Having a weapon deal damage based on Spirit stat?
How would I go about doing this?
Seeing all those fractured pieces of code they give aren't helping!
If someone would please make me just a basic coding for a staff that deals fire damage based on the Spirit stat,(not Strength), I will monkey with it and start to figure it out.

I am Beakmanthegreat. But I'm not that great at making RPG's yet...
I will mostly be on the forums to ask for help.
If you see me, you may just want to ask me what I need help with; I guarantee you that I will need it 80% of the time I'm here. :P
Anyway, I've had an interest in RPG's since I was about 7. I beat Legend of Dragoon, and had a copy of Valkyrie Profile. (which I traded in to Gamestop because Freya kept killing me halfway through the game)
I later figured out two things.
The first was that I needed to transfer my characters to Asgard (or wherever it was) to avoid that game over.
The next was that the game now sells for over 200$ sometimes. Oops. >.<
anyway, my brother and I were bouncing ideas for RPG battle mechanics while Playing Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, and I thought, "you know what? It's high time I tried out that RPG Maker thing I saw a few months back."
So today, I, Beakmanthegreat, and my brother, who, should he need to speak, will be addressed as Sirchichi, are attempting to make a 10+ hour long RPG.
Our original idea would be too complex, but I have concepted the beginning of a separate story which I hope will be entertaining. It's slighly cliche, but I think its also slightly original.
Or maybe its double cliched right from the beginning. Maybe.
But I'm rambling, so I'm going to finish my introduction then get back to programming. :P

Game= Generic Cliched RPG (Working Title)

Noob question please help. "how do I place a character sprite on the map in RPGMakerVX?
Hello. This is a crowning achievement for me. I have finally decided to make an RPG using this software. I may buy it, If I cannot finish my projected Idea in 30 days, that is. Now, as this is my first time scripting anything besides an HTML website, I have a few questions.
First, how do I place a character sprite on the map in RPG Maker VX?
Then, is there a way to have a skill work immediately when a battle begins?
This one I MAY have figured out, but it leads to my third question which is;
Can I make the chance that an attack will inflict a status change with each attack?
For instance, can I make a weak attack that will almost always stun, and then make a strong attack that has a lower chance of stun?
Or do I have to make a new status for the new attack?
Any help is much appreciated!
