Award the Previous Poster

Okay, this is a bit similar to the Rate the Avatar thread, but more flexible and creative than just saying #/10. You give the of the person above you an award of some sort. For example, you might give my avatar the Most Obnoxiously Purple award, or demondestiny's the Most Oddly Shaded Anime award.

This is the first post, so the person above me gets the Most Nonexistant award.

Go! And be creative about it!

[FULL] Pokemon Hunter: Overhauled Edition!

There's an unwritten rule in game making which states that the first game a person ever makes will be crappy no matter what. It's an unfortunate concept that's almost impossible to avoid. My game might've been a little ahead of the curve, but it was no exception.

Well, not anymore!

New & Improved!

This is a re-release of my first game, Pokemon Hunter. This time around, I've fixed up a few things. Okay, I fixed up a LOT of things.

What exactly did you fix in this version?

All kinds of stuff! This game needed an overhaul pretty badly, so I played through it and fixed everything I could think of. To be more specific, I fixed:

- dialogue
- mapping
- inconsistencies
- bad custom graphics (sorry, still RTP)
- cutscenes
- repetitive/inefficient data
- and countless other miscellaneous deficiencies

The game itself still plays like it used to, as none of the mechanical stuff has changed. Just the general quality of everything is much higher than it used to be. It's still the same game, but much better.

So...is there anything actually new in this version?

Yes, there is. I added a new mode of play that becomes available when the game is completed at 100% (not nearly as difficult as it sounds). It works a lot like New Game + in Chrono Trigger, but with a twist. What is the twist, you ask? Well...
You'll just have to play the game!

I've never heard of this before, what can I expect?

If you're new to the series, then there's never been a better time to check it out. My crappy official site has a lot of helpful info about the series in general, but here's the nitty-gritty of this game in particular.

Playtime: Around 30 hours, depending on how much you rock/suck.

Engine: It's an RM2K game (NOT 2K3), and it's fully independent of RPG Maker. You don't need any additional stuff to run it.

Category: It's a typical RPG, which is weird, because most people would expect it to be more like a Pokemon game. The premise is that this is what Pokemon would be like if it were a normal RPG.

Description: Baise Town. Your average, run-of-the-mill town. It's nestled into an area with many diverse terrains. It's near an ocean, a forest, a mountain...even some ancient ruins! It's a little out of the way, but that's what the folks there like about it. Above all other things, the area surrounding the town is peaceful as can be. Life is easy and carefree. Until one day...

All at once, without warning or explanation, the local fauna began to attack villagers. Their numbers were so great that many fled the town while most holed up in their houses. The town fell under siege, and the Mayor sent for help. The answer came in the form of a capable hunter, named Eli...

Features: The game doesn't have anything fancier than its modded DBS. That means nothing's too complicated.

Even if you've played this game before, the new version's worth a download. There's more content at the end for those who found all the secrets, and the old save files from past versions will still work in this one (or, at least, they should).

Have some screenshots! Some haven't changed, but others have improved.

#1 - Title Screen
#2 - improved Lava Shrine
#3 - Yes, you kill Pikachu
#4 - Stinkoman doesn't look absolutely horrible anymore!
#5 - Pallet swaps are always an improvement DZZZT!
#6 - Good advice

And, finally, the new & improved download link. It's not a direct link, but rather takes you to my games page where you can find all the other installments of the series as well. You'll also be able to get ahold of this game's improved version from it's page here at RMN (once the download's accepted, of course).

Downloads Page

Also, if anyone's interested in giving this game a review, I would greatly appreciate it. No one's ever bothered to before...

I hope you enjoy the improvements I've made to this game!

The Kelly Chronicles

I think this is the right place for this, so here goes...

This is a comic series I wrote last year about an original character named Kelly and an unoriginal character with an original personality, Link. Before I get started, though, let me explain a little about how this came to be.

Back before I knew how to drive, I had to ride back and forth to work with my dad. Sometimes, I had to wait in his office, and I killed time by drawing pictures. I once drew a whole bunch of random characters on a note, and they came from all over the video game universe. There were Pokemon, people from Bomberman, Mario, Legend of Zelda, a bunch from FF7...just a really bizarre mix. Anyway, I left the note there, and dad's secretary found it.

She thought the pictures were neat, so I started leaving her more notes describing the characters and where they came from/what there deal was. Once I finished all the notes, dad asked me to make an original character for her. So, I made Kelly (named after the secretary).

After that, dad thought it would be cool if I used Kelly in the comic series I've been writing. She didn't really have a place in it, though, so I decided to write a unique story for her instead. I took all the characters from the original note (about 42 in all) and made up a story for Kelly to star in. This is that story.

Now, then...my art is far from the best in the world. I have my own unique style, but it's very...quaint (that's the nice way of putting it). I've been drawing this way for awhile, but the style might bother some people. Anyway, here's the first two episodes. And, yes, I started using a ruler after the first two.

1 - A New Ally

2 - Storming the Fortress

If anybody's interested in seeing more, I'll keep posting them. If not, then I won't bother. This is a fairly long series (62 episodes in all), so I don't want to waste my time if nobody wants to read them.

I hope you enjoy them!

Alphabetical Order

I know the games list on RMN is already alphabetized, but would it be possible to sort them by letter for the navigation, too? As it is, there's just the numbers along the bottm, and you have to pick one and figure out how close you are to the game you're looking for. Just thought it might make searching through titles a little easier if you could pick the first letter of the title instead of a random numerical guess.

halibabica's All-Star Mode: a challenge to all Brawl players!

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, All-Star Mode pits you against the entire cast of the game with one life and limited healing items. This is the same idea, but without all the life and percentage restrictions.

halibabica's All-Star Mode

So, here's the deal. I've been playing Brawl for a good while now, and I finally feel comfortable enough with all the characters to hold my own in a fight with them (with a few exceptions). Now, I'm looking for people who are willing to take me on as all of them in one sitting.

It's basically 40 matches in a row. I start as Mario and change characters each match, working my way from left to right on the character select screen (you can be whoever you want). Each character gets their own stage that suits them best without repeating stages. Since there are 39 different characters and 41 stages, all but two stages are used. Here's a list of who I'd be in what order and where.

1. Mario: Mushroomy Kingdom
2. Donkey Kong: Jungle Japes
3. Link: Bridge of Eldin
4. Samus: Brinstar
5. Zero Suit Samus: Frigate Orpheon
6. Kirby: Green Greens
7. Fox: Corneria
8. Pikachu: Pokemon Stadium
9. Marth: Smashville
10. Mr. Game & Watch: Flat Zone 2
11. Luigi: Luigi's Mansion
12. Diddy Kong: Rumble Falls
13. Zelda: Hanenbow
14. Sheik: Temple
15. Pit: Skyworld
16. Meta Knight: Halberd
17. Falco: Big Blue
18. Squirtle: Delfino Plaza
19. Ivysaur: Yoshi's Island (Melee)
20. Charizard: Norfair
21. Ike: Castle Siege
22. Snake: Shadow Moses Island
23. Peach: Mario Circuit
24. Yoshi: Yoshi's Island (Brawl)
25. Ice Climbers: Summit
26. King Dedede: Rainbow Cruise
27. Wolf: Lylat Cruise
28. Lucario: Spear Pillar
29. Ness: Onett
30. Sonic: Green Hill Zone
31. Wario: WarioWare, Inc.
32. Toon Link: Pirate Ship
33. R.O.B.: PictoChat
34. Olimar: Distant Planet
35. Captain Falcon: Port Town Aero Dive
36. Jigglypuff: Pokemon Stadium 2
37. Lucas: New Pork City
38. Ganondorf: Battlefield
39. Bowser: Final Destination
40. Random: Random

But, wait! If there are only 39 cast members, how can there be 40 fights? Well, the final fight is a random character on a random stage, so you never know what you'll get for the last round. The only two stages that don't get used are 75m and Mario Bros., but they still might come up in the end...

The matches would all be 3 stock and non-timed. Items can be on, but if they're on, I'd keep them on low. Also, with this list, you'll know who I'm being next and what stage I'm choosing for them. You can use this info to your advantage. If you don't like the stage I'm choosing next, you can pick a different one and hope mine doesn't get chosen. Or, if you like the sound of this, you can play along and pick the same as me. I can't control you, but I'll pick these spots for these characters regardless!

Now, here's what separates this from just a regular batch of Brawls. With each match, I'm going to be keeping score. You don't have to win to get points, just K.O. me at least once. Here's how the scoring breaks down:

K.O. me once: 1 point. That's nothing!
K.O. me twice: another 4 points, for a total of 5.
K.O. me all three times: another 5 points, for a total of 10.

So, if you fought every match and beat me every time, the most you could get would be 400 points. But, wait! There's more! If, by some act of Satan, you manage to K.O. me all three times without losing a life yourself (ie 3-stocking), you get an additional 10 points for a match total of 20! I'm not betting on this happening, so your score is defined by the 400 limit in spite of it. It'd be a dark day when someone got an 800 out of me...

When all the fighting is over, I'll post the results here. It'll include who you played as, where we fought (if any different from my chosen stages), how many points you got in each round, and your end total/rank. Even if you quit in the middle of it, I'll still post the results. However, your score and rank will be adjusted based on when you quit.

Any questions? Or, more importantly, any challengers?! If you're interested in attempting my All-Star mode, PM me with your schedule so I can pick a time we both can meet online. Just please remember about time zones, as I'm on America's east coast. I may also need your Brawl code and name tag, so include those as well. Also, if you're serious about this, remember:

40 matches x 5 minutes each = 3 hours and 20 minutes.

I don't think every match would take that long to fight, but it's a possibility. So, keep in mind how early you'll want to start this if you intend on finishing it. I'm also okay with someone starting where they left off if they had to quit from an earlier try.

I look forward to destroying you all.

The Forum Game ^ < v

Okay, here's how this one works. You start with:

^ Something about the person above you. Then, you type:

< something about yourself. Finally, you finish up with:

v something about the person who'll be posting after you.

The things you say don't have to be true (or founded in any sort of logic whatsoever), so say whatever they heck you want. In case you still don't get it, here's my starting example.

^ Doesn't exist!

< Is starting a crappy forum-based game

v Will carry this on to the next phase

The old newcomer

Hello! I've been a member here for a couple months, but I only hosted my game projects and never really joined in the forum stuff. So, I'm halibabica! You may remember me from such websites as Gaming World. I'm also the guy responsible for the Pokemon Hunter series (the what?).

I'm usually pretty soft-spoken, and I won't post unless I feel like I can actually contribute something to the discussion.

Most, if not all of my hobbies involve videogames. In spite of being an RPG maker, I actually despise most RPGs and lean more toward live action adventure-type games. I'm also an adamant player of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I have broad music tastes, but get most all of my music from Overclocked ReMix (videogame remixes, yay!) or from game soundtracks.

GW is my usual base of operations, but I think I'll try getting more involved here, too. Of course, the last thing I need is another forum sucking up all my time, so we'll see just how much I do here. ;D
