The Lonely League is the game of the year

author=CashmereCat
Congrats on getting Game of the Year! I didn't play many RPG Maker games this year, but of those I played, this was a clear, clear winner in my books. Definitely one of my favourite RPG Maker games I've ever played. (Spoiler Alert: Most of my other favourite RPG Maker games are also made by Calunio.)

You helped a lot getting it done and getting post release attention, so thank you so much!

The game unquestionably won a sizable array of Misaos in 2023.

It makes me very happy, but 2011 calunio would have been even prouder.

Changed my mind

Featured game!

Those stats Marrend posted are really good to know!

I understand the site is getting less interaction because it has been scattered to other places, mostly Discord. I've talked A LOT about this game during development, and the RMN crowd was super helpful and supportive. But as someone who's been on this site for centuries, I miss when gamepages were more active mostly because it creates a sense of record, of history. You could learn about a game's development history through the interactions on the gamepage. Today, not so much. I know things will not go back to the way they were, but they can be a bit better than they are now if we just post more. So thank you guys for posting :D

Ascension Devlog - 1 - "Oops I lied"

I understand the battle system change choice, and it seems wise. Action battle systems are very tough to make, and RM2K3 limitations definitely don't help. Making a good one is hard in any engine.

In any case, this game is looking super awesome! Very tasteful and charismatic spritework!

Updates and release

Thanks guys! I'll hit you up on Discord.

CYE What went right and what went terribly wrong retrospective.

This was very insightful and interesting to read. This is a huge project and there was clearly too much to give attention to, so obviously not everything would be 100%.

I do disagree you're awful at writing. I liked the characters, I thought their personalities were coherent and the dialog was meaningful. As I played I was genuinely curious to meet the husband again to know what he would have to say. Maybe the story wasn't super engaging because it wasn't meant to be (?) seeing dialog bits were too sparse admidst the gameplay.

I admit thatI even tried to solve the 1st battle in an alternate way: hitting the nurse and trying to join the goons! Lol yeah it is not possible as the dialogue hinted but I tried! It was just music lol!

That's not a bad idea, actually!
I'm thinking about making battles in which you can pick sides. The flexibility of my script makes it very easy to set up.
I want to add the option of recruiting the minions in battle 3 too, other than just scaring them away. I didn't do it yet cause I was in a rush to release the demo!

I enjoyed! Hey Mau in the first map gave me a hard time due to him one shotting Vince in a couple of occasions (maybe I was unlucky since sometimes he avoided the attack or received less damage). I am nearing the end anyway sprites and edits are so cool. I also like the choiches during the narrative parts that give bonus, this is a feature I did not remember!

Glad you like it! Yeah I need to tone down the fist battle a bit. Already did actually, and reuplodaded it. I was afraid it might be too easy. I plan on making even more interactivity possibilities on the next cutscenes!

Sequel! Hold Your Nose!

That's elaborately funny!
Also why is the dishwasher horny?

Shelving Project Due to Poor Performance

Lack of interested and lack of feedback are pandemic, and they're happening mostly because there are sooooooo many games out there, having one of them catch someone's attention is a lot more difficult. So I'd recommend thinking about it carefully before dropping this project because it isn't getting enough attention in hopes that the next one will. I feel like in order to make your game popular these days you either need to make a game entirely focused on being popular (flashy graphics, fast paced, corky graphics and amazing mechanics) or you need to invest in marketing a lot. If you're not willing to do either, just focus on your target audience and try to make it work.
