JAY185'S PROFILE

*Hi I'm Jay. I'm straight forward and to the point. I will always give a proper review and the best advice I can if you ask me for my help/opinion. Otherwise I'm just a fun guy with many hobbies. I really like football (soccer) as I do playing games (especially RPGs), i also like traveling, art, photography and of course.. game design.
I am here to help others but also here to present a game I've been working on. I hope this will help me in the gaming world and set for me a benchmark as I'm studying Game Design at University at the moment. I'm actually really excited at the prospect of being in that industry ^_^
I'm also a Graphic Design & Art student who has just achieved 2 diplomas (1 for each) at college and also an A Level in media study.
Anything you wanna know, just ask :)

Hero's Realm

Or perhaps 2011 was just better balanced?

The average battle is a walk over.. I played earlier today, 10 battles won with relative ease then suddenly killed by a party with 5/+ monsters that ambushed. That would not happen in your everyday rpg which is a learning curve (note i heal my party inbetween battles as well as save the game which is a bit too much).

I also dont remember being attacked by 5-9 enemies grouped together as much which is also another reason, it doesnt work for me.

I have plenty of white and dark magic, its not about the strategy im using, you dont have a chance to use anything really, your dead the moment they gang up or use certain conditions. Thats all i have to say.

PS:: thanks kentona for the great game (not sarcasm)

Hero's Realm

By far one of the best games ever made on rpg maker, i played this back in 2011 and loved the game but i returned to play a newer version of the game (1.5) and dont like it as much, its like the AI is different and grinding is too important, the problem i have is that i have grinded and in chapter one my party just gets wasted (its not because im bad at rpgs).

Some of the conditions in the first tower like chaos are too overpowered (maybe its the classes that are too underpowered), i'd go on a run of winning about 50 battles in a row (proving ive done a good job of grinding before hand) and then suddenly enemies would all attack first (i have full hp) and waste the whole party with ease. Not so much a complaint, just something isn't right with version 1.5 imo. I gave up on the game because of this issue of enemies wasting a party too easily even when i fight intelligently. i know someone probably wont agree with this but when i feel a great game has been ruined i felt compelled to comment on this.

I'm going to stick to version 2011 until i work out whats changed.

Agreed, try a lighter shade of black (greys).. in my game i used blue for the outside border of the water tileset. GL

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

Finding that cave trap was totally by bad luck (or luck) lol because i decided to take it as a shortcut. Realized that dropping down a level with no way back up meant i had to reset game lol.

Also i dont find this game difficult, its just about right imo.. For me its just the cardial part that i found alittle overpowered.. had to grind 60-80 battles in the flooded tower for next level lol. So i think the idea of tinkering the exp would defo be a good idea. Maybe earn 2-5 more exp from enemies.. or 'alittle' less exp to level.

Either way gotta figure out what to do next, im stuck lol.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

Hey Orias im still playing this as im testing other games too but in the meanwhile i met up with some things in gameplay which might need changing.

I did have about 3/4 problems i encountered but cant remember them all but the two i do remember..

1) when you get the key from the bandit in the swamp cave around the early part of the game and you go to get the holy water from gustav i realized he takes back the key. This mean if you accidently used the swamp caves tunnel you get stuck in the tunnel as you no longer have the right key to get through.. whether this has been updated since i dont know.

2) i think someone above may have pointed this out.. the cardial part seemed pretty difficult.. the main boss especially.. i usually play rpgs day in and out but the main boss seemed highly over powered.. besides in the flooded tower you cant buy weapons.

all in all though i have enjoyed thus far.. nice job :)

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

This is looking good.. Im stuck tho at the part where your supposed to get the moon flower from the woods. However when i get to the end of the woods i dont know what to do as the area keeping looping? did i miss something? is there an order or certain secret path im missing?

Site Announcement

Edit: so its set in stone that he is definately keeping it up? sorry yeah i just read the first few posts coz i was in a rush. I just read the part stating he was going to evaluate things over this next week and try reverse the closing.

TBH i couldnt imagine waking up to switching my comp on anymore and not being able to drool at all the cool rpg games on show :( rpgs are my drug lol.

Theoretically isn't the tile cap for 2k/2k3, 500x500? o.õ

It is but you can get 2000x2000 max with Goliath patch.

This world map is one of the best ive seen on here and it inspires me. Nice work man.

If you want sum ideas (obv you dont need it lol) id make an area somewhere of a big wide ocean cause there is way loads of land/continents with no real oceans between. The bottom centre/left or top left could be like that but obv if you like the whole land idea im for that too. the big ocean could hide secrets/dangers :) Good luck.

PS: question: how many tiles up and across is this map? im having guess its about 2000x2000?
