Chronicles: The Lost Page Review

you're welcome :)
yeah, i think i remembered the skull cavern and the frozen crypt rather than the final dungeon in meteo chronicles. a 100 floor dungeon might be alright but you have to make it interesting enough to explore. as for mystery dungeon, i believe each fight (and floor) can be finished quickly so it wasn't that much of an issue to have a lot of floors, but that wasn't the case in meteo chronicles. glad to see that you are going to revamp it later in the future, though.

to be honest, i'm not an expert at speaking those old-timey english either. but iirc, you just need to replace thou with you, should with shall, etc, although i don't remember all of the vocabs and the rules. the shakespeare translator makes it sounds like he's talking in pirates, though. out of curiosity, i asked chatgpt to translate it and it sounds to be better than that shakespeare talks:
"In the days of yore, she did lock herself away to bolster her mystical might, and she shall rouse from her dormant state once more, when all four progenies she begot stir from their life essence."

well, in that case, then maybe you should make it so that the character won't rely too much on mp-based skill or introduce another way to recover a little bit of mp (example: having defense to restore a little bit of mp so you have enough for random encounters. you obviously won't use it on bosses since it's counterproductive (you take more than you heal), but at least it's useful for traveling to long places since your other party members can pick up the slack)

Luke Daimont: Absolute Mayhem Review

hello!
i think i played the game with always dash on. i always look for that feature the first time whenever i played rpg maker games.

actually, i read the signpost, but i was still confused. i think you need to make the first few jumps more like tutorial so that players can learn by doing.

ah, i see. i didn't notice the importance of the score except for respawning (and probably buying items), and you'll have more points than you need for respawning purposes so i don't really notice it.

well, 30 hits for the clown boss seems too much, even if the boss' hp doesn't reset. you can only do 1-2 hits after they are doing their attack after all. also, yeah, the explosions wasn't that clear enough. i don't think i jumped at all - i either run to the safe direction or just "tank" the damage.

also, you're welcome! thanks for making the game too.

Meteo Chronicles (Demo) Review

Whoa, i didn't know about the money trick. I was forced to play a party with all brawlers since i'm too lazy to grind. I wish i knew that when i played the game. I wanted to try different combinations rather than using the same classes. Also, I can't remember about battles but i think i used skills sometimes.

I'm completely agree with your review - the game has a lot of bugs. I'm glad that i didn't continue my playthrough after the last softlock. I thought i'm gonna lost it if i got another after experiencing it three times.

Port Traventor Review

hello, i just realized that the game is now paid, so i won't be able to replay it. i feel that i should let you know since i said that i was going to replay the game - i don't want to leave you waiting for it.

Port Traventor Review

Sure, i can do that. It might take a while though since i have to play other games first.

Memoriam Review

No worries, thanks for making the game too! I didnt notice that the sprites look similar until you mention it. It's good enough for a first game tbh, so i'm glad to see that you are still striving to improve. Good luck eith your future projects!

Amarok's Howl Review

yeah, i also think that leaving the map is enough since that's the strategy that works for the first time so i didn't bother to try other strategy. besides, i don't want to risk running away to places that i haven't discovered yet in case i run to other wolves (and run out of stamina as a result).

by vision cones i actually mean the visible one, hahah. i didn't know that they have vision cones though.

don't worry, i enjoyed the game, especially on the last part. your idea for showing the keelut when the health is low in the sequel is also a nice idea.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review this, aquatorrent! I appreciate it.

Over the past few days, I've addressed a few of the issues you mentioned (typos, bugs). I've added a left hand keyboard setup (using WASD to move) and a right hand setup (arrow) keys. I will add some documentation in the game folder, as this would be all be very cumbersome to show in the game itself. You should be able to do most everything in the game without the mouse. Unfortunately the alter system will always be mouse reliant, due to how I set it up.

Items will definitely be required to beat that boss you mention (at least on hard mode), and they are a core part of Kara's strength in combat. However, you'll eventually be able to take her out of your party if you're not an item fan.

I also did tone down the boss you mentioned on normal, if your version had him use an attack and then immediately follow up with another (3 hit attack) that was an error and unintended for normal mode. Apologies.

I'm working hard to make the next part a 4 or a 5! Take care.
nice! Yeah, i wasn't a fan of kara. I didn't know how her alchemy skill works and i didn't like to use potions. Tbe only reason i used her is for the combo attacks and her combo element doesn't match the other two... i guess i'll just switch her when a new party member joins later.

I think i got hit by that three hit attack once after i got the expose darkness. Some of my retries were also caused by my impatience (was hoping i could take out the boss before they die). I didnt know at that time that dead party members will get full xp so i keep on resetting, but i would just leave them next time if it happens again.

Thank you so much for reviewing this game for me for the Secret Santa Extra Return Gifts!!

Sorry for the late gift. It ends up as new year gift rather than christmas gift, hahah.

Amarok's Howl Review

I think it's almost impossible to last until the next phase without triggering other wolves, which is might be the reason why i didn't know that there is a second phase. I agree that it might be caused by the text dump in the tutorial though.

The stealth mechanic was good, but i'm more used to the ones with vision cones rather than sounds. It might give more addition to the enemy patterns too. I can't remember much about the dog (and the game in general since it's been a while since i played it), but if it is the one that suddenly appears when you step on it, it could be added better. Maybe make them roam around like the wolves somehow. I like the variety though.

That sounds nice. Thanks for making the game as well. Wish you a good luck in making the sequel!

Meteo Chronicles (Demo) Review

no problem! glad to see that you are working on a fix. as for your comments:

I'm an absolutely terrible speller, and since I write the script and dialogue on the fly I tend to make a lot of mistakes
everyone makes mistakes, don't worry. in that case, i suggest you to use a spell checker like grammarly. i'm not sure how to implement it directly as you write the script, but you can always copy and paste the text from there to minimize spelling errors.

First of all, not every character is horny. Only Koros, Jeht, and to a lesser extent Zenith is. Stacy is completely pure and innocent (she doesn't know what sex is despite being 17) and Tayo is typical in terms of hornyness. That's only 2 or 3/5ths of the main cast.
sorry if it's not clear enough, but my main point here is to make every character different. having at least one party member gets riled in every conversation doesn't make it an easy read either.

And about the lore inconsistences,
in that case, imo, it's better to include thiefmaster later, in the same game when you reveal this information. since there is no one that knows about this except you, it just makes the lore to be inconsistent, especially combined with that persona joke. if you really want to add it, you can try sticking with one "other worldly" element for now. they might look a bit off, but it won't be as bad as having everything included into one game like this.

Also, Koros never kills anyone close to him?
well, he killed his uncle. i didn't remember any stabbing part tbh, i might forget about it.
iirc, he can become dragon because kairos possessed him, so he technically lost control because of him, right?

And the characters do have a reason for doing what they're doing.
my point about this is how the character just conveniently tags along. for example:
"hey i want to slay this guy"
"oh what a coincidence i want to slay this guy too because he has done this and that"
and then he blurted a lot of fact out of nowhere about his reason for joining your party. maybe chunk it into several cutscenes or something. this is more of a writing issue tbh.

Jeht joins because he has a crush on Tayo and wants payback for the Ebony Order falsely imprisoning him and his family after his father discovered Trello's plans.
jeht's business should have been done after he's out of prison (and town), but he still tags along with no reason except for tayo, which is kinda weak imo.

And about them being bloodthirsty, I don't really see that?
i was referring to the lewd scenes actually.

Sorry if I sounded angry back there. I'm really not. I really appreciate the review, no matter how critical the review is.
no problem. as i said before, i'm glad that you fix the issues. i don't mind with questions, so don't worry about it.
