The Socratic Dialogue Review

Thanks a lot for reviewing my game!
It's not one of my proudest ones, but I'm happy you find it ok.

The project was born from some sort of never remunerated commission by a small videogame hosting site, so that's why it's so different from my other games. But it was a nice change of pace from all the other fantasy games I made, at least.

The Respawn Banter Review

Understood. Thanks a lot for your time, and have a nice day!

The Respawn Banter Review

Hi Sacredlobo! First of all, thanks for playing the game!
The project is absolutely not dead, but the first version come right out of a game jam, so the entire plot, artstyle and general idea of the game wasn't decided just yet. I took a long time thinking about finding the right ideas for the game. And until I'll have the final art, at least for the characters, I thought to not give much updates: everything was a "just the last stretch before the steam page" for some months, in all honesty.
But also, I wasn't aware of the blog part. Thanks for letting me know, I should probably post at least something.

You've encountered a problem that other people had... not liking the humor.
I understand that, it's some sort of "witty repartee" with some meta jokes, so a pretty unusual style.

Can I ask you a big question? I didn't had the occasion to talk to someone who didn't like the game, so I lack confrontation:
You said the game bored you, but was it more cringe rather than boredom? Because gags aside I tried to make every line of dialogue unique, to make the conversation feel new every few lines (that's why I made 3 lines for dialogues instead of the default 4, to not make the reader feel overwhelmed with text). Without the gags who fell flat for you, would it have been any different? Or was it the writing that was boring?
May it be that your expectations changed since the game claimed to be a "comedy game"? I noticed people tend to make some different assumptions before playing the game. (One reviewer started with a "I don't like it" attitude before even playing it, for example)

I don't have plans on changing the direction, but at least I am working on reducing the least funny and obvious gags.
I know that many people won't like this humor, but I'm hoping I'll find other people who'll like it.
This will be my first commercial project. I love it, and I'm willing to go into loss for not selling many copies if that will be the case.

Thanks a lot again!

I'll InvaliGate Your Aid Review

Thanks a lot for playing the game! I wanted to make this game to explore the person behind the "exploding gifts" mentioned in the game: I have a soft spot for reoccurring characters.
...but the game concept came first: I added the characters later, since they fit well in it.

The original game made in 7 days was just RTP (except portraits and title screen), but made the art without much experience to give the game a more unique feel.

May I ask what were the parts that you hated? To see if it's possible to make them just slightly less annoying. I was also thinking on adding another checkpoint in the final fight.
In the first version, the "mouse cursor" minigame was way harder, with faster mouse and more buttons. Luckily I heavily nerfed it, also because on some low-end PCs the cursor-moving script gets delayed (it's an async function), causing a lot of confusion.

That's my Exploit Keeper!

Hi, Terminusest13 played your game on their Twitch the other day. Needless to say, I think they enjoyed it.

Who made the boss art, if I may ask?

Oh nice! I follow them, but I didn't know about it, thanks!

The boss arts are edits of the shadow monster from MV RTPs and "deus machina" from a DLC for VX Ace

Okay, I have found the secret, but I do not know how to avoid having it taken away. I assume I have to
jump over the event trigger
, but have found no way to do so.

It's a little tricky.
That event trigger starts when you stop on it, though...

Jingle Gates Review

Does it matter that this is not a Christmas game? This is more accurately a Christmas-ambiented game. (Yay clickbait!)
I made the game for the sake of it, I really didn't care much of respecting the theme of the contest.

Yes, the task is pointless. Yes, the characters are dumb. Yes, the game is dumb.

I used only RTP because I didn't want to invest much time in the game to continue the main one, so I skipped searching for a original tileset to get it done under 24 (non-consecutive) hours. But if I were to make it today, I would definitely use one for free from Itch.io.

As for the comedic pacing, you're right. But the main focus of the game are the puzzle, so I feel like the humor is mostly secondary.

Thanks for playing and for making a video of it!

Thanks! I'm happy you appreciated the game! :D
I'm sorry for the English, I'm still improving, and this game was translated around one year ago. After this game, I'm trying to have a more accurate translation double checking with external tools or other people!

You can find the music sources in "Credits.txt" in the game folder.

Howdy!
So, I completed the Demo a week ago, and really liked it!
I've had a similar idea to this before, but never put it into practice.
I liked the art, and the dialogue is well written and edited.
It's one of the few games that made me genuinely laugh.
I would say that, while funny, the puzzle section could have been shortened.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your feedback! ^_^
For the puzzle section, I understand it might be a little longer than needed. I'll see if I can shorten it, or make the dialogues more catchy. Still, something to keep in mind while reviewing the script! :D

And I'm curious: what was your similar idea?

Is your name taken from "Waldorf School"?
Btw.: Your YT-channel is dead ... :-O

Yeah, It was my nickname since secondary school.
Youtube works weirdly on this forum profiles: It's https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7Xs_Ah0XIHmGj2UXsaHmfw
But the forum uses /user/ instead of /channel/. Tanks for telling me! :D
