cutscenes

for some reason if i know my game has a big cutscene coming up i find myself in a horrible procrastinating mood and find it very easy to be distracted from the project for a long time

it always seems to be when the next thing I have to do is script a big cutscene that I fall in to the cycle of always finding something to distract me and put the game on hold

so how do you guys feel when it comes time to put togather a cutscene, do you find it as daunting as I seem to or do you find it to be something that makes you excited to keep on working

are there any other parts of the game that you found to consistently be a roadblock to working when it comes time to do it?

i didn't know where else to put this

yeah i'm back

i was gone for the entire summer on a vacation to new england where i was away from my computer which is why i was gone (also for a little while after i got back home i was a bit too embarassed to log on after not doing a single thing for my game for so long)

i'm back on the site now and i'm ready to try and start working on my game again, it wil be a bit slow though, i'm disappointed with how little free time i suddenly have now

anyway hi

strange error with blog entries

I tried to make a new blog entry and I got some sort of "attribution error" or whatever with alot of computer script type language. so I kept trying to submit and now I have a bunch of entries that say the same thing and lead to the error page whenever you try to read them, and when I try to delete the extra entries I get the same message and they don't go away (this is for the Allinlia game)

I've pasted the contents of the blog entry in my main description but this is still a gigantic mess

could an admin sort this out? (I'd like to get rid of the error and to have all the clone entries deleted)

thanks in advance, I am really confused over this

The World Tower [DEMO] [VX]

I think its about time I posted a topic for this thing, as I'd really like some feedback on it now that my newest demo version is out (version 1.6) I also expect this to be the last demo version I release before the final game.

The World Tower is a gigantic tower which contains everything that the people who live in it will ever need. It is an entirely self sufficent community, in fact, no one who lives in the tower has ever been outside of it. Life in the tower is heavily regulated under the authority of Lord Bass. Conformity and obedience to the regulations is considered vital. There is very little room for personal choice though don't suffer and seem to be fairly happy. Many are pleased with the unity and safety the society provides and there is a general feeling that individual desires should be sacrificed for the good of the whole. When children reach a certain age they are forced to leave thier parents for the children's floor to be "educated." They are not permitted to leave thier specific section of the floor and the children's floor is off limits to the rest of the tower. One child, Jayson Fratello, became fed up with being seperated from his family and he somehow busted out. He makes his way back to his home and is reunited with his mother. The two then set out to reunite thier family even while thier own society aims to keep them apart, and while they are excercising thier own small, private, rebellion, a much larger, more serious, and perhaps even dangerous rebellion looms in the shadows...

-no random battles
-learn additional spells by finding carefully hidden spellbooks and returning them to thier owner (not in the demo, will be available later)
-all areas directly connected (no world map)
-uses Etoiler's monsters and face sets
-NPCs move to completely different areas depending on the player's progression (this happens once in the demo, but will keep happening in each new "chapter")
-earn additional money by doing favors for NPCs
-uses scripts allowing party members to follow you and faces to appear in battle
-No RTP default music

these screens are of the NEW intro dungeon, the original one was a royal pain so I completely fixed it in looks, layout, and battles (basically I tried to make this section less boring, tedious, and difficult)

If you played an earlier version of this game then I really want to know what you think of the change, I'm hoping the new layout allows for quicker and easier back tracking (even though I gave you more money to start out with and I tweaked the monsters in such a way so you'll only have to backtrack once unless you get unlucky, and if you're smart with your healing items, you'll probably not die. My method is to use one whenever my HP gets to 4)

I couldn't resist

anyone else had fun with the name your charecter feature? (in any RM game)

hello again

how many months has it been since I last posted? I lost count

I know I've been incredibly MIA lately, I'd like to say its cause I've been working hard on my game but I'd be lying to ya

story was I got sort of intimidated by everything I wanted to fix and an upcoming area of my game that I knew would require alot of work so I sorta shelved it

I'm finally starting to get my motivation back though and will see about getting my activity back up (ironically I decide to do this right before a 3 month long vacation beginning in June, my god am I messed up)

so anyways, what's new?

Bugs

Ok, so you release a demo of your game (or god forbid the complete version) only to find out too late that there is a game ending bug, forcing you to try to quickly release a new version correcting this problem before people actually download it only to find out that there is yet another game ending bug later on and blah blah blah next time I'm getting beta testers

basically this is happening to me, I have been forced to release 3 new versions in 2 days due to game ending bugs and am wondering if anyone has had worse luck in the game ending bug department then me

the good news is I really think 1.4 is bug free, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that it is and I won't have to re upload for a good long while

so...anyone out there that can beat 3 new versions in 2 days? or do I have to take the crown for buggiest game designer?

introduction topic

figured I should post this

I guess my other interests besides my RPG would be sports (hard to find other people who know anything about sports turns out) and I am also a huge Seinfeld fan. I have all the DVDs and I watch them all the time. I also like to draw comics

other shows I really like are Home Movies and the Case Closed anime (if you've ever heard of either of those)

anyway hopefully I will stay active/have fun here
