Lufia V: For the Savior

I've been having a blast playing this game all wknd. It is very reminiscent of Lufia 1 & 2. I truly enjoy the mix of music from 1 & 2. The battle system is done surprising well, considering the limitations of 2k3. The plot, setting, and characters are so well done, that it seems like I'm really playing a professional sequel to the SNES Lufia games. Job well done, DTG.

I'm currently in the Labyrinth dungeon and I can't get to the key. I pushed the block into the teleporter and got to the other side, solved all the puzzles past there and got to the locked door. However, I can't get to the treasure chest next to the "running" goblin. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Forever's End Review

Glad to hear you're doing well NicoB! I'm just happy that you are still working on Forever's End. Honestly, I was starting to think it was gonna be vaporware.

Glad to see you still working on this! Bureaucrat1 has no idea what that guy has been through.

Phantom Legacy is complete

What a pleasant surprise! I can't wait til I get this one cranked up.

CBS version incoming

Those skill descriptions have me cracking up!

I like the fact that you guys are using a CBS system, as it'll make the game that much more unique. I really wish I had the time to be a tester, but my job has been killing me lately.

A question...

Grahf, from Xenogears. May as well throw in Ramsus and Id too.

1. Yes, Inindo is the SNES Ninja RPG. It was actually ahead of it's time in several of it's gameplay mechanisms.

2. Breath of Fire I and II were good, but III happens to be my favorite of the series. IV was also good and while V was difficult, it was average at best.

3. It's hard to believe you're only in HS, yet your coding abilities seem to be top notch. I must be getting old...

4. I've played Shining Force II and it was rather difficult early, but once I got the hang of it I had no problems.

5. Yes, I defeated both Emerald and Ruby Weapon on FFVII. They were pretty tough, but there are some HAX setups with the Materia System that makes them relatively tame. I got a better challenge from Omega Weapon on FFVIII.

6. Destiny of an Emperor is an RPG on the NES that occurs in ancient China. It's based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel and was one of the precursors to the Dynasty Warriors series. Battles can be tough, particularly late in the game, and they require more strategy than brute force. I believe that you would enjoy the challenge. I also recommend Rudra no Hihou and Live A Live (both on SNES) for some interesting, but difficult RPGs.

Did you get some of those pallets from Live A Live and Inindo or are they custom? Either way, they are very fitting. I can't wait to figure out how these characters tie in with the story.

My plan is to make you level grind to take on bosses at some points. I know that people will grind, so I plan on making bosses medium to hard. I love difficulty because games are too easy these days. Here are some of the games that inspired my love for difficulty

1) Mega Man X and Zero Series
2) Final Fantasy III-VI, Crisis Core, and XII
3) Final Fantasy VII (Ruby and Emerald Weapons, Safer Sephiroth)
4) Lufia and the Fortress of Doom
5) Crono Trigger
6) Dragon Quest Series
there are many more, but I have always loved being challenged instead of having a cakewalk.

Lufia II did have some pretty frustrating puzzles. I love Zelda puzzles, but hardly any of them have made me think as much as I had to Lufia II. There were even times I would quit or go online to get a walkthrough because of some of them. Here are some examples...

1)Sword Shrine Puzzle :Red and Yellow Blocks
2)Elfrea Mountain: Flower Puzzle

The infamous Sword Shrine Puzzle. I first played Lufia II when I was 13, (before the days of easy internet access) and I got stuck at that puzzle. I gave up on the game and didn't play it again until after I graduated high school. Then I finally figured it out (without a FAQ) and was very relieved. I did well on the Elfea Mountain quiz, though it truly was difficult.

As far as your list of difficult RPGs, I'd say I initially had trouble with 1, 4, and 6, but I easily conquered the rest. Here are some more examples, if you haven't played them;

Phantasy Star 1-4
The 7th Saga
Inindo
Destiny of an Emperor
Breath of Fire 2-5
Xenogears
