BICFARMER'S PROFILE

Veteran student who has the knowl that is needed to answer questions and stuff like that.

I'm making a game too, but since I am not an artist, musician, programmer, or writer, it's going extremely slowly. You can find it over there->

I also joined in a handful of RMN's events, here's some of the games I got:

Personal notes:
- DO NOT use nested loops in RPGMaker
- DO NOT use centered origin show picture, it cannot be removed unless it goes back to topleft corner origin
- F9 for debug menu
- My biggest trip up is mapping. I really have no idea whatsoever when it comes to making maps. Which means I need to get a good map idea before I can make something even remotely playable.

This is my ultimate first game. It looks just like any noob's first RTP game. No RTP needed. About 1-2 hrs..

[RMVX ACE] show text preceding a choice

despite this, I admit I am surprised by what rmvxa CAN do. It's not as flexible as game maker, but for RPG's it can do quite alot and doesnt need setting up the basic rpg mechanics. Pretty cool.

[RMVX ACE] show text preceding a choice

Yep, it will require duplicating the choice block, as I assumed. I have previously used this in a shop event but it will be extremely inconvenient to use this for the area i'm at, involving a 100 line choice block which cannot be duplicated...

These are very helpful nonetheless, but I honestly didnt expect rmvxa to not have this functionality.. but in the end I suppose we'll have to do without it (unless theres another way)

Thanks very much guys!

(wait I'm analyzing the second method..)

Oh no, that requires duplicating the choice block too...

Put the choice in the conditional branch with the text?

I'm very impressed with these fast replies, thank for trying to help so far! Any ideas are welcome

Put the choice in the conditional branch with the text?

That would require duplicating the choice block, and doing that would be extremely inconvenient.

Put the label before the text?

I need to have the text be different based on some condition. Having the text immediately preceding the choice block will make it unable to be modified by the condition.

[RMVX ACE] show text preceding a choice

so, any other way to make condition-based text and choice appear together?

[RMVX ACE] show text preceding a choice

no solution?

[RMVX ACE] show text preceding a choice

Hey all, first of (likely to be) many help requests. Much help appreciated!

I have a 'show text' that is immediately followed by a 'show choices' but if I put anything in between (like a label) then when i get to this part in-game the text no longer appears together with the choice. Same thing occurs if the 'show text' is in a condition block preceding the 'show choices'.

Is there any way to make the text and choice appear together? I have some areas where different text appears before a choice based on some condition and I would still like the text and the choice to appear together.

(by 'appear together' i mean that they appear at the same time. Anytime the 'show text' is NOT immediately followed by 'show choices', the text will disappear when the choice shows up.)

Prelude

Very interesting game but I couldnt keep going, so sorry.

In section 3 at some point the bed in the abandoned house could increase the dream level two times, allowing something else to be skipped.

Got stuck in section 4, and used the nut. Still could not get thru and here's why:
You'd have no idea how to get thru this if you dont use the nut. The making the nut a consumable is pointless because you can just load the game and keep it. Even using the nut I can't get thru this section because after a short while the game will crash with no error message. And this will happen consistently next time as well.

I dunno what causes it to crash but it is extremely annoying to me added on top of this puzzle that is way complicated than necessary. And ironically section 4 is the smallest area compared to the other sections so far. But the crashing is just the last straw.

EDIT: Restarted and managed to play to the end. I'd say this is definitely different from anything I've played before. Very interesting game, but that section 4 was a total waste of time (in my opinion). Totally recommend this game.

SMB1-2-3

sounds and looks like its a port of SMB1-2-3 to the SMBX engine...
Tell me if I'm wrong

EDIT: Its not. It's an attempt to remake the official SMB games on SMBX. Sort of. All the levels seem to have 2 stars but for some reason u cant get the bonus stars even if they do spawn and u touch them. The map is kinda broke, as soon as you beat SMB1 you can take warp pipes and end up in various areas of SMB3 and skip the SMB2 area. Also, any warp pipes you take inside a level dont really skip u ahead in the map, it just counts as beating the level you started in so you will later have to do the level again. (e.g. If I took the warp pipe in 1-2 to world 4 and beat it, it counts as beating world 1 on the map and u have to do world 2 next.) ALSO I should mention that I quit the game at some point because I got stuck in a level without any way of escape or dying. Play this is you want to see someone (try to) remake the SMB games but the level design isnt as failproof.

Phalath

ridiculously hard. Or maybe I'm too suck. No way I could mash buttons faster than the computer. Instead of flinching when hit, enemies shrug it off and immediately retaliate if they were facing you (without being next to you). I guess this teaches me that chracters' hitboxes occupy their destination square before the sprite actually walks into that square. Ended up in a cave where some imp oneshotted me. RIP

EDIT: Managed to beat it by corner camping enemies. I'd say it's mandatory to know to do this if you want to beat the game. Even then, sometimes my hits dont register so I'm pretty sure rpgmaker is not good at making hack n slash type games. But this game is alright.
