Just curious, since I'm in retail.

It's not actually something that occurred to me and I've never intentionally asked since I've been working for almost half-a-year at the shop but it started when this customer from Peru started pouring out his coins from his wallet, asked me which ones were the ones in HK, and when I saw the coins he had from his country and said they looked pretty, he just casually gave it to me and it kinda just snowballed from there.

Right now, I have 2 bills from 2 different countries and coins from 15 different countries (one of them from my own travels in Japan and not including the ones from my hometown, Philippines).

Mostly when I ask I try to ask for cents because from what I've seen, they're usually the most interesting-looking ones and the tourists/guests would have no problem giving them away haha, plus, I don't have to feel (THAT) bad to ask for such a tiny amount.

Do I feel "weird" constantly having to ask them? Ehhhh, I guess so, but I mostly "target" "older" people and most of them looked pretty happy "helping me out" HAHA.
Also, I noticed most of the Latin America tourists are the most carefree! Literally this woman from Colombia who told me she went to 20 countries turned her HUUUGE wallet upside-down, picked 4 random coins (one from her country, Bahamas, Brazil and Chile) and was like "Yeah? 4 okay?" lmfao xD

And then there's this old guy who came to our shop and started speaking to me in Spanish all the way through - he couldn't speak/understand an ounce of English so I just tried to show him the coins from Peru that I've got the other day to "make small talk" and he looked so excited and was like, "Ahh!" then did this hand gesture and told me to wait. He then went outside, trying to ask his companions and came back with a 1 cent from Panama, kept on pointing to it and said "Balboa" and he said some stuffs in Spanish again and all I could hear out was the word "internet" (old geezer probably wants me to look up the guy in the coin ahaha).

So yup I guess this is my new way of killing time at work now! xP

fake edit: may or may not upload pics if I'm not feeling lazy :P

I used to collect various coins as a kid, but I dropped that a long time ago. Mostly it was Old US coins but I did have my share of foreign coins as well.

I got about forty euros in Macedon money. They're beautiful. Also I like pounds. The coin is just solid.
But I don't really collect them, just got bunch of coins and bills from my travels plus some inherited coins (my dad and grandad kind of collected them). This got me some Swiss franks, Greek drachnas, Swedish crowns...
I do, but I don't get much chance to collect some. I only have 4 countries, including my own.
I used to collect coins when I was younger. I have some from all over the world.

I have a few bills from Hong Kong and Korea. Whenever I'm in an international airport, I try to find the exchange counter to see what bills I can get from other countries.
I try to collect as much as I can of Canadian bills and coins.

So far it is not going well...
