Why are you using such an outdated version of Python? I took a Python class last year and used version 3.2.3.

You want that version? If you're just taking a beginning class, it shouldn't make THAT much of a difference...
Python 2.7.8 was released on July 1, 2014.

Here is a direct link to 2.7.8 (32-bit)

Which site did you get that from, Ankylo? I just looked on Python.org and, in their latest news section, they've announced version 3.4.1 released on May 18th, 2014.

Is Python so advanced that it transcends time periods? Or are we looking at two different sites?

I did a google search for 'phython 2.7.8' and the very first result is from phython.org. I didn't have to click the link, the description text shows it was released on July 1st, 2014.

Red nova, there is still 2.x versions that are still being worked on and in use, especially since the transition from 2.X to 3.X isn't exactly smooth and there are some differences (anky would know more than I would though).

Aha! I KNEW I wasn't going crazy! Thanks for the clarification.

Silly nova. Acting like he knows what he's talking about...
uh, https://www.python.org/download/releases/2.7.8/

While Python 3 was officially released in 2008, Python 2.7 is still being updated (even having some Python 3.x features back ported into it). There is still a ton of Python 2.x code out in the wild (cough...RMN...cough) and it will probably be a long time (if ever) before it is all ported to Python 3.

Python 3.4.1 (32-bit)
My school is using 2.4, so I figured that I should get a 2.x version instead of a 3.x one. Though I also want to be able to port to 3.x as easily as I can, so 2.7.8...

Thanks everyone :D
Now to get that machine fired up.

I used Python 3.2.3 in my class when the professor recommended Python 2. If karins' class was similar to mine, perhaps Python 3 would have sufficed. I don't have Python 2 on my computer, so I was offering version 3.

Oh well, problem solved.
