.
So, I'm looking for anyone who might be interested in doing portraits of FORTY playable characters and roughly TWENTY non-playable characters (fully optional). I understand that this is quite a daunting number, but I'm not exactly looking for the next Leonardo da Vinci to make these portraits. Even artists who consider themselves little more than "decent" and are looking for an opportunity to practice drawing character faces are welcome. Honestly, I'd just love to hear from anyone who may be potentially interested in doing this.
Keep in mind that, if you are an artist who prefers to be paid for their services, I don't make much money and may not be able to afford your services if doing so many portraits would be considered an expensive project. I would ideally prefer to hear from those who are simply interested in doing this because they simply feel generous and/or see it as an opportunity for practice without looking to be paid for their services, but I am open to considering inexpensive rates if you're not one who draws/pixels portraits for free.
There's also no major deadline for these since the game isn't close to completion. Anyone who is interested in taking this task on wouldn't be hassled by me at all, I'm super patient and understand that this is often something that we all do in our spare time.
Anyway, feel free to reply here or send me a message on RMN, or contact me on Discord at UPRC#9922 if you're interested! I'd honestly just love to hear from anyone who may consider wanting to do this.
Avee is awesome and is interested in doing this, so don't worry about it.
RMN on plug.dj - Play and share your favourite music with RMNers!
Since we have RMNers have a knack for gathering in random corners of the internet to do our thing, I figured proposing an RMN room on plug.dj would be a neat idea.
But UPRC, what is plug.dj?
A music sharing website of sorts that lets you take turns playing music with other users. There are different rooms (called communities) where users can gather to load up their playlists (which are Soundcloud/YouTube songs and videos) and queue as DJs to share whatever they think others might enjoy!
This video quickly tells you what plug.dj is.
What can we customize?
Your playlists (obviously), all of which can hold up to 200 songs each. You can also set your badge (basically your chat avatar) and your avatar (the virtual representation of you, which DJs at the turntable when you're up and also dances when you upvote a song).
If anyone wants to try it out, I went ahead and set up an RMN room for the sake of convenience. I can totally help out anyone with any questions relating to how plug.dj works since I've used it for a little while now.
So if you guys think live sharing music of music while chatting with your fellow RMNers sounds neato: https://plug.dj/rmn

VX Ace runs slow as balls in Windows 10.
never had this problem in Windows 7 prior to my free upgrade but, ever since I moved up to Windows 10, VX Ace has run VERY slowly. Opening the maker or running test play aren't bad at all and seem to take about as long as before, but if I try to open an event? I have to wait two to three seconds for the event window to pop up. Say I want to do something like click Set Move Route. Again, about a second or two for the window to pop up. Switching tabs in the database, again, a few seconds. The actors tab seems to be the worst. For example, if I try to switch from the enemies tab to the actors tab, all I see is grey for about a seocnd before blank fields in the starting equipment area appears, and then everything else flickers onto the screen about a second later.
TLDR: Various sections of VX Ace run very slow or take a few seconds to open in Windows 10 when it was literally instantaneous on Windows 7. Anyone experience this before or know what could be up? Is Windows 10 known for being slow with VX Ace?

Editing topic titles.
So I had a brain fart and wrote the wrong word in a subject title. I apparently have no field to edit the subject when I'm editing a post, though I'm being told on Slack that I should - and kentona told me to edit my title in the post I messed up on... so I'm wondering if it's just me? Or is there some kind of glitch? I think I recall being able to personally edit my titles before, but I'm not so sure now!
Anyway, since I was still being told "you can edit it" after I said I can't, here's what I see:
Where I wrote "wind", I meant to write "wild". Am I just going crazy here? I feel like I could edit titles before. If there's an actual issue on here with editing of some kind, I hope that this post helps to shine a light on it.
(And also thanks to whichever one of you fixed the title, too!)

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
I'm a guy who hasn't "loved" Zelda since A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. That's a long time to just be kind of "meh" towards this series... but today? With Nintendo officially slapping a name on the next game in the series and finally showing it off? I'm already stoked. Really stoked.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an open world game seemingly set in the future (or something?), as Link is brought back to life, or out of some kind of stasis, in a place called the Shrine of Resurrection.
From there, we get to observe...
I could go on, but these two videos should do all the talking:
The game world seems absolutely tremendous, and the fact that it seems to be a futuristic Hyrule that is full of lifeless ruins and an absence of humanity could make for a very lonely yet immersive experience. Honestly? I feel like this could end up being a REALLY stellar game!
Remember, it will be out for both Wii U and the NX when it launches.

From there, we get to observe...
- Voice acting and branching dialogue choices.
- An expansive open world with ambient sound effects taking the center stage, no constant overworld music to be heard.
- A jump button.
- No healing from hearts. You have to eat and cook food to restore health now.
- Hunting wild animals.
- Gathering and crafting systems.
- Several weapons within the first few minutes, only one of them being a sword.
- Stealth mechanics.
- Few signs of humanity as a lone old man says that Hyrule is in a state of decay.
- Item durability.

So, they dropped the first Ghostbusters trailer.
Personally, I'm really not digging it at all. I've had a pretty open mind about the movie thus far even though I feel like they did an absolute shit job with the casting (there are much funnier actresses out there who would've fit the bill perfectly). This trailer just left me with a straight face. I recognize the parts that were supposed to be the "funny parts" of the trailer, but I feel like they felt extremely flat.
Despite the internet being extremely vocal against the movie, I was still hoping for the best. After seeing the trailer though, I just don't have any interest in the movie. If those were the scenes that they felt would generate hype for the movie in a debut trailer, then I don't feel like it's going to be worth my time. I'm a big Ghostbusters fan who REALLY wanted to like this, but I just can't. Hell, I even love Ghostbusters II despite how it generally seems to be frowned upon and deemed vastly inferior to the original movie. I think that they could've done so much more, and they could have had a much better cast of actresses (Wiig is the only one who I think will "fit" the role by the end of the movie). Ah well.
What do you guys think? How big are you guys on the Ghostbusters franchise and do you think this is shaping up to be a worthy successor to the old movies?
