Bug testing...commence!

1. In the intro, exists is spelled wrong.

2. In the intro, there is a line. There are those who choose to live a life or crime. Shouldn't or be of?

3. Intro yet again: Magic, a power once used for justice. Became apart of the evil power. For one, there should be a comma at the end of justice, and then a lowercase b in became...as well as a period at the end of power. (Note, period may not of been visible to the background)

4. Bite bugs attack constantly during battles when the actual game starts, the enemy gets nonstop hits on you, leaving the bar barely able to fill.

5. In the special menu, if you clicked a greyed out ability, it says this feature has yet to be un locked. It
should be unlocked.

6. No level up messages are displayed when you level up.

7. I went through the cave, and exited to another part that is apparently a dead end. Theres a moogle here if that helps.

Comments so far about the game itself: The dialog could use some work, as well as character build up. For instance, after the tutorial, why does he start in the forest, rather than in town, in order to build up a relationship between him and his mom? This is just the nitpicking side of me mostly, you could have your reasons.

Edit: Bite bugs at there current speed seem to ruin the game. I constantly miss, when I get an attack after there 30 hit barrage on me before I even get a turn.

Edit 2: Opened this up in rpg maker to see exactly why they kept killing me. Most of your monsters in that forest had like 16 agi....bite bug had 600. Add that on to the fact you you an active turn based system...there's no way i'm living against that at lvl 1...with a single party member. I don't know the intended number, but I set it at 20 agi for myself. I won't touch anything else unless I run into something else that's game breaking.

Edit 3; I don't want to sound critical, but did you actually test this yourself? The battles were simple enough after I edited bite bugs, but I find myself getting poisoned constantly, and theres not really enough antidotes scattered about. In fact, there should be alot more to explore, as the first dungeon is linear. Linear is fine for a first dungeon, but it simply feels too linear...and theres no real treasure scattered about, except for 2 obvious chests. The key hammer item should of been gotten differently as well, not just hidden discretly near a wall in my way...as it took me 2 seconds to find it.

Final Fantasy Essence

Heh, sounds good. I just started this up again, and I noticed I'm getting 1-2 ep per battle. I think starting with low numbers is fine since it's still early on and you just unlocked it, but at the same time, it feels like you have to really grind for fire. I tried the world map and I usually get 2 ep, and on the mountain, just to the right of the ice blocks, I only get 1 ep. I think a way to remedy this a bit is to throw in a rare semi-hard encounter to each area, who rewards mayby 5-10 ep.

On a side note, glad to hear difficulty will be picking up soon. Hopefully, secret passages will get harder to find as well.

Edit: I just leveled up some essence, and I can't figure out what storms dragon soul and jessens stealth does, unless it passively improves storms jump, and either jessens act rate, or steal rate. There needs to be a little more detail about those two.

Edit 2: I just realized I didn't go in depth on the menu glitch. By that I mean, when you go into say a weapon shop, and it have weapon shop in the top of your screen, and you enter your menu, it will still be there. This also applies to armor shops, and simply entering a new town. If it's still up there when you open the menu, then it will just get in your way. It's best to wait till they disappear before opening your menu since that way you don't have to close it, wait for it to disappear,, and then reopen.

Edit 3: Actually, the rate of essence might be ok, it was just that first part of learning fire. I'm finding it's just about right on the mountain, while I'm exploring for treasure. The enemies aren't any real threat sadly though.

Edit 4: Crushed the boss, but I did have to try a little harder, since he had one brutal attack. Overall though, he managed to only make me use a single phoenix down (and I even let him get that kill, cause I was busy trying to steal his item). Besides that, I just needed to use a few healing spells, including ones to cure status ailments (mainly poisona).

Final Fantasy Essence

Glad I could help. I'm up to the part that I can start gathering essence, but that's where i stopped, so I havn't experimented with that yet. I did however, find passability issues on a map. I would of posted it yesterday, but photobucket was nonresponsive when I tried to bring it up.

If you walk straight ahead from where my character is, you will go through that area, and there is also four spots where that occurs on this map. The passability error occurs at those cornerish areas, best way I know to word it.

I've noticed the dialog issues as well, but I'll let that other guy handle this, since they need only a single person.

Comments toward npcs: They aren't as dynamic as I'd like. I'll give an example. In the lowest part of your city, the people change dialog after the screeching crystal event, but they do not change dialog when the fugitive part starts. I've a tendancy to check everything, and thought I' d mention this. The senator building also suffers from this, as they keep the same dialog throughout the events.

As far as your secret passages go...there too easy to find, but that's just my opinion. I've found the few of them you did place, and you made it sort of obvious. I can't figure out how to use those mix item's I found yet, but I'm assuming I need to level up essence for that.

As for battles up to this point, I'd say there in the middle. I havn't had any difficulty with them myself, and I may of noticed a glitch. I don't know if it was intended (I didn't experiment much, as not to abuse), but I think you could get unlimited high potions from the robot bosses probes. You just steal from them, kill them off, wait for him to repair, and repeat.

At any rate, just a bit of what I felt of the game so far, and a couple of possible glitches. I'm hoping theres a difficulty spike now that I have essence, since I'm always looking for a good challenge, which I havn't had yet, but in your defense, it was still fairly early game.

Final Fantasy Essence

I've been toying with the death glitch for the last few days, and I can safely say that it only happens when a sickle connects and instant ko's a person. I've tried dying to normal attacks, poison, dying to physical attacks while poisoned, and toyed around with a few different ideas...but the sickle is the only way I've managed to receive the death glitch, and it happens consistantly..

About the only thing I havn't tried is reviving from the menu, and i'm planning on doing that next. If I can't recreate it soon, I'll just use my backup save and continue with the game, and test from there.

So yeah...for now, just kill the instant death enemy asap.

Ps: I was disappointed when all I could steal from it was a lousy potion...that's a little too weak of an item for a rare dangerous enemy in my opinion.

Edit: I forgot to mention this but someone under the affects on the death glitch cannot act in battle, even if they do have health.

Edit 2: Normal reviving from menu works fine, but if they were hit by sickle in battle (died to instant ko), and you revive them outside battle, the death glitch still occurs.

Anyways, hope this info helps, since I was able to recreate it consistantly.

Do not fear. Lex is here :P

I was going to at one point but celes said not to bother, since they were going to fix it later. Guess things changed lol.

Final Fantasy Essence

lol yeah, shes on break, and most likely, the cancelled was a misclick (that's my guess anyways). For anyone wanting to try the glitchy demo, scour the 17 pages of this for a sendspace link...but be warned, there is plenty of gamebreaking bugs to make it not worth it, I'd just wait for the fixed version, unless you want to help track down the cause of the bugs.

Final Fantasy Essence

Niatus means it's temporarily on hold, cancelled would mean cancelled. Celes probably placed that before going on her break, since even though your still working on it, the whole team isn't working on it at the moment. At any rate...now that I got some stuff done, lets see if I can't replicate that death bug...or die trying!

Final Fantasy Essence

4, 5, 6, and 9 were some of my favorites, but in no particular order. I'd rate 7 as an ok game. I consider it to be extremely overated...but I shouldn't stray off topic.

To get things back on track, I'll just question if the main character ever turns into a cross dresser. On a serious note, I'll try to get myself back on track tomorrow and unleash my true testing skills, and see if i can't track down a way that the death bug consistently happens. If anyone can do it, it's probably me. Playing chrono trigger on the ds recently has sparked my motivation somewhat, since I came across a bug that isn't even mentioned on the net.

Final Fantasy Essence

Bragoz: If you had clicked the character tab, you would notice that he does not appear in this game. It has it's own unique characters.

Jeroen: That's a known bug and there working on it, as well as the infamous death bug. Thanks for bringing it up just in case though.

Edit: lol wcouillard beat me to it, oh well.

Final Fantasy Essence

Good point about the bestiary lol. If it is indeed related to sickle like we all suspect, could it for some reason not be reading the death trigger correctly in some instances when it hits? Just throwing out random ideas really. I knew about killing head hunters fast...but I got greedy thinking I might not see one for a good while (seemed to be a rare encounter).
