LockeZ designs boss battles for you

LockeZ: I was wondering if you had any suggestions for the final boss battle?

Unless your reaction is, "Dang! I just typed out an awesome miniboss for you! Why don't you get that set up and stop bothering me!?" In which case: Fair point.

From Archades to Crescent ~ Town Design for the Solo Dev

I saw a show with a bunch of Disney World designers and they talked about how they plan the different little towns all around the park - I so wish that I could find it on youtube or something... this was years ago. Some Travel Channel thing, undoubtedly.

Anyways, they're suggestion for a town was to create one central characteristic that was the highest, most interesting thing in the town - and then make everything else in the town in service to that. So: Cinderella's Castle in Disney World; the Epcot Ball in Epcot Center; the big ass tree in the zoo park; etc.

And, if done well, could mayber serve to make a place that is at once 1) interesting, 2) easy to make for a single dev, 3) fun for the player, and 4) consistent with the worldbuilding of the game. Since I've been playing Bravely Default/Second recently, the all-female-beauty town and clock town are good examples of this.

Then, past the architecture, I think a good way to make things interesting (and it's been discussed here already) is a mix of NPCs. I thought that this blog make a number of good points and I think a balance of the various types of NPCs would serve towns well so that they are engaging for players (at least, for the people who talk to NPCs): Click.

[RMVX ACE] what can cause characters to walk through walls

It could be that what you're using for a wall is not really considered a wall by the program. I've seen that happen with other tiles - like where people use roofs for floors and suddenly can't move on them. Do you have a screenshot of some of your walls?

From Shaz on a different board, the best explanation I can find:

"The top left tile in the B tileset is the 'erase' tile or the 'default' tile when no other B-E tile is used. You should NEVER put a sprite on it (and in fact, if you do, it won't show up anyway).
If you put B-E tiles down and you decide you don't want them anymore, there's no way to ERASE them. Instead, you use that tile and draw over the unwanted ones.
The star is an indication that the A passability should be used instead.
So if you change it to X, you'll hardly be able to move at all. And if you change it to O, you'll be able to go almost anywhere."

By not working, do you mean:
1) You can't download it because it's a weird website?
2) You downloaded it, but can't get it in your game?
3) You put it in your game, and the font seems to be changing from the default, but it sure isn't Terminal font?
4) Something else?

Are you able to find it online? I found this, so maybe it will help:

This is so awesome! Thanks for all the ideas, skills, and strategies! I saw this at work this morning and kept it up on my screen all day. Sometimes I would just click over at it and look at it - just to smile!

I've got a number of new skills to add - so I'll let you know how it goes! I don't have hammers in my game right now... but I may put them in. I may also contact you later if I have problems with the common events dealing with the minion deaths.

Thanks again!!
