It's ridiculous what the discrepancy is between dentists from country to country.
Here in Canada, and probably the US too, we have travel agencies that specialize in setting up trips to Mexico for major dental work. You can get your entire mouth done for $10-20,000 as opposed to $4,000 per tooth. And it's not like you're getting poorly educated dentists or some such. Most of them are retired dentists who set up shop in Mexico because they actually make more due to the larger take-home percentage.

I know right! It's fucking ridiculous! And there are a LOT of good dentists in the Philippines and not necessarily good ones here in HK! I have a high school classmate who's studying dentistry right now and a long time ago I've mentioned that if I were to get braces, I'd probably go back to the Philippines (invisalign are like 120k pesos, which is around 20k HKD) because he told me he has his done locally for like 40k HKD (which is DOUBLE the price!! And if we're doing traditional braces probably triple!)

He just kinda scoffed at me and said that they're cheaper so you can't "guarantee if it's any good". I got a bit offended by his comments btw because just because they're from a poor country doesn't necessarily mean the quality should be shit. I'm half-Filipino and like practically 99% of my elementary school classmates over there had their braces done and not one of them turned out to be messed up. I even met an American customer from my previous job and he told me he went to Vietnam several times for his dental routine and told me they "did a good job."

*I've just looked up the local price for invisalign and it says it's 60k ~ 80k HKD. That's like triple/quadruple the amount in the Philippines jfc and more than 4 month's salary of the average joe!!
