Look at the mappng shop post for some good tea!

I'm not reaching a conclusion, since it was taken to PM, but yes I can say it's not looking good. If it turns out to be theft like it looks, I'd recommend removing the advertisement in the first post from that guy. Pretty awful to sell other people work.

I've seen a lot of that around the RPG Maker communities lately, I hope all fraud and theft can just stop.

(Also, on a funny note, took me forever to find the thread. I used google to try and find it quickly.)

The Truth Revealed!

I'm pretty positive this is true for many of the people who start using RPG Maker for the first time, myself included!

Just a quick example, My first project was on VX called Save The Princess. While it had some humour in it, the mapping was just too... really bad. I can't remember it much, but it was dreadful. Monster encounter rate was too high, with the same slime monster over and over again. At least each dungeon had a different monster, but only one enemy/troop per dungeon. I was not using enough tiles when mapping either!

Yet I realize somehow it was so bad, both the mapping and the gameplay, and I never released it over the internet.

So there you go, and I'm sure there a lot of people who's first games were not so good, too.

I'm not saying everyone first game is always going to be bad, but it's usually us experiencing with RPG Maker for the first time, so you have to learn certain things first.

But it's good you can always learn from it, for your future projects!

I'm in love with RPGMaker MV's sprite generator. I want to make a traditional RPG just to use it. <3

Yes, I'd agree and I quite like playing with it too, calunio! It's a huge improvement from the RPG Maker VX Ace one, that is in my own opinion of course.

Hope everyone at RMN can have a great Christmas! Have fun, happy gaming and happy everything else in your lives!

You too! :D

Thanks!

Yet yesterday, simple somewhat creative ideas came to me, many at once. I liked most of them & there easy to use. Funny how that worked out.

That's good! Simple is often better!
I agree with you actually. Not quite always but definitely often is. I hope I can get these type of simple yet creative ideas more often.
Yeah, you never want to over complicate something just for the sake of it. If you are familiar with the original Predator movie, it's a very simple and effective movie. Compare it to the new one which is a over complicated piece of crap trying to be "new" and "different"
You have a lot more creative space with simpler ideas than trying to go full force into something with five or six stories going on.

Obviously, simple isn't always better. But it's good to know the distinction in game development. :)

Can't comment on the example, but exactly. Though I don't mind complications or muti-stories either, as long as they can be broken down into little parts and the way we read/play/watch them isn't way too confusing.

2 days ago was browsing TVTropes for story ideas. Instead of helping, felt confused. For me, it's difficult to implement ideas this way.

Some of what is said can be entertaining, but to actual brain storm ideas? I'm unsure.

They do have a couple of pages where they've quote and talk a little about what some authors have said about plots, which interested me. I also found a few pages on RPG classes which can be a good starting point if you know nothing about them, but you'd have to expand it further by yourself. Those pages I found a little interesting and a bit helpful.

You started a spam # status war thesacredlobo.

This Chrono Trigger "Sequel" trailer looks better than any pixel game Square has made in the past ten years.

Um, I actually think the pixel art in that trailer was mostly really neat and visually appealing, the background and detail was beautifully done. It was just that portal near the end that looked bad to me.

Man, when I think about how many of my games, finished and otherwise, would have been literally impossible to make without Yanfly's scripts...damn. I really oughta throw the guy some Benjamins.

Yeah, I'm guessing most demo and finished VX/VX Ace/MV games credits script section starts with Yanfly.
