All those equipments with amazing names and then black belt.

LOL.

Yeah, it's because Black Belt and the Signet aren't craftable/enhancable like the rest, which gives them named suffixes

Why does the windowskin look like something out of an ugly Win95 game? D:

It's been updated. Looks better now.

Numbers don't mean a whole hell of a lot when complacency rules the day. The fact that you've released a slew of commercial games tells me none of them are doing all that well, or at least well enough to support your hobby. It's Laxius Force (jokingly, Laxative Force) all over again.

Are you ready for this?

1) A slew of games?I have made 4 commercial games in SEVEN YEARS. I take my time, test vigorously, and assure a quality product. That's really more like a Blizzard-style release cycle. Not a "slew" as you call it.

2) None of them are doing all that well? Oh man. You are speaking from a position of ignorance. This is why RMN has a horrible reputation. (No, not the entire userbase, just some of its more vocal members.) Assumptions based on no real information.

I'm doing great, actually. My biggest financial concern is which sport coupe I want - the Beamer or the Benz. Might also get a Seadoo - love those things. I don't get tax refunds anymore. I pay large amounts in April. Good problem to have.

3) Laxative Force. Look, I don't have the same design philosophy as Aldorlea. He does this full time and I don't. I also have a full time job. He's made WAY more games than I have and they tend to have shorter development cycles. But success is success and he has it, like it or not. Same with Aveyond and Amaranth Games. I know them both and they're really great people. Helpful, smart, clever. Your approach to RM commercial devs may not actually be jealousy, but it comes off this way to the outside world.

I've played the demo. Tyranos Lucien is an unlikable mess who's thrown into situations that - if I remember correctly - can only be marginally excused as plausible. You've always had war as the forefront of your games but have failed time and time again to deliver because everything that follows essentially boils down to what sounds good on paper. This game? It's a wedding followed by a kidnapping, followed by bombs on a train and I don't remember the rest despite having played the demo only about a week ago.

You took me off ignore just to throw a temper tantrum? Do us both a favor and stay ignoring, thanks.

Here's the thing. A grand total of zero customers care about this sort of thing. Pretty much no one who likes indie RPGs thinks like that. Frankly, neither do I. This is a finished commercially launched product and I'm not going to change a few tiles because RMN said so.

I mean what do you want? You gave advice, pretty snootily-delivered by the way, that wasn't needed or asked for, and it wasn't taken. Nothing changed. So what? Why don't you do what I'm doing and move on? Are your feelings hurt that your advice wasn't some smash hit that caused a whole new patch?

Tiny shit RMN worries about has almost nothing to do with a game's success. RPGs live and die by their narrative. Especially indie RPGs.

Also, have you considered breaking free from your "typical angry internet nerd" thing and tried using tact or grace when giving advice? You didn't really give helpful advice, you just kinda pissed and moaned. How does a person even function around other humans like that? I know how to describe something I think could be improved without coming off like a complete dick. You refrain from insults and you give specific examples.

Sometimes when I look at a beautiful woman, I say "she's ugly, her elbows are too pointy"
Some things never change.

You're right. "Criticism" at RMN is and has always been hyper-focused on extremely minor, all-but-irrelevant shit.

Key words there being "a bit."

You are hard to please. It's not generic.

1.5 years of development, lots of budget, use collective party-wide TP instead of MP, kidnapped bride who completely turns that trope on its head in a massive way later on, extremely robust forge/salvage and augment systems, fully animated battlers, fucking stunning in battle pixel art, relying on physical formation in battle - mixing tactical with JRPG, heal after battle, no random encounters and ability to get preemptive attack/surprised attacked based on map encounters, respec skill points any time, retry battle with opportunity to respec, repeatable missions with scaling enemies, AOE attacks with various area patterns in battle, etc, etc, etc. Show me a more feature-rich RM game?

Generic? Maybe Lucian's design. But the game doesn't even take him seriously. He's joked about as being hero guy and not very bright in the game itself. He's not even the protagonist - he's the facilitator. Ingrid is "the player" along for the ride. The true protagonist is the kidnapped bride.

Generic.

ScreenHunter_207_Sep_12_0804.jpg

That's high praise - thank you!

ss_battle.jpg

Happy - yep, they're in the game.

Thx!
