What are your views on the live-action movies, including the one coming out in 2017?

What opinion are you looking for? I like the movies for the most part. I have my complaints but like them much more than dislike. I think most of the detractors are...well, I won't say what they are because I'm trying to be nicer in my middle age. Regardless, what would you call an obnoxiously loud group of people who go on an absolute crusade to destroy the films because they violate the purity of a corporate advertisement? The same corporate advertisement that gave us Rodimus Prime and Zombie Optimus Prime?

Any opinion, really. My friends spoke about it during our meeting before Winter vacation, and their views were somewhat polarized. XP

They mostly didn't like Michael Bay's directing, and weren't fond of the deviation from previous continuities. The one thing I do agree with were the strange differences between these movies and the G1 continuity (along with the others, of course). It did feel somewhat odd to me too.

You were still probably better about these things than I am.

I unfortunately tend to upset people even when I try not to. XP

Nostalgia addicts for the most part. :P

I don't consider myself or my friends that, but sometimes there is a point. There's also another fault in the form of the fixation on human characters (unfortunately, Transformers media before these movies share this flaw too).

Before he was replaced, Shia Labeouf had a useless character who took up too much attention, the kind of attention that the Transformers (even the antagonists) needed and were more deserving of.

The character "Sam" should have been merely a supporting character, but he instead acted as a key figure required for the Autobots' success...and by that, I mean a guy who just moves stuff or does easy tasks anyone else could do. This happened more than once, sadly.

Later on, he was replaced by Mark Wahlberg's character "Cade" who was not only useful in comparison, but utterly awesome. He even fought Lockdown, and more than likely would have kicked his ass without help.

That alone is evidence that the makers of the films are learning from their experiences.

I can agree with most (okay, ALL) of that.

It does seem like Mark Wahlberg always ends up playing these epic characters that take down enemies who look borderline omnipotent, or at least compared to what most people on his tier could take on.

Hopefully the writers continue to make him this ass-kicker who makes the Decepticons look like utter wimps, because that's a very good example of how to make the "main" human characters useful and prevent the audience from getting bored/restless with most of the movie.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

There's only one Transformers movie and then there are several things we don't talk about that came after it.

I was definitely into Transformers, and their cheap counterpart, the Gobots, when I was a kid. However, I probably lost track interest of them at about the Beast Wars era?

*Edit: Man, I was into a lot of stuff when I was a kid. Transformers, Gobots, LEGOs, Voltron (the five-lion one, thank you very much), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G. I. Joe, MASK...

I thought the Beast era shows had some pretty good story telling and voice acting. :P
