I'm vaguely aware of a Lunar fan-game, maybe two. I definitely keep seeing a Lunar thread pop up in the Recent Posts.

There's at least one BOF2 remake that's authored by the same person that's doing Final Fantasy Discovery. So, I can understand the delay, if not outright abandonment of the BOF2 game. There may be others, but, I have not heard head or tail of them for years on end.

Other than SuikoProject, I'm aware of an attempt to remake Suikoden 2 on here. Or, maybe it's a retelling of that game with a few "what ifs" thrown in? Something like that. Man, I should subscribe to that.

Gosh, everything revolves around Final Fantasy games around here...

Why is that?!?!?!?!

LOVE IT! Also... I dunno. FF6 is the only one that is part of my top 5. I prefer the Suikoden games of the PSX era!

Oh right that's on Steam now.

Excellent story on that one. One of my all time fave games.
I thought the Steam release only changed the graphics? Did they replace the story with a good one?
why would they downgrade from a great story to a merely good one? You are making no sense.

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

Realtalk FF6's story is a hot mess, like every Final Fantasy.

I will fight all of you.

Actually no I'll just be over here enjoying my own hot mess nostalgia game, Tales of Destiny.

Much like many other people in the world, you are entitled to be wrong.

Also not an RPG, but Umineko no Naku Koro Ni is a murder mystery visual novel which does some clever things with metanarrative.
Solitayre
Circumstance penalty for being the bard.

Not an RPG but I think you might like the story of Mark of the Ninja.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I can find you 2D RPGs and I can find you RPGs with interesting stories, but I have never played a 2D RPG with a good story.
Half Minute Hero. A JRPG-like game where the hero has to level up and beat the Demon Lord in 30 seconds or less in every mission. Really fun, especially if you're a speedrun-minded person.

Helen's Mysterious Castle
This one is like $2. You should buy it regardless.

I also second Star Wars: KOTOR and would also suggest KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords (Kreia is one of the most interesting characters I've ever encountered in an RPG)
I looked at every single RPG I own and I couldn't find a single one with a really interesting story. I found a lot with interesting experiences and stuff. But RPGs don't really seem to do story very well.

But...

Fallout?
Arcanum?
