On that note, going to add the second area here, since these are the only 2 that are going to be touched. Yes, it's 65x125, but it's meant to be that way dammit! Two separate exits to come from, a few paths here and there, and a hidden path to an island that has a MP +10% accessory. I think it looks nice personally (don't mind the Es everywhere. Again, more Event mapping. No video this time around though!)

Because that's how this area is. And this is how I already decided on doing this area (yes, I planned for things to actually turn out this way).

First post updated with information about the area in canon. Forgot to add that (it's in the Hidden section, at the bottom). Still need to redo this one, though still haven't thought of how since I'm doing Higan first.

Yup, took the entire day today just to update this stupid area. I think it looks a lot better, though making it like it looks in canon is kinda hard. All I had to go with really was the Perfect Memento in Strict Sense image!

Again, let me know if you guys want to see more videos like this for updated areas, or hell, let me know if you guys even want to have me do a commentary LP on the entire game as it is...like a Developer's Edition or something.

If you spot anything that I missed fixing, do let me know. I already fixed some things from the first video I did (yes, I redid this video because there was a lot wrong), so I know there's others that I missed. Tends to happen when there's a crapload of event mapping going on!

My main concern is if this map is of suitable size, considering there's supposed to be 2 exits to the same map, just different points of entry and whatnot, and the fact that this map and the next are the only ones with random encounters. I also am not certain just how foresty the place is (nor whether or not the trees I'm using would be suitable for matching up with the image. I'm assuming they're fine enough though...). I know 200 anything is big, but again...only 2 screens worth of fighting and that's it to the dungeon itself pretty much so...

I might need to use a different tileset maybe? Or add more to this one so it has a few more things. There's really not a whole lot to add to the place itself from what I've seen in canon...

I have destroyed a couple maps before and rebuilt them from the ground up, and Winter Forest took a full day of work to actually finish up essentially. Just the above concern is all that I'm wondering for this map at the moment.

Also, update the first post because I was dumb and didn't link the image correctly. ^^;

EDIT - On a sidenote, I tried to make the river there at the top be the Sanzu River (on the world map, you enter this area right across the river on a bridge so...thought this'd be fitting).

For those curious, here's the canon information about this area, which I didn't have back when I made this area the first time because never read through all of this back then.

"The Road of Reconsideration (再思の道 Saishi no michi) is a road where the higanbana blooms (especially in the autumn season), connecting the Forest of Magic and Muenzuka. Avoided by the humans of Gensokyo due to its distant location, the Gensokyo border is somewhat blurred here. People from the outside world contemplating suicide often ends up drifting across this road, which is why it has become a popular hunting grounds among the youkai. However, while walking through the flower fields, the wanderers may suddenly come to reconsider their decisions and turn back with a renewed will to live (unless a youkai finds them first). It's secret lies within the higanbana's discomforting toxins that alerts a person's mental survival instincts."

Good thing the story says that areas got relocated due to Pandora's Box, or I'd have to redo the entire world map just to make sure things were set right! ^^;;

Anywho, yes, this is another one of those really long maps. The entire area, despite being named Road of Reconsideration, is actually just Higan/Muenzuka in practice. It's actually NOT very big in terms of how many maps there are (there's only 6 maps, one of which is a pitstop for shops, one of which is a safe area, one which is the crossing point from Muenzuka to Higan proper, and the other which is Higan proper and is meant to be one giant flower field with nothing in it). So really, there's only 2 maps total for the entire dungeon that has encounters. This is by far the biggest of the two maps (the next screen is 65x125). So that's kinda why the areas are somewhat big.

Update to Yojana Garden:

Which now uses this tileset:

Much smaller and more pretty to look at. Though still feels like stuff is missing. Maybe needs more flowers in places, but I'm no gardener so maybe the arrangements I have is terrible. @_@;;

Mmkay. I'll do that here later on when I get the chance. It'll be something to spice up the game's public page too since the three screenshots I have there currently are kinda not that great. ^^;

124x120_Winter_Forest_New.png

The problem though is if I upload the new screenshot, it'd look downright terrible because of all of the Es floating everywhere in the map (which is how some of the stuff was done in the first place). The caves did get fixed up too:

200x30_200_Yojana_Gardens_Old.png

I tried to take the term "Yojana" a bit seriously maybe? ^^;;

"A Yojana (Sanskrit : योजन ) is a Vedic measure of distance used in ancient India. The exact measurement is disputed amongst scholars with distances being given between 6 to 15 kilometers (4 to 9 miles)."

Though that's not what it was meant to reference as it was meant to reference Youmu's "200 in 1 Yojana Slash" move. I think I overdid it though so...thought it was time to cut it down. As you can tell, the original map was...kinda lackluster anyways. ^^;

For reference, my world map is only 150x150, if around there. Yeah, it's not very big at all, but...it fits.
